Knicks · Quickley for Portland’s top-1 protected lotto pick? (page 1)

Are you really drafting someone better than IQ?

Immediately, no. Long term, possibly- amen Thompson, scoot, Brandon Miller, Hendricks likely have a higher ceiling and potential impact on the game. Iq has been incredible and exceeded all expectations. Sell high.

Knixkik @ 4/11/2023 7:52 AM
Not a chance.
fishmike @ 4/11/2023 9:38 AM
sure... #2 pick and Brandon Miller

That would be my price (and it would pain me greatly to make this deal). Otherwise pass.

or keep and use as a foundational player you win titles with

How do we know this is selling high on Quickley? Who says he can’t get better ?

Case stop it

The OP's proposal would be like winning a million dollars in the lottery. And using the winnings to buy a million lottery tickets.

Bruh, that's the "André" talking lol.

If IQ is traded, it should be for a clear upgrade, not the lotto.

what you are leaving out is we already have a million dollars. IQ plays the same position as Brunson, and Brunson is young. Brandon Miller is a blue chip star prospect with a the physical profile this roster is missing.

You arent trading IQ for a pick and taking the BPA. You are trading him for a clear shot to draft a star player you have extensively scouted. Nobody is looking back if the guy is the next Paul George or Kris Middleton

Still would be dumb trading a sure thing for a maybe.

so there is no prospect you would trade him for? Wemby? Nobody? Just gauging for context...

I believe we both agree that as stellar as IQ has been, he would'nt be enough to land Wembanyana. It would probably also take Grimes, Obi, and some 1st rounders That's the hype around this kid. We would likely have to trade our best young players, foundational players to get that number one pick.

Say its the second pick, which would likely be "Scoot Henderson". Knowing what I know about Quickley's game, his two-way skills. IQ's ability to pick apart defenses in transition, or a half-court set. I wouldnt do that trade straight up.

Quickley doesnt need any seasoning, beyond the playoffs. Nothing to wait on. IQ has shown he can play with pretty much whoever Thibs puts on the court. I believe that ability is very much underrated.

Beyond the top two. I havent heard of anyone worth taking that kind of a gamble.

EwingsGlass @ 4/11/2023 12:34 PM
I'm more likely to focus a rebuild around IQ than trade him. He has been playing so well lately, perhaps you move other players and build around IQ.
Nalod @ 4/11/2023 12:58 PM
I dont' see Portland trading for IQ if Dame is on the roster.

This is the thinking - if Brandon Miller turns out to be the next PG, the trade is worth it. We need a superstar.

Quick has really improved, he needs to be a starter elsewhere. For now, he is our Jordan Poole.

Plus - dame loves quick

Quick kind of untouchable particularly given how beat up Brunson is and that they play well together.

Keep the key roster players in tact —- move RJ

No No NO............

Im like RJ's mother these days!

My take is not who goes out but who comes in.
Im open to all ideas because at the end of the day its out of fans control and we root for who comes in!
Sad as it is to trade IQ if it gets us that much closer to contention then we gonna love that player.
Easy to say "lets trade RJ"......as if his replacement is a guaranteed fit.
Now, I know not all agree with me and not a thing I can say to convince anyone that I see improvement, and I see what's regressed and he is worth holding on to.
Why? Cuz I not expert in 22 year olds.
Me? Im old school. Im ok with short PG's but like my SG like Grimes.....6-5 and quick release shot! So yeah.
Im fine running the whole team back! Watch as many games as I have these kids are like family. Got us a grumpy Randle, the hard working Brunson, the light hearted IQ, the always smiling OBI, the goofy Mitch, the intense JHart, and the Sleepy RJ! Reminds me of my 19 year old Nephew. Good kid, smart but just mumbles and alway "tired"........RJ looks like he a kid needing more sleep!

The issue is that outside of wemby, nobody in this draft is worth the risk. I wouldn't even trade IQ for Henderson.

Bro you are! And all respect. I got tired of the non answers to the double standards and now I pick and choose my battles. But you are not alone. I agree with just about everything you say in respect to RJ.
