I think he's being underrated though not sure how Thibs or front office would think about him.
I had already looked up trades for both Ayton/Shamet but my thinking was just Mitch/IQ/EF for those 2.
Ayton actually give us a viable 2 way center, Shamet can help with shooting and in theory we could sign a DiVincenzo to replace some of IQ ball handling.
Brunson/DiVincenzo/Deuce
Grimes/Shamet
RJ/Hart
Randle/Obi
Ayton/HartI still think that Mitchell Robinson is better for this team than Ayton. Every time they go head to head, Robinson takes his lunch.
I visited family in Phx twice the past few years and watched Mitch eat up Ayton physically both times. While Ayton is more well rounded and skilled - he is super soft and I really think he is a worse fit around Randle due to him needing his own spacing and touches.
IMO, we need more of a Raef Lafrenz type of center... or in a different universe - a healthy KP that didn't already burn his bridges here.

Not sure how much of this is head to head but Ayton vs Knicks in 10 games avg. 15/11/2 assists/1 block. Mitch in 7 games 9/9 and 2 blocks. Ayton is younger and avg 17/10/2 assists/1 block while shooting 60% Fg / 76% ft on actual real shots / not dunks. The ft % alone is big.
As for extra cost for Ayton - there is a reason he got that money and if you are moving EF/IQ with new contract + Mitch we are offsetting the extra cost of Ayton/Shamet.
I just think Ayton is being undervalued and Brunson could really work well with him.
Thibs would either murder Ayton or quit very quickly

Evan Fournier, New York KnicksAs the New York Knicks continue to make plans for their upcoming offseason, the future of Evan Fournier continues to be an area of interest.
According to an Eastern Conference Executive, who spoke with Heavy on Sports’ Sean Deveney, Fournier could garner interest from the San Antonio Spurs as they look to find a mentor for incoming rookie Victor Wembanyama.
“There has been some interest from San Antonio to make a deal; they would give up almost nothing to the Knicks, so you get Fournier there to kind of mentor (Victor) Wembanyama,” The Executive said. “San Antonio could take him into cap space, which would free up some more wiggle room for the Knicks.”
Fournier has struggled for playing time under Tom Thibodeau this season, seeing the court on 27 occasions and not making a single appearance during the Knicks’ run to the second round of the NBA Playoffs.Evan Fournier Expects to be Traded by Knicks
Following the Knicks’ elimination from the playoffs at the hands of the Miami Heat, Fournier spoke with Brain Lewis of the New York Post, where the topic of his future came up.
“There’s no way they’re going to keep me. I would be very surprised if they did,” Fournier said. “So we’ll see. It’s obviously not in my hands…My season has been over for a very long time, actually. This officially is the end, but my season was over a long time ago.”Fournier joined the New York Knicks in the summer of 2021, signing a four-year deal worth $54 million, but has failed to produce at the level many expected him to. As such, the Knicks are likely willing to move on from the guard during the post-season, assuming there is a fair return for his services.
It’s also worth noting that Fournier has a team option in the final year of his contract. As such, if the Knicks fail to trade him within the next 12 months, they can decline the option, and he will become an unrestricted free agent in the 2024 offseason.
The Knicks Tried to Trade Evan Fournier
According to Yahoo Sports, the Knicks attempted to trade Fournier around the February 9 trade deadline as they attempt to land Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt from the Utah Jazz.“The Knicks were another team that called about Beasley, sources said, attempting to land Beasley and [Jarred] Vanderbilt in a deal that would have sent out Evan Fournier,” Fischer wrote. “New York also eyed Beasley in 2020, when he was a restricted free agent, and that was before Gersson Rosas, then the Minnesota Timberwolves president who awarded Beasley a four-year, $60 million contract, joined the Knicks as a senior basketball adviser.”
Now, Knicks fans will be waiting to see what happens next with a guard that they believed could unlock their offense upon his arrival but failed to crack the team’s rotation for any meaningful amount of time.
It should also be noted that Fournier joined the Knicks around the same time as Kemba Walker. As such, both additions will likely be deemed bad business and consigned to the history books in the near future – assuming the front office can find a buyer for Fournier.
Not sure if Heavy.com sports is super reliable but a Frenchman to help a Frenchman makes sense.

This makes sense for San Antonio, especially since I doubt they will fill their entire available cap space with upcoming free agents. Seems like a way for the Knicks to unload Fournier without giving up anything real. The only alternative would be Fournier’s contract being needed in a major trade. Still, my guess is Barrett would be used for that.

I have read that Timmy Duncan will be working with him.
Tony Parker can’t be too far removed.
Its good to see perhaps EF as a dump could go somewhere.
While his value to us diminished on the court I do wonder if he could still be a rotational player for a decent team.
At worst he sticks until trade deadline and we buy him out. 18mm seems steep for “mentor”. Do we even know if EF is that kind of personality? All we know he is french.

Wait what
New York Knicks Receive: G/F Buddy Hield, G T.J. McConnell, 2025 First-Round Pick (IND)
Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F RJ Barrett

I'd say no to this deal. We have too many guards already. I know Hield is a shooter the Knicks can use, but not at the expense of getting smaller and even worse defensively at the three.

Trading Barrett for spare parts makes no sense (I don't want to trade Barrett in any case, but hypothetically speaking). Knicks are already a deep team. they need to consolidate to level up, not get more spare parts

I agree. This trade is essentially the same as trading Barrett for Fournier. Prove me wrong. Hield and Fournier play near identical styles. He's a guy that puts up fake numbers. A 3 point shooter that doesn't really spread the floor cause he crowds the ball. Indiana is right to get rid of Hield but he is more of a salary dump in his final year of contract than a functional player.
Barrett bulked up last offseason. I want to see what he does with conditioning this offseason. Put on the weight last season, now learn how to use it this season. He needs to work on his handle as well. But I think with a big offseason, he could have a big season. No need to rush to be rid of him for spare parts.

Makes sense but what is the trade? Not giving up Obi for peanuts but doubt he gets the 7th pick either.

7th pick? Knicks would probably be happy with a mid 20s pick for Obi

Would need more back. Hal and Mathurin would be off the table, I assume. Turner does do it for me. Who else could Indiana throw in? Nwora? Hield? Nothing on that roster gets me excited.
