If he stays 9 deep Deuce is out. Grimes could have some reduced as Hart/RJ wings.
Looking just at this season. Who knows after this.
If Obi gets dumped for a pick, RJ can play back up there.
I would like some size behind Randle but Obi is here and restricted so nothing has to be done yet.
Day is young still.
Im a fan of Grimes but Hart could start. Grimes has hit a bit of a wall.
Not saying it lasts forever.
I know what fans think of RJ, we don’t know what knicks coaches and FO does. My fanboy in me does not allow objectivity but I think we have over relied on him and while he is in his 4th year, he still is 22 and might have hit an exhaustion wall to some extent.
He does shine at end of games.
I doubt he goes to the bench and Hart plays the 3. He is a guard.
If Grimes is expendable does that open him up to be part of a big trade? Just talking out loud. If OG was on the table and Raptors wanted him we it palatable for us to move him.
Suprised Toronto has been quiet thus far.

put the pipe down!
I know this team is frustrating to watch, but with this deal, assuming we don't have any major player injuries to Randle or JB, I think we're a lock to make the play offs.

Grimes doesnt strike me as the kind of player who can get buckets in his sleep. Hurt you a bunch of different ways on the court. Thats what you need from a starting SG, and Grimes doesnt give you that.
Grimes does give you elite defense, next level passing at times, and 3 point shooting at times. Every shooting guard in the league is scoring more. Would rather have Hart or Quickley start.
At least as a PG, Grimes can use his burst to get open looks, find teammates. Otherwise its mostly about Grimes being a defensive specialist. Thats not enough of a reason to start.
A new guy who won’t be in the rotation. Cool.
Who, Josh Hart? He will definitely be in the rotation. He is a Thibs player.

Brunson cant wait to get the second half started, with his old college teammate.

So who is getting injured?

More like who is on thin ice?
This is another guy that can't shoot 3's though

You don't have enough imagination to figure out how this will play out with Josh getting minutes?
This is not rocket science.
You know what the wild part is?
I don't know if the Knicks could have done this trade WITHOUT trading for Cam a year ago, as strange as that sounds.
Would POR have taken the CHA first (in the Cam deal and now probably considered a lock to transfer to 2 second round picks) and the 2023 pick and Knox (or other dead weight salary) for example for salary?
Prob not?

there's gonna be the doom and gloomers. I was not a huge fan or proponent of trading any picks for role player, but Hart is a REALLY GOOD role player and is such a good fit it just makes a ton of sense. He will really help and fit in.

Randle - 36
Mitch - 27
IQ - 28

Brunson - 35
J Hart - 30
Barrett - 28
Randle - 35
Mitch - 27
IQ - 25

Yeah not too bad. I'd say that Brunson's minutes would come down too and given to IQ.
We should have traded for Jae Crowder instead, given that he cost Milwaukee 5 second rounders, almost the same as what we gave up for Hart.
The similarities and overlap between Grimes, IQ, Deuce is wild to me, in a good way
Like it! Needed another dirty work wing in the rotation.

Is FO shifting on RJ long term?
Having thoughts/fears of Zach Lavine.
RJ, Obi, Rose and picks for Zach.
Thoughts getting stronger.

And if we hold on to Toppin (and tell him his timeout is over) we could potentially have 2 players that move without the ball
