I have been saying this ALL YEAR

This is all coaching. And I know it's not fair to compare Thibs to Spoelstra. I mean there is no comparison. Spoelstra is the best coach in the entire league and give him three days to prepare and he will dissect your team and that's exactly what happened. Miami has done this to a lot of teams and that is why they have been an elite team for the most of the last two decades. We started this game with little to no intensity or sense of urgency and that was surprising. I did not expect us to walk out like zombies to start and get down big early. Considering how poised and well this team played in Cleveland. Chalk it to inexperience I guess. But the lack of shooting and scoring just sucked the life out of the entire team. And this poor shooting is not a fluke! We haven't shot well the entire season. Games like game two are the fluke where we uncharacteristically shoot decent from three. That is not going to happen 90% of the time! This is why I think going up against this Miami team might have been the worst opponent for us. They are just too experienced and shoot the ball so much better that it's hard to compete.
Even tougher when your top two players play and shoot like crap. Randle especially was annoying in this game. Typical sleep walking Randle game where he plays as if he's a rookie and has no awareness defensively. Brunson did not look himself either. Looks a step slow like he did in game two so the time off didn't really do much. Went 0/5 from three which is killer.
And the lack of bench production, which was one of the biggest strengths the entire season, has been another killer. One of the worst things that happened was Grimes getting hurt. It sent Hart to that starting lineup and he's better suited off the bench on this team. It provides better balance and spacing. Having RJ and Hart together doesn't work against Miami. But I don't see Thibs changing this now.
Sucks to see IQ get injured. That looked bad and I would be surprised if he's back this season. Hopefully his poor playoffs are growing pains and he'll learn and get better from it. That's basically where I am with the entire team. Just go down fighting and learn from it for the future. Going forward, yeah we're down 2-1 but it's hard to see us beating that team three more times in 4 games. At least we didn't get swept! And I just don't want the season to end in game five at MSG.
If we win the next one it becomes 2 out of three on our home court
Man I feel dirty watching that game
The game got away from FOrte et al and they knew it. Scott FOster is the only ref so far who is willing to blow the whistle and call a game consistently
There were several times during the game where one coach or the other was yelling at a ref and the ref looked like a deer in the headlights
I’m not saying they were biased. Just horrible. Miami wants to put a lot of pressure on the refs and try and make a scrum out of it because that favors their strengths and scrappiness.
I find it crazy that the NBA will formally apologize to Lebron for not calling a foul on a play where he traveled but they’ll let a shit show like this happen and won’t say a word about it
Out coached, out played, out starred and out classed all in 1 game —- pretty disgusting how easily Heat are carving us up offensively as we run a round seemingly with no idea.
Mitch - were u at? JuJu were u at? Thibs where u at?
RJ -32 +/- in 27 mins - what?
Julius walking around - not even in a defensive stance most of the game but never acknowledged.
Philc1 wrote:MaTT4281 wrote:Why is Randle shooting techs?
Because Thibs is OLD SCHOOL!!!!!!
Disgusting this goes on and on with better shooters on court.
VDesai wrote:Barrett is -32
I may be off here but Heat seem to be carving us up on perimeter with legit solid screens (Bam, Love, Zeller) with legit (un-afraid) role players bang down shots.
We have Hart trying to set screens but Mitch playing Harry Houdini all over.
Not sure how RJ got that -32 ——- not getting over screens or just overall awful chemistry.l

At least he’s hitting something

What is it if we lose next one?
I'm glad I have learned from sports losses over my life. Now I can enjoy victories and losses don't sting. But I do hope they win this series
My next question is was Thibs really good vs the Cavs or was it because the Cavs coach is that bad. We are doing the same things that we did from the Cavs but Spo has already countered it and we have nothing left.

Agree with your take. I thought RJ was aggressive, just not very efficient. There was one point in the second half where Randle got hit in the face under the rim. Both teams sprinting down the court. Randle is walking back. I'm waiting for him to appear from the right of the screen. Eventually he pops up, still walking.
I wrote earlier in the season about comparing players to Knick greats with few playoff wins under their belt. This applies to Randle more than anyone. He was laughing on the floor during that scrum. I doubt Thibs was happy about that. Not sure why he got so many minutes. Obi wasnt any better, but at least his head was in the game.
Brunson is one tough player, but I'd rather see him do a better job of trying to get his teammates going, instead of all the one on five. Recognize when that tactic isnt producing results.
Thibs still playing a tight rotation, and they're paying for it.

Knicks will not win BUT rather LOSE with Referees being part of that in series
NY need to be tougher on 2nd chance possessions, also going to the basket to get HEAT fools into Foul trouble.
They keep settling for 3's point shots THEY aint hitting 3's nor 2 pt jumpers
Its not like NYK Defense is stopping anyone on heat.
Been a fan since early 70's but this is the first time I shut the tv off. It pretty obvious that our players are trash compared to other playoff teams...not just the Heat. Can't shoot, have terrible one on one skills, and below average mental toughness. We have to stop kidding ourselves this team has to get blown up BUT before we do that it is time to clean house in the front office...they are responsible for putting together this train wreck!
In a game like this, when EVERYONE else is off, went does iHart have ZERO shot attempts?
Would it ducking kill them to run a pick and roll with iHart?
You're getting killed out there with ISOs and 3's. For God's sake, try something different! WTF?

Thibs is Thibs. Does no good complaining at this point in the game.

Do the players have anything to do with the outcome of games?
Seems like it’s more just a chess match between coaches for you? coach just move players around board better and voila, team should win?
Can’t win if this happens

We need Grimes to show up Maybe even give Fournier some burn. This isn't coaching genius from Spo. He's just daring us to make shots.

It's more like we WILL lose next one if we continue to shoot like this. At that point it's pretty much a wrap

We watched him all year. He hustles and plays hard. Despite second ankle sprain.
But you talking walking? Peddle some other Randle scapegoatism.
Team shot 20% on 40 threes.
Big three shot 16 for 51.
Randle sucked.
RJ sucked.
JB was not good.
Obi as usual was a non factor and was abused on defense when in there. As was the rest of the team.
Total team dud and loss.
Hopefully they take the next one and get back home court.
