Miami has flipped the script on the NBA. Slow the game all the way down - shoot with 5 or less on the clock, grind it on defense with zone.

Its one of the great coaching jobs in league history.

ALso I keep saying this, but we have to get Caleb Martin's twin over here. This guy has been a game changer.

C’mon many, Cody might not be as good and these guys are not interchangable.
Been watching the twins for years from the time they both were at NC State and with the Hornets. They went undrafted after transfering to Nevada.
Nobody saw this coming and Caleb got to start 49 games this year obviously demonstrated his his rise AT AGE 27!!!!!
Kid is listed as 6-5 and 205.

So we fawn over this kid as if he is now Paul George and want him. The key is getting these guys before they rise like this.

So why did he all of a sudden “come of age” after 4 years in the NBA? He did not get to the league until age 24!
Cody only played 7 games this season. Knee injury. Prior to that nothing special. Not saying no, but not saying he is Caleb, who has one more year on a 6mm contract left. I get it, he looks like Mykal Bridges post season.

If youu want homegrown talent like this? We have one we call RJ Barrett. We all know his issues. That he was drafted 3rd and is paid nice matters. But take that away the issue should be potential.

At the end of the day why not take a flyer at Cody Martin and see if he can be a good back up. Honestly its about Caleb thought, isn’t it?

And what a great story this has become! Super happy for the kid. He might have been their MVP this series. I hope Jimmy buys him a nice car!! He earned it.

This was extremely painful even though I expected it. No secret I despise the cHeat! Sucks the game was over in the first minute with Tatum getting hurt. It's unbelievable how easy and how fortunate things always seem to play out for Miami. Most spoiled team in the NBA the last 20 years when you really think about it.

And I expect them to smoke Denver. I know they have Joker and they might be heavy favorites but Miami will find a way. They always do and I hate them for it.

To make it even worse, this makes the '99 Knicks irreverent. At least we had that and now we don't even have that either.

Spoiled? I know your hate runs deep and the city don’t really appreciate what they have, but they are like the street version of the lakers. They have to fight and claw for everything, They never rebuild fully, and never really suck.

Boston relative health outside of Brogdan got them to the game 7, were Miami been hobbled without Herro, and Jimmy has not been 100% most of the series. Gabe Vincent injury and his game 6 performance mattered. Until last night bostons big guns ere healthy.
Last night it was about Derrick White vs. Caleb Martin. Both role players this year, not stars.
Hard to watch two in conf foes go at it. It was good drama and a hell of a series.

I would expect Miami to have a foot under Jokic and Bam to continue setting those picks.
Reminds me of when SAS took out suns in the MDA/Nash era. year Suns won 60 games and met the Spurs. Someone freaking hipchecked Nash mid court and busted up his nose.
It was nasty. Spurs found a way to win. Miami does the same. Riley gets certain type of player and Spolestra gets the most from them. They are worthy villains.

I meant spoiled in the fact that they have 4 rings, 7 Finals appearances and won the 'Decision' all in just the last 17 years.

We will never top these accomplishments even in the next 200 years. Most teams won't. Miami is and has been spoiled.

Tatum turning his ankle on a Heat player who fell... well, geez. How incredible strategic. I wonder if the league should fine players on the floor for not even trying to move out of the way or protect themselves.

Anyway, these Heat players are really scrappy and are willing to do whatever they can to win.

Chandler @ 5/30/2023 11:13 AM
does scrappy include Bam standing on Brunson's leg when he was down? Or what Lowry tried to do to Jaylen when pinning his wrist and twisting his body (not sure if you saw that footage).

Yes they're scrappy but it seems every series the opponents are getting hurt. I put nothing past a Riley team.

KnickDanger @ 5/30/2023 12:17 PM
I’d like to believe in a League via the refs conspiracy but if that were the case we’d be looking at a Lakers/Celtics final.

Yea, they are one of the dirtiest teams in the NBA and that does not count injuries like Tatum where a player sprains an ankle by landing on a foot unless it was on purpose like what Caleb did to Brunson. In the first game this series Bam pinned Browns arm on one of his illegal screens and yanks him down.

Clean @ 5/30/2023 12:29 PM

I laugh at the Mavs when Luka does it.
I laugh at the Celtics when Smart does it.
I get pissed at Randle when he does it.

I understand the refs are not seeing/calling the stuff that happens to you. However, you don't compound it with giving up on the play.

Clean @ 5/30/2023 12:38 PM

This is the difference in regular season Heat vs playoff Heat. Playoff Jimmy is a nice story but outside of the 1st round its been their others shooting which is why I hated auto Jimmy doubles.

Force him left needs to be in bold letters on the scouting report now.

It's the new spinover and the word left-over is already taken.

With him we win the Heat series with the way they were packing the paint.

wow that's amazing shooting

Chandler @ 5/31/2023 1:25 PM
Denver has a few guys who can really shoot it. i don't think the Heat zone defense is going to be that effective this series.
Clean @ 6/1/2023 7:06 AM

Brunson played amazingly and this was the coverage he was seeing. Can you imagine how he would have played with 2 shooters on the court?

True, but once you get to that point of the play passing is harder and harder. Heat know where the shooters are and cut off the lanes. Not all the time but its been a staple of theirs for years.

Jimmy did not put up good numbers but heat are winning.

If Heat are succeeding, So is Jimmy. He does the little things that matter. They talk about his “will”. He pulls up guys like Martin and Duncan to higher levels. They start doing the little things better and before you know it the team is in a rhythm that very pleasant to watch. The ball movement is born from player movement.
And yeah, they are hitting their shots!!!!!
