Spurs seems logical, but their FO has beef with the knicks over the morris signing
Where else could he be traded?
Package to gsw for kuminga and donte D would be my preference (we’d probably have to send back a pick/picks)
Although they did just ditch Poole to get kuminga more PT
Would we have to send out obi?
Could the kings or rockets use EF?
Wizards?
Some other under the cap team?
Jazz?
I mean you can trade EF and a FRP to San Antonio cap space but at this point…..what’s the point? He will expire and our cap situation wouldn’t be improved. Writing on the wall is he gets waived after the trade deadline unless he agrees to a buy out.
No team would trade for Fournier but he would be included in a big package deal that features everyone else in the trade.
He’ll probably be bought out at some point.
Leon did not fuck Spurs over Mook.
that was Mills and perhaps Perry. They are gone. If pettiness persists its dumb.
If Lavine is being kept from Knicks because of CAA, that is dumb also. If Lavine benefits from a trade to Knicks, as does Bulls, Paul is not stupid to hurt his client and another team for pettiness.
If so, its dumb.
Poole is a SG. Kuminga is big wing. Not the same position.
Fournier has Feb deadline written on him. He's pure contact filler at this point, which we absolutely need if we're going to trade for anyone.
I don't expect to find a suitor this summer, and it's way to early to guess who will be made available midseason. It may be just to take on a pick and someone with an extra year on their contract.
This depends on the return. Leon will not be forced into adding a pick or adding another player just to dump EF. EF is not a locker room cancer like other disgruntled vets who’s riding the bench.
I’m sure teams rather wait it out and scoop him after a buy out or continue to ask Leon to pay for some of that 18mil and send them EF plus cash. Or some team will swoop in last min and meet Leon’s trade demands. Otherwise a buy out is the last resort. And the league already knows his resume.
Guess it will take GMs a few more years to realize Leon is not the typical NY GM /president from the past. Leon seems to be more calculated and patient with his moves and doesn’t seem to get rushed into something, unless it’s a sure fire thing like JB, who’s a monster clutch player (btw).
I just hope Leon doesnt over think this. Study too long can lead to stagnation. JB and Jules are in their prime. I don’t mind the patients but at some point he’s gotta forced it and take a chance on somebody, maybe it’s zion. Maybe Leon is delaying the resigning of hart and others to make sure we are in position to land PG or Zion for a Beal type trade where we still keep JB and Jules, along with some of our bench. Maybe Leon’s peeps leeked the deuce article to increase his trade value so that we don’t have to give up the farm.
So if I’m Leon I’m taking my time with EF until the right opportunity arrives. Because a buy out is always a better option than forcing a player into a culture that doesn’t fit.
San Antonio makes the most sense with wembanyama there. Fournier for McDermott saves us some money and gives 2 shooters a fresh start.
Dallas could use him, as could the Suns, Kings, etc
Toronto. With Picks. For OG.

If they can get a pick back for EF Rose is immediately pulling the trigger. 2024 is a team option so he’s basically an expiring contract now so maybe someone out there wants him
As much as I appreciate Thib's emphasis on defense I too still wish he were a little more flexible at times. While I get Fournier is not a very good defender we are now likely to take another loss on a trade when he could offer us some value as a reserve at times. Yes we need better defense but more then that we need outside shooting and it's literally the one thing he can still do - so why not spot minutes here and there and let him expire? If a trade opportunity presents itself I'll help him pack but if not - use him as a 10th man. I do understand team defense is only as strong as your weakest link but how does Miami get away with Herro and Robinson playing?
Miami put out Duncan Robinson who seems like a younger version of Fournier (great shooter, lousy defense) and we didn't use Fournier for even one minute - despite the fact that we couldn't score a bucket and clearly needed outside shooting and spacing. So while I don't personally care for Fournier - it's just a reminder that the FO keeps trying to add players in hopes Thibs will use them - but he simply won't if they don't fit his criteria (which is not a bad criteria btw) - just a tad too rigid IMO.
All hopes turn back to Grimes to really come along this sesason since neither RJ or Hart are consistent outside shooters.

KNicks had the 6th rated offense this past season.
WE don’t take a loss unless it actually happens, not because talk about it.
Best guess is he is cap fodder for a trade, but that remains to be seen. If we dump him and have to attach a pick, its to create cap space to sign someone? If so, its a net neutral?
EF does not move without the ball well like Duncan robinson does. His first 10-20 games in his first season it was known he frustrated Randle by his lack of timing. Did it get corrected?
EF is a pro and took his demotion like a man.
I like Evan. Doesn't he still hold the Knick single season record for 3pt made?
He can help a team out there - for us, he was one too many matador defenders- that has better defenders at other positions. I love JB, but he is a willing defender, but not the best.
He has value as an expiring and as a decent shooter.
We could have used him in the play offs - too bad he was too rusty.
If there isn't a good deal out there where he is part to fill salary (like a PG13) or in a S&T for a player like Donte DiVincenzo, then keep him and maybe he gets released/bought out or held on the bench in case of injury. He is better than any other undrafted/ G League player we would bring in if injuries occur to guys like Grimes.
Come on people. You are using Miami/ Duncan Robinson as an example of playing a benched player? The guy was on the bench for most of 2 seasons before they gave him time again - and they needed 2 SGs to get injured before he finally got himself run again.
To me best Fit is the Suns. Suns need shooters/spacers around their 3 alphas. I think EF/Robinson for Ayton makes sense.
keep him. If a star shakes free mid season or there's a deadline fire sale his expiring contract is a must have piece. A polished shooter on an expiring contract looking to remind people why he belongs in the league is a nice commodity. If we dont trade him we can be classy and buy him out (if that's his wish)

I tend to agree but Suns fired Monty who could not work with Ayton and......
They are not finding a value in the trade market for him. We don't know what they have turned down.
as for EF, Fishmike really speaks to what likely happens.
I believe knicks are letting his camp try to find a trade for him.

Good point. Maybe the suns, blazers or warriors get desperate to unload a veteran star next February and EF’s expiring contract plus an asset and a couple picks might be all it takes

Yes,
"Yuta Wantabe" patient in the event a player of substance becomes available!

Thing is Ayton wants more shots than Phoenix is willing to give him. From Phoenix's point of view they need to add guys who can roll with the big 3 for 2+ seasons Not sure if EF has any value as a player going forward. Few picks would likely need to be included to make it happen. Ayton was about equal to Robinson in on the court impact so the bigger question is fit.

Right.
On top of that, if you want to play guys like Rose and Fournier, state this out loud so we can clearly hear it from you: You don't want to play or develop the younger players and you are so focused on the one possible tactic switch just to win games despite the obvious fact that the Knicks are not contenders.
Some keep saying Thibs is a win only coach, what you are actually seeing is fans who are wins only focused.
Knicks are in a development process. Eat it up.
