He pulling a Vince and wants out?
He can't direct where he wants to go without a NTC, so Pels send him to the highest bidder that suits there needs.
the rumor mill will spin fast on this stuff.

Do I do him for Randle straight up? yeah. The fat fuck better get his shit good though.

I love people ragging on the 23 year old millionaire getting with models and porn stars. You guys are really great humans.

Where is the defense?

It left in the 90’s. Been trying to find it since.

Going to take some brass ones to pull the trigger on a trade

I’d like to think Leon’s contacts/sgents gets him access to real intel

Chandler wrote:Just to be clear, all of the questions being raised are also precisely why he is available

if he didn't have the injury issues he'd be completely untouchable. think of what was paid for Donovan and RUdy for example.

the sex stuff is as much an artifact of Twitter. Anyone ever hear about Wilt Chambelain? or Magic saying he slept with 5 women at once.

to me the issue is whether a change of context/coaching can get him playing consistently at his high level, or whether he's checked out (See Ben Simmons)

The biggest issue is his health. Which Pels have the best insight on.
He could have the biggest turnaround, health wise, or he can be our Lonzo Ball situation with higher price tag.

I would have laughed at someone suggesting it would take any of our guys and some picks for Zion a couple of years ago. Would have wanted the trade in a second. Now ..we may be left holding fools gold

Seeing how the Mets decided not to resign deGrom, who is now done for the season, makes me take health issues ver seriously. No matter how good the player is.

To be fair - they gave him a $200m contract in the midst of all these health concerns?

(I am firmly in the "Say NO to Zion" camp btw)

I watched every Duke game back in 2019. Zion is one of those rare players that can impose his will on a game. If he is available, you get him. He could be a franchise changing player if he gets some discipline and maturity.
Jimbo5 @ 6/16/2023 9:23 AM
Just saw the kfs podcast- wishing on a star, it seems like there are weird things happening in NO, Ingram didnt play for months with a stabbed toe, Zion didnt play 3 months i think with a pulled hamstring. Maybe bad Voodoo surrounding the team. As they said, the knicks have an established culture, chances are if the young guys(RJ, IQ, Grimes and even Jalen) is working hard in the gym Zion will probably join them in the gym instead of hitting the night clubs or restos.

Injury and character is a concern but maybe the culture can somehow keep him in check.

Maybe Zion can have a talk with eddy curry and Sweetney so he knows what not to do if he wants to continue playing in this league.

I agree. Absolutely some risk involved. Zion is worth it. Watching him light up in that clip upthread when asked about playing at MSG. Makes me confident that Zion would put in the work to stay there. Right now Zion is a big fish in a little pond, so to speak. NY is different.

Zion is a top 5 player when healthy. Short of winning a future draft, this is our very best shot at a player of this caliber. Who has yet to enter his prime.

I hope the FO at least makes a competitive offer.

Nalod @ 6/16/2023 10:08 AM
Is he really on the block or this just a media/fan fabrication to engage the fan?
Its ok really, its what we do here.
These are fun “what ifs”.
The clip of him dunking in pregame work out then looking very tentative after he landed was nuts. He looked fat, and looked like he hurt himself. I think then they shut him down for while after that.
Then he is ready to play but not “mentally ready”. Ok, but WTF? Nola has cred issues with its reports.
I too saw him in college and when he is on the court in the NBA, he is incredible.
As said many times, his body construction just is not like any pro player I have seen prior. Not even a young Wes Unseld carried that bulk. Im not saying Zion is “fat”. Im saying he looks like a football player and think legs are not like most pro players or even close.

Only he, his trainers and the team understand the fullness of his work ethic diet, and body fat. Im sure the team has fully looked at all aspects of him and his body far more than we have.

Im perplexed as is most of the basketball world at him and his situation. The sex stuff is noise and not breaking any laws or morality issues. Its embarrassing to him and reduces his marketability. Best thing for him is to pay the Porn star off and don’t be a dead beat dad and be in court. He is charasmatic and will be fine over time.
But he will be irrelevant if he cannot get on the court and stay on the court.

For some teams and situations, absolutely. But I disagree for us, with where this team stands today, that the risk is worth it. We have a very, very solid foundation. Even as I remain open to moving on from Randle, you know what you're going to get from him, even on his bad nights. He's going to be physical. He's going to rebound. And he's going to move the ball (even with the iso's factored in). The team and our identity revolves around that. If you're going to replace him, you need a sure thing.

I don't see us as very far from being a top team, but we have quite a way to fall if we take a chance on Zion and it doesn't work out - if he doesn't get on the court. We don't need a homerun swing right now.

The last big FA star NY signed was Amar'e. The reason we were able to sign him was due to his knees. He was uninsurable. So I do appreciate the downside of signing a player with a history of injuries.

I see this situation differently. Zion's injuries as far as I can tell arent the recurring variety. The kind that robs a player of their athleticism. There seems to be zero dropoff in what Zion is able to do on a court from his rookie season, when healthy.

Leon is a super agent, maybe the most connected team president in the league. The biggest deal he has made so far is for his Godson. Thats how hard it is to get a star to play under the bright lights of MSG.

I dont blame anyone for wanting to pass on Zion. Yes, its a swing for the fences, but worth it IMO.
