Why even double this? Why double Bam at all. He will never score enough to beat us alone. Giving up open 3's is a staple of Thibs defense. We got lucky that they were missing last night. You think that will happen 2 more times?
technomaster@ 5/11/2023 10:52 AM
We're now at 3-2 in this series. We're now in exactly the boat that the Celtics, Suns, and Warriors are in. It doesn't matter whether we started out 1-3, or 2-2, or 3-1. Let's forget about that psychological piece.
The team just needs to go on a 2-game winning streak. We've done it before.
Other thoughts: * @Clean - I appreciate the RJ on Lowry clip. I think the players on our team have been treated to a master class how to make winning plays in the playoffs, and the Heat are our teachers. Our 22 year old RJ Barrett is growing before our very eyes. * Yesterday was also a big growth moment for Grimes. He learned he could be every bit as effective as Hart has been. No need to play a deferential role. * The Knicks really threw off the Heat this game. Sure the Heat made runs to make it close toward the end, but I think the key to victory is for the Knicks to force the Heat to make new adjustments defensively. And one way to do that is to change the distribution of minutes and catch them off-guard. I think if the Knicks gave Fournier some minutes, the Heat would be thoroughly unprepared on who to use to defend him - and it might result in a 10-15pt unplanned outburst from him. Or if the Knicks went with Julius at center for a stretch and played RJ/Hart at PF. Just get the Heat thinking about how to defend the decoy unit. Just get the defense thinking instead of just reacting.

Some laughed about wanting to start Grimes even though he had been shooting poorly. As you see here they still treat him as a shooter. We just have to get Hart geting back to how he used to play on the bench to really start doing damage.

They aren17;t that calculated. Stern hated the dolans and Silver became commissioner by being stern;s lackey. The refs are working for Vegas. We were actually favored by Vegas last night to win hence the game actually being called fairly
Miami is going to get away with any and everything in game 6

really? Bam has destroyed our centers, and before last night Mitch was buying every pump fake. He's a stud and he's killed us

The key to victory is under our control. We can win this series. Just went through all 5 game boxes, which largely confirmed my suspicions.
Not a big surprise in that most games whoever controls the boards wins the game. (game 1 being the exception, and the one thing i forgot) Game 3 Miami barely edged us and won game. Our wins we had a significant advantage. We generally are beating them on the boards and MUST continue to do so
Miami is launching a lot more 3s than us. They are not hitting these at a super rate. but then again they're not hitting 2's at a good rate and when you do the math for them launching 3s is a better option for them. Many of these 3s are coming on second and third attempts when they get offensive rebounds or scrap for loose balls. SO again if we rebound better the number of 3s they shoot will go down. If we control the boards better the number of 3s they shoot will go down
Our 3 point % has not been good. Miami has used a variety of tactics to take away the paint (so do we). We need to hit 3s at a better clip -- which will almost certainly open the paint some. I don't get the sense we need to take more to win; we just need to nail those open ones. I chalk some of that up to our relative inexperience in the playoffs. I'd like to think as this series gets longer we're more comfortable in the moment and hopefully this rectifies.
So continue to pound the boards. And hit our open shots at a better clip
Some of the Heat players are coming back to Earth, and some of our guys are waking up
ESOMKnicks@ 5/11/2023 1:53 PM
Our guys still need to find an extra reserve tank to step up the energy level. The Heat still look more active and faster in how they are swarming us. And we need much greater focus. We fumble and bumble way too much. It has been a problem all season, but in the playoffs this stuff kills. Understand that the Heat are excellent in disrupting the opponent's flow, but still. In the regular season, this type of carelessness could be compensated via stronger perseverance and effort, but in the playoffs all opponents have stepped up the effort, so the Knicks do not hold an edge in that department anymore.

Knicks definitely need to bench their lone All Star and All NBA player going into game 6. Good call.

they are 23 and 26. I mean if there's two guys you can play for 48 its those two. Quickly also. Hart, Randle, RJ, anyone else is gonna run out of gas for one reason or another.
Was it minute 47 that he popped up after smashing knees and picked Jimmy's pocket???

Lmao. Hit that next button on him being named all NBA.
The fever does not allow you to see that rational Knick fans have never touted his playoff production. Nor claimed he was a top elite number one. Just that haters like to ignore his production as a Knick, relative decent cost and that we have NO ONE available for comparable value that is better at the PF spot. , They just bring up hater shit like yeah but he is not averaging 30 plus in the playoffs and has not won us a chip. Right after he gets his second All Star and All NBA nod. And the Mcrib is not a Filet Mignon.
Don't worry bro, he will make several mistakes in the next game. Unlike any other player in the olayoffs. Just get the video recorder ready so you can play it on a loop on your TV.

So let me get this straight. You would rather give up open 3's to a team that was the best 3pt shooting team coming into this series rather than have Bam who is averaging 17ppg have a one on one with Mitch? This is a difference in defensive philosophy. Bam is not a scorer that will carry his team. Their 3pt shooters can carry their teams to victory. I mean they did it vs the Buck and have made us pay this series. Bam will not be getting 50 pt games. So you live with whatever he does. If Mitch keeps biting on pump fakes you tell him not to go for blocks and just make his shot hard through positioning and verticality. The Heat are not like us. They are very willing passers. You double and they will find the open man every time. The only person on the Heat who should ever get doubled is Butler if he is going off on us.
