Knicks · Josh Hart to Knicks (page 17)

Starks has really aged well in our memories. he was also a loose cannon and indisciplined hot head at times.

Reapeat: At times.

Hart comes from a two time champ program at a good school. 4 year player who graduated from a good school.
https://villanova.com/sports/mens-basket...

Starks went to 4 colleges in 4 years. He could play. Undrafted played 36 games for GSW at age 23. Next year he played in the CBA.
Bagged Groceries, introduced Crack Cocaine to Tulsa selling it. Rough start.
He was erratic on and off the court. Not all was smooth.
He could ball. He was raw and emotional. In the end he did good in his own way.
But lets not compare Starks to JHart. Different on and off the court. Jhart is more iggy, GOod head on his shoulders, good glue guy that gets what needs to be done.
Lets hope he can help us get a ring.

Elements Nalod, Elements! You're taking this comp further than fish or I did. JHart brings that same energy off the bench that Starks did. Gets the crowd fired up. He's the spark off the bench we needed.

Starks had great foot speed, so does Grimes. Grimes needs work on his drives, to be as adept as Starks was at attacking the rim.

Elements Nalod, Elements!

Hit the nail on the head.

NYKMentality wrote:This is awesome and an immediate addition by substraction.

A.) Tom Thibs didn't like Cam Reddish.
B.) Josh Hart is a Thibs esque Player.

Not only that but also has chemistry with Jalen Brunson dating back to their Villanova Championship days.

He's a scrappy Defender. He doesn't turn the ball over. Very high IQ and an extremely efficient Offensive player from the field and last but not least; has played multiple years @ SF (including this year ).

NYKMentality wrote:But yea in regards to Josh Hart? Him becoming the NBA's most dominant rebounding wing player shouldn't be a shocker to anyone, see below....

They were all awesome kids but Josh Hart was actually the best (overall) player on that Villanova Championship winning squad.

I'm so fired up over this trade.

Whenever I watch today's Knicks, they remind me so much of those 90's teams. Passionate teams with a couple of hot heads, young unproven players, average vets and several lower IQ players. There were so many hard to watch wins which they made tougher than they had to be. But they fought hard, were tough as nails and got the job done. You had Ewing who was never given his props. Starks who was the hot head and sometimes a low IQ player. And toughness from Oak and Mase. They had a couple of decent youngins in Davis, Christie and Ward. Hopefully they have some of their success.

I think Ewing got plenty of props for his run here but he was salty at times and at the end of his career he wanted his money and the ball. It did not end in glorious fashion as we saw soft shouldered version of him in a Sonic, then Magic uniform. The pride never dimmed as his body softened. Still beloved and respected as the greatest knick.

What we often over look too is Willis as ROY in 1964 and his years as PF with Walt Bellamy at center. Willis was a form of in prime Antonio Mcdyess and what we are seeing in Randle. An athletic 4 with range and hops.
Different era of course. Bellamy was an allstar but not a team kind of guy. Willis first era was not a great team but he was. This was before my time. He is of course revered as the 2nd greatest knick, Clyde is after that. In Nalod's heart, Clyde is my no. 1.

Does the current team remind me of the 90's? That was along decade. There was part one under riley, then part two under JVG. My short answer is no. Or not yet. This team was a few games over .500 and then has had this wins streak. Brunson is just 60 some odd games into his knick era and Randle is a better version of Mase, but thats kind of it. I don't see this team as striking fear on defense and sending guys to the floor. Rules are different. Josh Hart been here just 10 games and 9-1 is wonderful but thats it.
Part 2 had the elegant Allan Houston and Im not seeing Grimes as that. Quentin either catch's and shoots or bolts to the rim. He is far quicker with the ball doing what he did than H20 who used footwork to create space. Grimes makes super fast decisons. Maybe a bit early to do this. IQ does not have the Chris Childs or Greg Anthony snarl. He is more finesse. IQ has bite, not much bark.

saw this... will be really interesting. He's not a starter. Im surprised if he gets more than Mitch but who knows? My guess is about 4/$50... about $12mm per

Either way he's obviously a great fit. He can play big but he's really a SG, and Grimes/IQ/RJ are also "really SGs" so there's some lack of balance but he's he plays the Thibs way

I think Josh's contract will start $15-17M and go for 4 years.

$15M....2 plus 1.

Josh Hart was the driver and identity of the Knicks in yesterday's win. He was the consumate 2 way player, filled the stat sheet: 9 RB, 16 pts, 8 assists with a Plus 26+/-.
Played practically the entire second half, and the most minutes on the team.

Not that it matters, but Cam Reddish was a big fat ZERO in 18 mins. Worst plus/minus of any player on the floor.

Right, but without the age and miles. And with defense.

Yes, hoping he's not the 14th man 2 years from now.

Josh Hart made Cam Reddish look absolutely, horrendous (once in the same court as one another).

New York Knicks = 11-3 overall @ .785% since trading away Cam Reddish (8 games above .500).

Trailblazers = 4-10 overall @ only .285% since losing Josh Hart (6 games below .500).

New York absolutely FLEECED Portland

Blazers got a first rounder and a lottery ticket for a role player they clearly had no intention of resigning.

That's decent value.

But yeah, I get it. A mutually advantageous trade is a dirty word to the "fleece" fans.

I covered this already.
