Not a must win but man it will feel real good if we do and real bad if we don't.
It's a 100 percent a must win.
After the ass kicking they gave us last time, if they we lose at home to the new look nets without Irving and Durant, cancel the season!
We need to send a message tonight.

We need to send a message tonight.
It does get to the heart of what kind of team we want to be.
On paper, our group has been together all season. The new kid goes back with Brunson.
Maybe we're playing some of the best ball of the season.
And the Nets just blew up and traded their two stars away- and sure, everyone has motivation to prove that they belong in the league and are better players than they were given credit for.
Are we a good bad team or bad good team?

It's a game.
We don't get to call it a must-win and lose and then call the hawks game a must-win in two days.
Must wins are binary.
If they don't win, that's it. No do-overs.

Nets are much deeper than when we played them last.
They have all these young solid players now. Almost too many
Wish they would have traded some to us. But something they would never do.
They played tough last two games.

For some every quarter is must win. That's fine, it takes all temperaments to make a message board. But get that blood pressure checked.

Agree 100%. If the season was over now and we faced them in the playoffs the pressure to win would be on us because we have had more continuity over the last number of years. Their record is a result of having had superstars which is no longer the case. This is the most important game of the season so far imho. Given the circumstances that have lead each of our teams to where we are. The Nets are supposed to go down in the standings and we are one of the teams that's expected to deliver the smackdown.
Logic says our ceiling is the 5th seed. Floor should be 8th seed. Naturally Wiz, Raptors, and Bulls would have to really put it together to make run.
As it stands we'd host the Hawks in the play in.
we need to put together a string of wins. We looked pretty cohesive last game so hoping for more of that
New York = 31-27 (15-15 @ Home).
Vs.
Nets = 33-23 (16-12 on the Road).
If we're to move up in the standings?
This is 100% a must win game.
Right now the Nets are 3.0 games ahead of us with only 24 games remaining. A win and we're only 2.0 games back of them (1 more H2H game vs. each other) in comparison to a loss and we're 4.0 games back of them (while running out of time) etc.
So yes.
If we're to potentially pass Brooklyn within the Standings?
Tonight is 100% a must win.
In regards to tonight's game?
Now that Brooklyn no longer has all 3 of Kyrie Irving, James Harden, KEVIN DURANT (I'm absolutely, loving it) and probably don't have as much team chemistry and/or players cohesiveness when in comparison to our up and coming Knicks There's no excuse to lose a 10th consecutive game to this Franchise and if anything we should destroy them by 20+, run them off of our court and send them back to where they belong (the dumpster of New Jersey).
Speaking of "BIG-3".
The Nets no longer have a big-3. But our Knicks do ala Jalen Brunson/R.J. Barrett/Julius Randle = the only NBA team that features 3 20 Point Scorers (within the entire league).
And I couldn't care less what anyone says; you'll be hard pressed to find a 4th option who averages 12.6 PPG with 20+ potential (Immanuel Quickley).
And being excited to run-it-back with Josh Hart would be an understatement for us.
"SUPER TEAM"
More like, SUPER-BUST!
🤣😂🤣ðŸ˜ðŸ—½ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£
A foreign journalist asked someone playing in the super bowl if the game was a "must win". The player looked at him like he was crazy, and the reporter wouldnt let up until the player said that winning the super bowl was a must win. That was funny.

Okay.
So what happens if they don't win?
What then?

Why did you take my post out of context?
Why did you leave out this part (below)...
If we're to potentially pass Brooklyn within the Standings?
Tonight is 100% a must win.
Why didn't you include the actual meaning behind the must win?
You wanna be 4 games back of Brooklyn with an L despite only 23 games remaining or would we have a 100% better chance of passing them while only 2 games back of Brooklyn with 23 games remaining?
It's called, common sense.

So lose tonight, you're out of the 'Knicks can catch them' game.
Lose tonight, and that's IT for catching the Nets, period?

lol. My two cents.
You stated that it is a "must win if we are to potentially pass the Nets in the standings"?
A "Must win" is where the loss results in irreversible conclusion.
Ie. The deciding game of a series.
If the Knicks lose tonight, how is it then impossible for Knicks to overtake the Nets in the standings?
Regardless, let's kick some ass.
Do think the argument some are using about them not having "Superstars" to suggest it is an easy win ignores the really good players they added and that ONLY Irving played the last time they easily beat us. Imo, their depth will make them better than a team with just Irving.
Cam Johnson, Dinwiddie, Bridges, Cam Thomas, Finney Smith, Claxton, Harris, O'Neal, Mills, Curry, Watanabe is a really deep roster.
But like I said, let's kick some ass.

How did they easily beat us last game when it was an extremely close game until the final minutes/seconds?
And none of those mediocre/average/no name players can hold Kyrie Irving's jockstrap on an NBA Court ala Kyrie Irving absolutely destroyed us last game (especially in the 4th Q) with 32 Points, 9 Assists, 6 Rebounds and 2 Steals along with a +/- of +17.
I'd literally trade every single Nets player you named for just 1 Kyrie Irving and I'm just excited to know they're no longer got Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Kevin Durant + Ben Simmons (waste) has just been benched for Brooklyn.
And I agree; let's kick some ass because this place will be on 🔥🔥🔥🔥 afterwards. I'm already getting the feeling this Knicks vs. Nets game thread will break UK's 2022-2023 Record for most posts within a single game thread (I'm already loving the atmosphere).
Maybe I'm alone on this point, but as a team that will be deep and motivated. I think this game will be even harder to win without Irving. Bridges can't believe he was traded and will be motivated to prove the suns wrong, especially against the Knicks.
Can JB continue this stretch of 30 plus?
Can Hart repeat his impact from his first game?
Will RJ be more consistent this game?
The knicks are a team that can beat anybody and lose to anybody. So it doesn't matter who we are playing. What matters is our own chemistry and team building. If we play like we did last game we win. If not we might lose. We are our own worst enemy. And thats the case for a development team with a mix of young players and vets in their prime.
Grimes should be hungry this game, which might be the difference maker.
But I think with Hart on the team, JB and Randle will continue to play solid. And Harts energy on defense will spread to other young 2-way players like IQ and Grimes.

The better question is why are you taking a very overt bleeding heart Knicks fan literally? You can't tell that about his posts? It's not clear enough?
