Knicks · Leave the Knicks intact.. (page 1)

People are so quick to dismantle our team but look at what the Miami Heat are doing. Heat are a team that did not change much from last season and Herro has been out.

Our team had injuries or coming off injuries and we still made it to 6 games in the 2nd round of playoffs.

Re-sign Hart and run it back.. with a trade mid-season using Fornier expiring contract.

Give more burn to young improving players already on the team.

The Knicks need to have a working system in place. Riding the 6-2 Brunson like he is the 7-0 Ewing does not a winnding system make. I still see too much reliance on individual players' ability to create for themselves, while, away from Brunson, we are lacking such players.
Miami clearly has a system, their offensive sets against Boston look exactly like the ones against us, except we actually counteracted them better.

Hart and RJ are the key. If RJ and Hart can elevate their 3 pt shooting to above league average that opens the offense. Hart time after time passed up open 3 and that hurt the offense. This offseason he and RJ have to work their asses off with shooting coaches and improve. That will improve their driving and mid range as well. Then Randall and Brunson can pass it more freely to them and also Grimes won't always be getting a hurried last second 3 to rush.

Heat had second most minutes/games lost due to injury this past season.
Drafting Bam at 13th and Herro at 14th, and of course getting Jimmy was fortuitous.
WHile Randle drives us crazy he is quite a bargain and that production is not easy to just trade back.
We reacting like the team failed.

I do think we need to add something more. Some of that More can come from internal growth.

But, are we going to count on RJ starting the year off like what we got in the play offs, after he found his legs?

I don’t know- we’ve seen that play out- RJ starts slow, finishes strong.

He needs to be consistent. He has to be able to knock down an open 3.

If I am the FO, I ask RJ to work on his shot, and if he can’t knock down 6 of 10 wide open 3’s during training camp, I am all for trading him.

I'm fine with running it back if there are no reasonable and fair upgrades available but at the very least I'd like to have an elite three point shooter on the bench like Seth Curry.

I’m sure Fournier could have hit some threes for the Knicks.

This team needs reps and continuity and health and some additional players: depth
Caseloads @ 5/23/2023 9:16 AM
And centers who can shoot

Another thing Fournier and Curry have in common? They both suck at defense. Thibs probably still wouldn't give time to Curry over IQ. But this is where we could make better use of the G-League. We should be developing our own Max Strus and Uncan Robinson's

seth got limited burn in the playoffs. that's why those players are "3 and D" - seth is no "D"

he didn't during the regular season. he flat out sucked this year, when given limited burn

exactly. must defend. thibs is right. and our offense was solid all year. our players whithered in the playoffs except brunson. Need more growth and reps

We need to look for big guards who can put it on the floor. we have undersized guys. we need 6-7 guards

A “healthy” Paul George would work and Mikail Bridges would be ideal (too bad we passed on drafting him for Knox.. ughh

Haliburton too but we chose Obi over him.

So frustrating…

Grimes and IQ and McBride.... come on down!

exactly Martin. you are right

I look at Butler vs. Randle, and I see the difference between the second round, and the Finals.

If Randle isn't as crucial to the team's playoff dreams. Because we found a player who thrives under pressure. Who can be that number one option. In crunch time. In addition to Brunson. That's another story.

I believe RJ can be that guy in spots. But he still needs more time to be as money as Brunson is now. When the chips are down.

If the season is going to hinge again on Randle becoming a clutch player, after 10 years in the league. I believe we're setting ourselves up for a big letdown. We need another clutch performer.

Randle is not Butler. We go that.
RJ got a clutch gene. He is not there.
Fact is I this team is not ready to make the big jump. It might not be for few more years, might not be as currently constructed.
This shit is not easy. Took Toronto a huge boost and luck via Kawahi. Philly never go there and its not lookng good.
Boston been very very good, contending good for how many years now?
Sure we waited 50 years. Thats don't make it any less hard.
