Taking a look at the 2022-2023 All-NBA Team results.
Starting next season, players will need to play a minimum of 65 regular season games (79%) to qualify for the teams.
Under this new rule, 5 of these players wouldn't qualify. That's a whole team worth.
The NBA has had a problem with load management in recent years which contributes to the low game counts from the stars.
Here's a run down of the 11 out of 15 all-NBA players that didn't reach 70 (85%) games played this season.
Lebron 55 (3rd)
Curry 56 (2nd)
Lillard 58 (3rd)
Giannis 63 (1st)
Butler 64 (2nd)
Doncic 66 (1st)
Embiid 66 (1st)
Jaylen Brown 67 (2nd)
SGA 68 (1st)
Mitchell 68 (2nd)
Jokic 69 (1st)
For reference:
Randle 77 (3rd)
RJ 73
Brunson 68
Haliburton 56

I love it. They going to have to take the regular season more seriously. If they were really injured then they missed enough games where they should not win anyway.
Great rule by the league. Fans get better value and players have to earn that bag now.
This include other awards?
Nugs stomp the Suns and KD to elimination. So sad 😭
Did the league say what counts as a game played? Can a player go in for a single play, and have that considered a game played?
So happy to wake up and find out KD has been eliminated! I like Booker and I have no issues with any of the Suns players or organization but I cannot stand KD and his misery makes me happy.
Too bad he'll now ask to be traded to the Nuggets.

So the newly minted 65 game minimum is for: MVP, DPOTY, ROY, All-NBA, and All-Def teams. The player must play at least 20 minutes for 65 games.
There are some protections (I reckon would need to be reviewed by the league) for season-ending injury (62 games), up to 2 near misses (two games where they played 15+ minutes but less than 20) and bad faith.
I take bad faith circumstances as a player with a max deal would need 65 games to be on an All-NBA team to get their contract converted to a supermax deal, and the team held them out so they wouldn't reach the threshold to qualify.
Just looking at the All-defensive teams our DPOTY JJJ wouldn't qualify - OR perhaps would get a pass because he had an official injury to start the year. 3 others only played 67 games:
JJJ - 63 (1st) - also DPOTY.
OG - 67 (2nd)
Jrue - 67 (1st)
Caruso - 67 (1st)

I want the "not cool" Knicks to win no matter what obviously, but getting further in the playoffs than that diva would make it extra sweet.
Interesting. I'm wondering how the Suns will be able to flip Paul and Ayton. Toronto and FVV would be interesting. Not sure Masai would bite on Ayton, but he might go for the Paul contract and picks.

Once Utah traded Gobert they could have improved their roster around Mitchel. But F Danny Ainge
I see that Philly superstars and all stars Embiid, Harden and Harris doing their best Knicks shooting impression.
"The Process" started about a decade ago in Philly and they are about to lose again and the Sixers have gotten as far as the Knicks have in the playoffs in that same time period: Eastern Conference Semis and it only took Knicks FO 3 years to put it together.
Take that for data.

Well it is when Dallas falls to the 10th pick slot and in the process pisses off Silver enough by bagging the play-in process. We shall see how that ends up

10 pts in the 3rd for the Sixers....Pathic for a game 7! They flat out quit. At least we went out clawing ans scratching and our MVP, Brunson, left it all out there. Meanwhile, Embiid spent the majority of the game hanging out 25 feet from the basket
Harden making everyone forget about Randle lol
