Knicks · [Game Thread 3/22/23] Grudge match @ Miami- playin at stake 7:30PM (page 4)

I don't know what has happened to our defense but if we don't fix it quickly we are going to have a repeat of the Hawks series! Just inexcuseable to play that poorly after the effort against the Wolves! The cHeat are one of the worst offensive teams in the entire league and we allowed them to drop 127 points and 16 threes.

I know the zebras were awful and biased the entire game but we still did not deserve to win this game with that effort. Our defense starts with the key guys playing with the proper energy and concentration and I've seen a huge drop off in those areas in Grimes, Hart, Rob and IQ. Thibs also needs to do a better job here. If any of these guys are slacking, bring in Deuce! And Brunson, RJ and especially Randle (stop leaving your damn man wide open!!) need to pick it up as well!

If we fancy ourselves as a team that is going to outscore teams and don't need to bother playing defense or rebounding or taking care of the ball, we are going to get embarrassed in the playoffs like two years ago.

Anyway, so much respect to Clyde. I thought he handled himself perfectly as always in honoring his friend Willis and told so many great stories. Chuckled at Reed getting Clyde a date as a rookie the first day he met him! Breen was great as well. We are so freaking lucky to have these two calling games! Enjoy them cause they won't be here forever!

looked to me like team-d switching is off, possibly due to late season fatigue. Teams seem to know how to get wide open 3s against us due to this. That, plus our own scoring is off and those turnovers are killing us.

WTF is going on with RJ? He keeps regressing...might be a crisis of confidence. Timing es no bueno.

Maybe gassed. Thibs running a small rotation worked. But it doesnt seem to be working now, going into a playoff run.

If they're tired now....

Can't use fatigue as an excuse when they scoring 134 and 120 points.

Of course you can. Defense also requires stamina.

I watched the game but fell asleep. Watched the end of 3rd and 4th period this morning.
I did not see the egregious anti knick ref slant. Home cooking is home cooking and not saying I agree with everytging but our guys where getting to the line.

Rj Been playing like this for a while. Put it in a box, if he playing consistent but career been inconsistent, he RJ homer has hope, but the fan that thinks all college wings we can draft will be more consisatant, and any star will stay healthy.
I won’t predict his future, but he is 22. Jimmy Butler was not Jimmy butler until he was like 24 or 25.

Kyle Lowrey is an older Jalen Brunson. Thats a compliment for both.
Miami is healthy. They are not quite done.

While easy to say after two games, but we are really not that good yet that we can talk shit about 4th seed or perhaps 5th.
I know its been good and fun, but gravity is not easy to break and this team has done a very good job thus far.

Im sad if we get bounced in the first round, of course if we actually get there, some of you will be pissed and not have enjoyed the growth of this team. Its like “Blowing a lead”. You enjoy it but when the other team comes back its like “We blew it”.

If we to have “struggled to make play in”, and we do, we succeed. If we make the 5th or 6 seed we will have succeeded even more.
If we lose there after I hope some of you will be ok with the season as a whole.

Heat have not been good offensively but………..That stat does not play into them being healthier, and Love getting used to his his new role and them with him.
Josh Hart had a good game, but he too struggled a bit on defense. We got torched.
Randle body language was better but he did drop a “fuck you” to ref for his Tech. I don’t have a problem with him not scoring 30. He did other things and seemed to pace himself. They defended him well as they did brunson. RJ stepped up. Grimes got going early and showed some good stuff. If he keep it up he gets more opportunity. IQ did not have a happy IQ game. It happens. Young players are not consistent.
Heat defense is no joke.

Knicks are a good team. How good? Fans hopes and dreams don’t determine it. They are in a good spot for the 5th seed.
Two years ago we dove over the finish line after 72 games for the 4th. If we played 10 more we might have fallen to 5th? ATL was coming on strong too! Perhaps Miami was in the mix. Evident by their finals run, they were surging.

Ebb and flow. This team has had two 8 game wins streaks and some bad ones too. At the end of the season teams are seeded but not be playing up to it at the 82nd. Sometimes, like we did in 1999 are better than the 8th. We underperformed all season long and JVG was on the hot seat. Very Hot.
Boston might be on the way down and miami on the way up. Not that easy but you get the point.
Hard to say where we are. Seems tweets with tilted stats catch our eye and influence us.
Refs, Silver, consiracy’s and love/hate don’t tell the story in the end. Teams can start good and finish bad. Thats who you are. visa versa. The games tell the tale.

Go knicks!!!

martin @ 3/23/2023 4:53 PM
the ref is looking right at this... how does this just get let go?

Foul and a tech and ball? I don't even know what the right call would be

Nice thread title and fortunately the Knicks weren't playing for no "Play-In".

Now teams such as...

Brooklyn.
Miami.
Atlanta.
Toronto.
Chicago.

?

Unfortunately (for themselves) they're all fighting to either not play in the Play-In and/or to have an opportunity in the Play-In.

But the Knicks + "Play-In" = Doesn't belong within the same sentence.
