Brunson played amazingly and this was the coverage he was seeing. Can you imagine how he would have played with 2 shooters on the court?

True, but once you get to that point of the play passing is harder and harder. Heat know where the shooters are and cut off the lanes. Not all the time but its been a staple of theirs for years.

Jimmy did not put up good numbers but heat are winning.

If Heat are succeeding, So is Jimmy. He does the little things that matter. They talk about his “will”. He pulls up guys like Martin and Duncan to higher levels. They start doing the little things better and before you know it the team is in a rhythm that very pleasant to watch. The ball movement is born from player movement.
And yeah, they are hitting their shots!!!!!

Cut off the lanes? He is being quadruple doubled. With everyone close enough to him that they could have tripped him if they stuck out a leg. There was only one lane cut off. The only lane cut off was to the weakside corner 3 because smart teams value not giving that up. Sadly giving that up is part of our defensive strat.

Dude, more than just this picture.
Defense give offense things to execute. I you do you win. Simple. Heat are very good at this stuff and have been for years.
Its why they eat leads with stops.

Grateful for Breen but Mark Jax and mr Contrarian JVG is really annoying.
Love JVG the coach of Knicks. The color man on a broadcast? Pass.
Prefer SVG.
Nalod @ 6/1/2023 10:05 PM
Healthy Murry and MPJ elevate this team to this level. Just first game and no telling how it finishes. We have talked about Miami a lot on these pages but not much about Denver.

Murry was a mid-high draft pick (swapped with Knicks) as part Melo, but MPJ needed patience, Jokic was a second round pick. Gordon via trade and 8th season with same coach. They lost Massai Ujiry, his successor Connelly and still they kept on point.
We see it over and over continuity matters. Kroenke's are doing something right over the years.

These fuckers are like bad villains. You think they dead and they get back up.
they eat leads. Sometimes its just to big to over come but they don't quit.
ToddTT @ 6/2/2023 3:29 AM

Knicks are a better matchup vs Denver.

ToddTT @ 6/2/2023 3:37 AM
Jokic with a triple double. 14 assists.

Good luck Heat.

I hope Embiid is enjoying his trophy.

agree. JVG's act is old and some of his ideas are nuts -- including his recent one to eliminate free throws. Mark Jax was never good IMO. I also find it strange he keeps sayin hand-down man-down. Isn't that a reference to gun violence, as are players' (including Melo's) three shots to the head. Seems very funny they allow that. We deserve better

would like to see some new people given a shot. Mark Jones and his fish-grease are tired too. ANd Reggie Miller and his blatant biases need a rest. I generally think he can do a good to great job but if certain teams are playing (not just Knicks) i find him unbearable.

the continuity issue is a cause and effect issue. If the coach/staff is good you keep them. if not keeping them around doesn't necessarily make them better.

this will be a short series and maybe a sweep.

Denver is very big at all key positions. Seeing Vincent on Gordon was comical

Joker can pick apart any defense and he has no trouble seeing over the top of Bam.

Murray impresses me every time i see him and MPJ is dialed in right now.

Aaron Rodgers already injured and the jets don’t want to sign a real backup qb

Chicken or the egg.
but panic vs patience also.
Some great ones got off to rocky starts. Coaches are not like 30 year old players. They can get better and learn.
Fizdale had a great charisma but lacked. One day might prove to be a good/great coach if given a chance.
Jason Kidd has now been given three chances. He is not a bad coach, just has not demonstrated to be excellent yet.
Did any Heat team fail to live up to potential in Spolestras long run? Has he become a better coach over the years learning thru experience and how to deal with it? I’d say yes.

Doc Rivers gets fired, he gets jobs the next day. His teams hit ceilings and its time to go.
Bud is stubborn and perhaps needs to change.
Monty gets fired and Detroit wants to build around him and threw big stupid money to him until he said yes. Reported he previously said no twice to them. Once because the team is young. Another because Detroit weather is dismal.

Coaches grow and expand thru experience and study of the craft.

Looks like nuggets have the right counter for Miami’s zone. Still can’t believe we passed on MPJ for Knox. MPJ was injured so we still would have been able to tank for the top pick in 2019 that turned into RJ and we’d now have both RJ and MPJ

You can’t believe it?
MPJ would have been a disaster here given the time off he has needed.
Like you said, we got Mitch Rob in the same draft. Things don’t always go as hoped.

Mark Jackson makes me want to dunk my head in a bucket of Quikrete.

Clean @ 6/2/2023 11:41 AM
I could not watch the game but from what the sports shows are saying the Nuggets let Bam take whatever shot he wanted. He took something like a career high 25 shots. Like I said from the Knicks series you let him take whatever he wants because he is not going to beat you by himself. Even if he somehow does it once he won't be able to do it for 4 out of 7 games. From the highlights it is also different to double Jokic vs doubling Randle. Jokic has too high of a basketball IQ for that and made them pay. The Nuggets also used the person the Heat ignored on offense to set off ball screens for the open person jokic passed to. Hart would just hover around the 3pt line being useless.

martin @ 6/2/2023 12:20 PM
One of the Knicks best players takes mental breaks during the game or for games or even for a whole season it seems. Or they, you know, just accidentally step out of bounds for no particular reason at the end of tight games.

This is the level your best players need to be at to get to the highest level.

Clean @ 6/2/2023 1:58 PM
These days the things that gets me excited about basketball the most is high IQ players and coaches.
