That looks like one heck of a deal. I know Chris Paul is up there, and likely to break down by playoff time. But in my opinion, that would have been the deal to take.

With Durant still there you know they are prioritising players over picks. 3 years of a washed Paul is a real cap killer for a wasted roster spot if there is no opt out. Brooklyn still has playoff aspirations

Looks like that Dallas pick isn’t going to be mid first round anymore!

Not a bad deal for both sides…

Ha ..
Dallas will get same poison as Cavs & Celtics the curse of Kyrie Irving. Them NBA teams with Irving ain't winning NO title. *write it 🤔

👏
kudos! to Knickerbockers brass for not BITING On rumors Kyrie wanting Ny Knickerbockers as team.
Kyrie irving = Poison Ivy 😈

As Knicks fan I am as well as entire forum board
" Good Riddens K.Irving "🤪

As saying goes "Don't let the doorknob hit you where the dog should've bit you !"
Knickerbockers are winners 🏆 too for staying away from Mr. Kyrie 'Poison ivy' Irving 😎

Kyrie is loved in the locker room. Seriously, he gets love from players.
He is hated in the Board room.
He frustrates fans.
But lets not pretend he is a locker room cancer. He is not in the locker room enough to fuck it up.

This needed to be said

He's one of the most overatted players of all time, period.

Alone in Cleveland, they were one of the worst teams in the league.

Blew up the following
1. Lebron, Love - only had to score the ball, do nothing else
2. Tatum, Brown, Horford, lead a young team, couldn't do it, forced his way out
3. Durant, Harden, couldn't be a teammate or a leader, forced his way out

Three unbelievable situations any player would dream of. His resume is what exactly, an incredible handle, crazy scoring ability on 3 great finals games.

Outside of that it's injuries, drama, me first all the time. I think Dallas fucked themselves with this one.

Glad we didn't pick up Irving when the Nets did. I wanted Durant, but not enough to have to put up with Kyrie.

He is as talented as any player in the game, and he will end up with at least one title, which he played a major roll achieving it, but I want guys on my team who are willing to go to war, and put the team above their personal issues.

When I was a HS coach I had a kid who was one of the top performers in the previous year...He was in line to be a city champion. He also happened to have the best SAT score on the team. I had even given him an old computer of mine because he didn't have one.

Nevertheless, he had a problem getting to one of his classes & failed that class, taking him off the team. We would've been undefeated and in a better position in the brackets for the team tournament, in which we placed 2nd. The entire team shunned him after that happened. He tried to get into the individual tournament at the end of the year, but I wouldn't let him.

Reminds me a bit of Kyrie. I was involved in sports for most of my life as a participant or coach, & I don't understand how that kid of mine and Kyrie, both playing in a team sport, didn't do what had to be done to help their team.

Maybe Doncic will keep him on the straight and narrow...maybe the lure of a monster contract will, but Irving is not a player I'd want on the Knicks.

Best part was Joe Tsai refusing to send this idiot to the Lakers!

And so it begins.

The saga has already started (for Dallas).

KYRIE IRVING HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN RULED OUT FOR TONIGHT'S DALLAS @ UTAH GAME

And this time?

With a "sore calf".

🤣😭😂😂🤣🤔😭😅🤣😂

Rookie @ 2/6/2023 3:00 PM
So this deal isn’t official or done yet. Possibility of more teams getting involved. This gonna’ be good.
Chandler @ 2/6/2023 4:08 PM
Say what you want about Cuban but he's smart enough to know he needs to take gambles given the teams composition.

this will be home run or strike out -- thinking and wishing it's the latter

I'm a Jason Kidd fan though, and somehow i think he figures this out

Not unusual for player to not suite up so soon after a trade.
But this is an a unusual dude.

I just read on twitter the Nets were looking to get Toronto involved with FVV. So I guess the deal is not final? Who knows. Just glad we’re not involved.

We could’ve done that!!

Thank God we didn't.

Could’ve gave barret and a 2024 pick

That would have been a F'IN disaster.

MS @ 2/6/2023 6:59 PM
Can’t give RJ away he’s still a baby. Getting 20pts in this league isn’t easy. He’s got some bad habits to break. But he shows up and is going to play 70+ games.

There is no way this is going to work out for Dallas.

I think we stand pat till someone like Jalen Brown is available.

Don’t make stupid moves

He is in this position cause he wasn’t smart enough to see what was literally already on his roster begging to stay on a discounted extension

MS @ 2/6/2023 8:59 PM
Seriously.

This is a guy that let chandler go for nothing and broke up a championship team.

He could have signed Jalen Brunson for $55MM and balked. Literally went to that conference finals and let someone that was perfect for Luka go for nothing.

He could have probably got Obi or a 1st with Fournier in a sign and trade for Brunson but didn’t want to deal.

He’s a great owner but Dallas has missed a lot lately. This is not going to work.

This made me think of Kidd pointedly saying today that Kyrie is at another level than Brunson. It is also connected to the KP trade. Only way for Dallas to get rid of him was to pick up Dinwiddie and Bertans overvalued contracts, forcing them to pinch pennies on Brunson's extension.

Lets also not forget why fans are "upset" with him....

"Said the world is flat"

"Refused the COVID shot"

"posted a picture of a movie that is supposed to be anti-Semitic, from the worlds largest online retail store, whose CEO is Jewish"

Yes, Kyrie should absolutely be ridiculed for all of those things. Those are incredibly stupid positions for anyone to have let alone a public figure who is a role model for kids who also wants to be a social media activist

As a Knicks fan I feel like breaking up that Nets team is worth potentially sliding back a few spots in the draft. After beating the Celtics Cavs Heat and Philly, I feel like at least the Knicks can make it competitive in the playoffs vs. those teams. Nets were and Bucks are still at another level at least for this season.

I'm pretty positive on this deal for both teams. I think Kyrie's schtick will fly better in Texas. He'd probably get good press for refusing the vax vs what happened in NY. Good for the NBA too if Luka's teams have a chance.

Nets really rolled the dice on the Simmons trade. It looks like the worst contract in the league now and the Nets are going to have to really thread the needle to stay competitive.

Good take on the Kyrie in Texas thing. They will love his defiance!
Cuban mistakes are ambitious ones. The team reaches via free agency and trades.
But he has something Dolan has yet to achieve: "A ring with I his name on it".
So for all his mistakes, he has succeeded.
I admire what Prohorov tried to do with Nets. HE made a crazy money from buying from Ratner under distress and getting a hell of. price. Did it all before sanctions also. He actually has gotten screwed but is one of the few who is not restricted as he does not own any Russian enterprises in the last few years.
I also admire the balls Joe Tsai had in attempting the latest with Durant/harden/Kyrie. I know its the nets and Durant teased us and never came through, but the ambition by Tsai to fund that run was cool. Knick fans are no doubt delighted!!!!

That Sean Marks has been there post Billy King to rebuild and then administer this recent star-phuch(in the end, thats all its been) is really quite interesting. Two owners and he survived. Make no mistake about it, both reiterations of "ambitions" are the creations of their owners. GM's don't get to spend that kind of money without a directive.

Love or hate the Nets are a very interesting franchise!!!!
