Draft Taylor Hendricks and trade for John Collins. This will work out like Obi and Randle.

If Obi and Randle were stuck behind Lauri Markannen.

Haha yup

Atlanta just traded their nearly 26yo starting PF who averaged 20&10 a few years back but who was also coming off an off-year Randle like season for a second round pick and a 37yo bench player.

This is the new CBA looking at you.

Another solid move. They are definitely going to flip him for a better asset relatively soon.

Ainge is the guy that drafts 6 centers in his fantasy league assuming someone will have to overpay him for 1 eventually.

Yeah, this deal doesn't make sense for Utah on it's face. If it was easy to flip Collins for assets, Hawks would've done it years ago. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. When does Lauri's deal end?

Redistribution of wealth. Parity achieved.
Some teams are shedding talent due to costs.
Some don't have bloated contracts.
Guess who don't have bloated contracts?:
Knicks.

I don’t know what all the factors and dynamics are although I get clearing cap room - and I understand they aren’t the same player - but how much better is Rudy Gobert than John Collins? One they pay through the nose for, the other costs a song - not even a song with a bridge.

All I know is Atlanta got more for Cam than they did Collins, right?

They just traded away a better version of Obi

Surely Former Knick Landry Fields can recognize the talent that is Obi!

I am feeling old, seeing a player I watched play now in the FO role there with another team.

But - if Obi plays out, they could sign him for less than Collins or let him walk for nothing. They need production from someone at that position, and actually Obi might be a far better fit - not even getting into Salary considerations.

Trade Obi to a conference rival? How often does that happen in the NBA?

Usually they trade between conferences and if in conference not to a known rival. This is also what makes Indiana less likely but I guess if they want Duarte they could do it.

Washington could be a fit for Obi. Kuzma fits the timeline and has playoff experience. Doesn’t help our cap but would be a talent upgrade.

Collins is a good player, just that they have regretted the money they gave him and perhaps his personality factors in.
Read they were trying to move Dejuan also. Also has a “personality” that is a bit abrasive.
Maybe moving collins is enough. Dejuan is due an extension.
