Knicks · Nets have a glut of wings: Shouldn't we be offering three firsts for Bridges? (page 1)

Chandler @ 2/9/2023 11:16 AM
seems like a potentially better fit than OG anyway.

i have to think Nets are thinking tear down and rebuild

Rookie @ 2/9/2023 11:20 AM
Bridges was the best incoming player for the Nets. You are going to have to give a good player and picks in any deal for Bridges who is on a great controllable contract. If he is gettable it’s going to hurt
Knixkik @ 2/9/2023 11:23 AM
I would absolutely love Bridges. Hard to see the nets moving him here but it would be awesome.

C Robinson
PF Randle
SF Bridges
SG Barrett
PG Brunson
IQ, Hart, Grimes and Hartenstein off the bench.

Wow that would be awesome.

Caseloads @ 2/9/2023 11:24 AM
for a player we could have drafted if we didn't take knox? no.
Knixkik @ 2/9/2023 11:28 AM
Just for fun.

Bridges for Rose, Toppin, 2024 unprotected pick (would roll over to 2025 if Dallas pick doesn’t convey), and one of the protected picks (Washington, Detroit, or Milwaukee)

Knicks will still have 3 Knicks picks and 3 other firsts for an eventually star trade.

Chandler @ 2/9/2023 11:35 AM

I can't see Nets thinking he's untouchable. He's not the guy you build around so much as he's an invaluable piece if you have the other star assets

why would we think 3 FRPs for OG, but not Mikal?

fishmike @ 2/9/2023 11:42 AM
you gotta give them RJ.

Obi/RJ for Mikal works on the real GM trad thingy. You throw in a couple FRPs and I dont see how Brk doesnt do this. It really helps both team. Mikal isnt a tank player.

Knicks solidify a core of 26 year old vets in Brunson/Hart/Mikal with Jules being the old guy at 28. Around them remain Mitch/IHart/IQ/Grimes/McBride in the 24 and under crowd.

Brunson
Grimes
Bridges
Jules
Mitch
bench: IQ/JHart/IHart

Those would be my 8 guys. McBride/Sims rounding out the end of rotation depth

That's pretty good and you still have picks left, Rokas, etc

I don’t think Mikal is quite as good as OG, but you’re right it’s close. They are in the same category.

I have the opposite take, I think Mikal worth more than OG. Different players for sure but I'd rather Mikal.

Mikal doesn't miss games, really good outside shooter.

He won't guard you PFs in the same way as OG but he has got some other things going on too like his contract.

Nets don't want to tank though, right? They don't own their own picks?

Regardless, I do think the Knicks should make a legit offer for either bridges or Cam Johnson. Bridges would be a really good starting SF. Johnson would essentially replace Toppin as backup 4 but also play some 3. He can really shoot and is a good defender. For what it’s worth he’s CAA too. Either player would improve the team dramatically and both are young. Knicks can offer the 2-3 picks for either of them and still have plenty for a future star run. You have a team of Randle and Brunson surrounded by this level of high end role players (IQ, Grimes, Hart, Mitch, Barrett, bridges or cam) and this is a team that can legitimately take a big step forward and be a star away from contender level. But the question is would the nets make a trade with the Knicks?

Knixkik @ 2/9/2023 11:54 AM
Nets got 4 first round picks. They could trade bridges for 3 and Johnson for 2. Imagine moving KD at age 35 for 8-9 first round picks, a majority of which unprotected ?
martin @ 2/9/2023 11:54 AM
Shucks, but it's not a closed door

Yeah that’s too bad. But they intended to keep KD too right ? Even so, I’d love Cam Johnson.

Right right right, we need a Cam back on team.

What's his game outside of shooting? I don't know him

They're comparable value.

OG is better suited for guarding say a Luka but Mikal is a way better shooter.

I would do RJ for Mikal in a heartbeat

Of course they would say that. They're looking for an offer they can't refuse and playing hard to get

So do I, its to bad we drafted Kevin Knox. Guy fits this roster like a glove.

GustavBahler @ 2/9/2023 12:21 PM
Last big deal with the Nets I can remember was Chris Childs.

I would prefer Mikal as well. A 6'8" long wingspan combo forward is the biggest need this team has. OG would be great to don't get me wrong but I would pony up more for Mikal
