Bronny had a heart attack on the court. Hope he is well.

Read that, surprised no one commented. Hope Bronny gets better soon. Has a lot on his plate.

Think he falls out of the draft ? Signs as a FA with LA.

Did Tatum and Brown become Pippen and Jordan ??

Their salaries dwarf the GDP of some small nations. There's no way a team can sustain a winning environment when those two are eating up that much cap.

When I was a kid the Yankees signed Dave Winfield to a 10 year 24 million dollar deal and the reaction was like yours. Just makes us see how much money is out here in the world and we are at each other's throat for a six figure job. These salaries just confront us with that.

True, but I'm just looking at this through the lense of the new CBA. The Celtics are starting off at the edge. Could they get lucky with draft picks and fill the roster up that way? Maybe, but their recent draft history would lead me to believe that it's not realistic. Is Jaylon Brown really that good?

Crazy stuff, and wow? When is Tatum up for his signing, after next season I believe?

MaTT4281 @ 7/26/2023 7:17 AM
Whelp, Jaylen officially off the wishlist.

As an aside...

First things first, has his heart experienced damage?
Cardiac arrest, that means blood stopped going to the brain and other organs.
What caused it?
ANy parent has to be terrified when you learn your 18 year old’s heart stopped!
At this point you pray he has a normal life, then figure out the cause and risks going forward.

Lance Stephenson not only plans to make an NBA comeback — he knows where he’d prefer to play.

“I think it is time for a New York team. I want to play for the Nets or the Knicks, either one would do,” Stephenson told the New York Post’s Tashara Jones.

I'm not sure either team at age 32 will take him though?

It's possible if the team loses a bunch of players through trade or injuries. But the last thing the roster needs now is another 6'4"-6'5ish wing. Especially one who is an erratic shooter.
MaTT4281 @ 7/26/2023 12:25 PM
Not sure we actually need anyone to come off the bench and blow in Bron's ear, given he's in the West now...but should the need arise, I bet Hart would do it!

Randle was just as good as Jaylen last year, the problem is Randle can't perform under pressure in the playoffs.

Like the playoffs he was injured so badly he needed immediate offseason surgery or the playoffs where he was surrounded by Old Man Taj, RJ, on-fumes DRose, Bullock and with bench of injured Noel, rookie Obi, rookie IQ, headed to Chinese league Payton, Burks?

i mean we can make excuses sure, but he's been historically bad in two postseasons now.

But aside from that, he also had a ton of meltdowns late in the year when teams started pestering him, like Smart in BOS. He just hasn't shown he can handle high pressure situations.

I think it's a fair observation that Randle struggles against pressure defense in general. It's why he feasts during the first 3 quarters and his 4th quarter stats drop off a cliff. I think it is also why he has struggled in the playoffs when every game has the intensity of a 4th quarter. I think that's a very real phenomenon with Randle.

That said, everyone sucks in the playoffs until they don't. RJ was going that route until he was able to turn it around mid way through the Cavs series and change his narrative as a playoff performer with it. I think Randle will eventually be able to level out his regular season and his post season play to where he is a guy who can carry a huge scoring/usage load but during crunch time his team looks elsewhere because he's too flimsy with the ball.

Those aren't excuses of anything, it's the exact circumstances he played.

Randle melts down all the time but I'm also not one to ignore reality and think it's a worthwhile observation

He wasn't injured against ATL and shot under 30% for the entire series. Not gonna blame his teammates for that.

And he wasn't good the first few games against CLE before he got hurt either.

I think it helps that Brunson can take some pressure off him but Randle has come up small just about any time the lights get really bright.

Sample size is incredibly small though. Don't think we can label someone a playoff choker after like 6 playoff games.

This is inventing a blindfold moment to meet your argument. Or did you conveniently forget that Randle missed the last 2 weeks of the season and no one knew if he was even able to play until hour before Game 1?

At this point you are kinda shooting yourself in the foot unnecessarily. And kinda embarrassingly too.

Randle is already not a good pressure situation player to begin with and doesn't really need anyone's help but to go above and beyond like you have is kinda telling.

DLeethal @ 7/26/2023 3:20 PM
Donovan Mitchell was a historically great playoff performer and his last 11 games were akin to Randle's playoff career. If you just looked at those 11 games then Donovan Mitchell would be a playoff no-show. You can't derive anything from a handful of playoff games.
