If nets gave us 3 unprotected firsts from other teams, would you take on Ben Simmons?
Could he be rehabilitated here into a productive back up PG? Just need defense and passing.
Nope we're already developing Rokas Jokubaitis as our backup PG of the future and he's absolutely FEASTING overseas as Euro's Rising Star.
Ben Simmons can't make this team.
We're too stacked for him.

There is zero benefit for Brooklyn. They can just sit him and not waste the picks.

Which is what they are doing

It's way too early on Monday and I'm still mainlining coffee.
Why are they trading 3 picks for Ben to sit on someone else's bench?
I remember people arguing something similar hen we traded for Anthony Randolph
I don't see any value whatsoever in bringing his fragile self to rehab him... I see him as a detriment to the locker room, which is this team's greatest attribute. These guys would run through walls for each other. FUCK NO TO BEN SIMMONS
I would take him if it meant getting bridges too.

I suppose the thought is a salary dump?

Assuming in the highly unlikely event that both the Knicks and Nets would even do this....
First Question - what are you proposing sending back to the Nets in order to make this work from a salary perspective? Simmons will make $37.9M next year and the Knicks are over the Cap.
Second Question - who's minutes are you giving to Simmons? IQ is the backup PG and starting to bust out bigtime and Rokas is looking pretty good in Spain.
If the NETS offered three picks for us to take Simmons, I still would LAUGH in their face. The dude is making over $35 million a year, and he is essentially DONE. Leave Simmons where be belongs. Let him be the Nets' problem.

You understand the salary cap implications of this, right?
Fournier... AND..??

Can't dump salary on the Knicks.
i still see him ending up on the celtics as a project Giannis-stopper

I'll take a hypothetical shot and combine this thread into another forum current "frequent theme"
Knicks pick-up Rose' option and package him to the Nets with RJ for Simmons and 3 unprotected FRPs. It works from a salary perspective - Knicks might do it given the right amount of picks. Not sure the Nets would do it unless they were able to move other wings on the roster.

I mean technically that could happen, but I don't recall anyone's option being picked up only to trade them immediately. That's a lot of moving parts (having a handshake deal with Nets before picking up the option) and I don't know the Knicks do it without Rose being on board.
And as always, if you looking for a team to dump salary and unprotected firsts on, look at OKC first.
I would take him on for DRose and EF and receive 3 1st round picks. If we could fix him.

You'd have to have an unofficial deal in place with the Nets, and then tell Rose you're picking up his option JUST to trade him to Brooklyn.
That seems unlikely.
Either way, you're then pretty much locked out of the trade market for a star for a couple of years.
Why would Nets spend 3 unprotected picks to dump him? Does that really open the cap space to sign someone that does not exist anytime soon?
Why they want RJ when they have Bridges?
If Johnny Bryant thinks he can fix him, then yeah I make a move for him somehow. I'll keep an open mind beyond our affinity for our young guys.
Simons has a black cloud over him.
If the risk out weighs the reward, don't do it. Personally I don't see the reward, just the risks.
