At the end of regulation time, who made the decision to let Randle operate from the top of the key after IQ, the most efficient player we had on the floor last night, meekly gave up the ball to him? After watching both players the entire game, how could Thibs think Randle was the best option on this night?
As IQ brought it up I was thinking that on this night, he had earned the right to have the ball in his hands the final 10 seconds. Couldn't believe when he handed it off to JR.
Randle called ball each time. He stopped calling ball in the second overtime. Boston has a great plan to shit him down - make him dribble with his back to the action.

Nothing was "embarrassing" about Julius Randle's performance last night.
You might look @ "7 Turnovers" and harp all over it without context such as being double teamed without his elite Starting PG while on the road @ Boston vs last years NBA Finals team & this years #2 team etc
And he drops 31 Points, 9 Rebounds, 4 Assists and 1 Steal off of 11/22 (.500%) + a momentum shifting/game changing buzzer beating 3 (after Miami's buzzer beater game winner).
With 46 minutes of GRIND.
And we're talking turnovers?
Cool. Nice to know.
I mean, yeah. Should look at some tape on those turnovers. They were preventable if Randle kept his head up. Still time in his career to correct that. He’s given up on a spin overs. Now he has to cure his blind dribble pickpocketed plays. Just face the basket. He made it work va Miami, but he has to trust his teammates to make their plays when he is tripled.
Let's give RJ some credit for last night. He really did step up without Brunson and was hitting his shots early. Played good defense for the most part too. And after Quickley, he led the team in minutes at 50!
Love Grimes, but holy cow would RJ be getting destroyed if he committed that same foul at end of regulation.
So this pretty much is the perfect description of what is going on with IQ on defense
I'm still not over this one

I said this in the Quickly gonna get paid thread.
Quickly is playing at Nintendo speed, everyone else is real world. He's starting to use Jalen's moves in the paint - he didn't hit on some like Jalen does, but watch out when he does because he might be unstoppable.
I don't think he realizes that he can get into the lane just about at will.
My only criticism is he needs to tone down the celebrations - after the game ok, but hitting big buckets during the game - there is still a chance for the other team to come back, don't give them motivational material. Just act like you are surprised it went in and go back on d.
Down 17 without Brunson in Boston in Double OT? This was a character win and the league should be put on notice!
IQ earned himself an increase on that upcoming contract with this game and his play the last few month's. Signing long term is a MUST! He is a foundational player! He is in a lot of ways the perfect third guard! He can run the point or play off the ball and defends like crazy and he is a good kid with great work ethic and character! Just look at where he's coming from since his rookie season! Last night he was just unguardable and he did it against a great defense led by the defending DPTY. Every time it seemed Boston was pulling away in the OTs, IQ would hit a shot! Be it a 30' three, a dunk or a floater in that double OT! He was insanely good! So proud of him!
Also proud of RJ! With Brunson out we needed a big game and RJ delivered! Randle had a nice game and hit some big shots especially that last step back three but it reminded me so much of last season with the turnovers. If there is one player who benefits most from having Brunson it's Randle. Hart gave us another great intangibles game with timely shots and just great defense!
Only negatives were the offensive rebounds and turnovers but we got it done anyway. Just a great feeling to be a Knicks fan right now! Feel super proud! All credit to these players, Thibs and the entire team! They are shocking the world and putting respect back on this franchise!

His endorphins were flowing last night! Euphoric responses was funny to see. I too would like to see him tone it down and act like he “been here before” but at the same time it was a delightful game to see!
At some point perhaps.

It was a sloppy win with two punch drunk teams that forgot teams can sub in over time!
Those matter as much as pretty wins.

100%
In another thread I meant to respond to djsu about why I would not trade IQ for OG in a trade scenario that would - give or take - be a swap of those 2 players.
One of the reasons was I think IQ has a defensive BBallIQ ceiling somewhere near Draymond Green. From a different position, so his effectiveness would be different, but near that level. It's extremely high.
Once IQ gets his handle and footwork to the point where it's even shiftier, he will be unstoppable in a different way than Brunson but with same effectiveness. It's exciting to watch

No way would I trade him for OG. He’s a building block for what we are trying to do.
Knicks fans can harp on Julius end game iso's but Tatum doing the same level of mishaps over the course of the last 2 Boston Knicks games, just for the other team. A lot of very good, some not so good.
And Tatum's team lost twice.
Still bitter the next day that Breen, JVG didn't call this game
