Knicks · Celtics or Heat? (page 1)

Celtics meeting the Heat in ECF.
Who do you think wins?
Who do you hope wins?

Objectively, I still think Boston should take them, but maybe it's just Miami's magically year.

This is hard. its the Celtics for goodness sakes but I don’t hate them. They have not hurt us in a very long time.
Heat did but it did not hurt as bad. We were beaten pretty good. The better team won and while they lack the star power, and Lowrey looks like the little fat brother of Paul Pierce but he is the the old guy and thats cool. Jimmy Butler is a villain but is chill about it. There was not taunting. If not for Riley I could like them.
Marcus smart is annoying but he too has persevered over time and his influence is important.
In fact, all Four teams are remarkable. Love the new Caruso that is Reeves in Lakers and I root for the 38 year old Lebron to continue making history. I don’t ignore when an alltime great is doing his thing. He is not the same arrogant prick he was as a kid. To do what he does requires time and a work ethic that can’t be ignored because of the decision and seduced by riley. that hurt. The he left to go back to Cleveland was kind of cool. He delivered there. And that he wanted to play in LA is his right he has earned. He was there before AD got there. He had some bad seasons but not force his way out.
Kobe earned my respect by what he did on the court later in his career and the effort to maintain that level of play especially after a really bad injuey. Younger arrogant rapist kobe was not easy to like. Mature put his life and family back together was far easier. He evolved.
Lebron worst things was what? the decision? Empowering his influence on the teams he played for? Fix his hair line? Or Being a good dad? Building schools? Socially active? Staying married? Being really good for 20 years?
I Like Jokic and the Denver thing too.

Im all over the place. So I’ll just enjoy the drama of it.
Knicks did good. Im good.

A lot of words andI don’t have an answer for you Panos.

I can root for neither team. Maybe the Heat over the Celts because they're a newer franchise - I've hated them less, can respect Riley/Spo and hope they will be mowed down by the Western winner in the finals.

Celtics are a really good team. If they make it to the finals, and I think they likely will, they have a good shot at winning it all.

Celtics, they are deeper. Gonna be a tough series.

Maybe in a way heat win validates knicks just a bit? We were deeper too!!!
Does Herro return some point this series?
Crazy how skinny and anemic he looks in street clothes for a pro player.
The wrist/hand atrophy has to be way harder for a shooting hand than many other injuries.
Haslam never taks that hood off. Looks like Spiderman on the bench.

Celtics are the better team in my opinion. I thought that they struggled with traditional centers but they handled Embiid. I don't think Bam is hard to handle than Embiid. I think Butler is a bit tougher to manage than Harden, I think Butler can put Tatum and Brown on the bench with foul trouble. I don't think the Sixers had a player that could slow down Tatum, where Butler seems to be that guy. My head says the Celtics take this game and we see Lakers-Celtics in the finals again.

Definitely feel dirty about rooting for the Celtics, but I sort of like that team.

Tatum and Brown are not nearly as dislikable as Pierce/KG (low bar, but still). Love Smart - wish there was a way we could get him on the Knicks. Respect the hell out of Horford and what he continues to bring to that team...only player I semi-resent is Brogdan and that's only because he stole Quick's 6MOY. Really wish we could've made the ECF because Knicks/Celts have had a lot of FUN games over the last few years.

A piece of me is hoping Miami wins and it paves the way to a Jaylen Brown to NY deal, but the majority of my heart says f*** the Heat, hope they get swept!

Jaylen Brown is actually a good guy IRL and Tatum is the nba’s best two way player. But yeah F Boston

I respect both organizations - how they were built, how they are run, how they play. Heat are the underdogs so I'll say them I guess but don't care really. Would root for either against the Lakers.

Celtics in 6.

VDesai @ 5/16/2023 6:08 PM
If the Heat keep up their current level of play on defense they will win.
markvmc @ 5/17/2023 9:10 PM
Fuck both of 'em. But particularly fuck Boston and their stupid "Unfinished Business" shirts.

So, um... Heat then. I guess.

ramtour420 @ 5/17/2023 10:30 PM
I really don't give a flying fumble about that series. Screw the Celtics,I have no love for them. I hope they lose. And definitely screw the Heat, I really hope they get their asses handed to them, especially Bam. Him standing on Brunsons foot was disgusting. Don't like either franchise.
blkexec @ 5/17/2023 10:36 PM
Heat look good. Lowry looking young. I dont feel that bad now. If heat was getting blown out, I might feel some type of way. But they putting it on the Cs. They look legit. Beating the Bucks injected a boost in this team plus they have team and individual playoff experience. But again, 7 undrafted on this roster. Wow

Glad you see it as Knicks just losing but the opponent exacting its influence on them.
I don't know the full story on undrafted Starks and Mason and the exec responsible for them to the NBA/knicks but it carried to Heat and their culture. They have had three coaches since 1996. Riley, Stan Van Gundy who was 185-112, .605 winning %, and had the same % in playoffs!, Riles again when stepped in the Shaq/Wade win (might have been a dick move by him, but its his team), then Spolestra since 2008.

I have often cited the Chris Herron book "Blood in the garden" and he details the good and bad of the Riley Era. there is a lot more than just Dolan not able to give him an equity stake and have to understand he was also very insecure and paranoid about his image.
Aronson was smart to give him what he needed and there was no turning back. Riley really wants out of NY and likely he could not have functioned in the corp. set up that was Knicks.

Nalod would encourage fans to read this book as it really dives in to the era and sets some things straight.

Rooting for another team but the Knicks is a blasphemy I'm my book. Kinda like going out on a date while your wife is away in a hospital or on a long term business trip. But I am okay with rooting for good fun bball. So far, looks like both ongoing series will deliver it. My sympathies are with Denver, they have cool fun players and are the only team I have no negative feelings about, so will be content if they win the whole thing. Won't be happy about yet another Bos, Mia or Lal chip.

+1 , definitely Nuggets out of all of them.I too would fancy Jokic winning a chip. His game is just so pure, so basketball. A team that passes should win. Unless it's the Heat, they can suck it

Now that the Heat have secured home court advantage in the conference Finals, does that change the narrative that NY needs to make major changes?

So we should not try to get better. Mind blown
