Seemed odd that JVG's take on Randle was the same as what Breen has been suggesting throughout the year. Seemed as though JVG 's views, that night, were more of a snip perhaps of a conversation they may have had prior to the game. Unfortunately, my friend was not involved with that game so just speculating. But Knicks commentary seemed negative yet again. Even after Randle proved their narratives wring. Additionally, we have seen Walt's comments on RJ that were less than complimentary. Thought it a bit shortsighted of a 22 year old. Hate to say it but have noticed a bit of jealousy at times from Walt. Especially kids making a lot of money. And yes I get it, must be hard watching mediocre players get the kind of money that makes what he was .along as a days work. Point is, think we have enough negative takes from the majority of the non Knicks sports media.
We don't need that from our own sportscasters. Especially when we have so many positive stories to talk about. JB, IQ, Randles All Star season, age of roster, FO success, Thibs success and our assets going forward.
Some mentioned the take on Blazers game thread as reason to suggest Randle can't play without Brunson and should be traded. Despite the two wins in a row without JB against a rolling Lakers team and a team with Simmons, who lit us up with Brunson and probably one of the best offensive players in NBA history in Lillard. Negative takes just don't take more important things into perspective. Have said several times that guys like Randle and RJ are not perfect. But the easy thing is to focus what they can't do and ignore other important variables.
Imho, Just so many more positives to talk about from OUR broadcasters. .
I watch the games on a laptop w/o sound...So I can't comment on the commentary either way, but I'd need specific comments/criticism, and I don't see any here.
There is a lot to be critical of, though. In many games the toughness of individuals on this team gets us the W, despite some truly idiotic decision making and 1/1 hero ball. I've never been as frustrated with a good team as I am with the Knicks, because guys like Randle and RJ play like college freshmen at times.
I'm going to guess Clyde gets upset when JR & RJ continue to dribble & hold the ball even when they are double or triple teamed. Both of them, especially Randle, ignore open teammates at times.
If this was a developing team, I expect Clyde would be kinder, but this is a contending team, and certain players try to do to much while ignoring teammates. Like Clyde, I expect more from the guys on this team. so criticism by Walt, or anyone else, is fine with me.
