Knicks · Around the NBA, 2023 Free Agency: Let the madness begin! (page 26)

I fear desperation if the team isn’t as good next year. I see fans taking down to “play in” teams all the time. We could easily be the 7 seed. Last yr the Knicks missed 104 games due to injury (3rd least). The Heat 292 (2nd most). Standing pat isn’t terrible but I hope it doesn’t lead to a knee jerk reaction if they experience a little regression.

Looks like Randle just started rehabbing from the ankle surgery. Wasn’t long ago he was still in a boot. Now the workout video but we didn’t see any basketball related work. There’s what, 8 weeks or so until players report. Hard to say if Randle can get off to a good start to the season.

Don’t fear fan “Despertation”. FO rarely listens to fan fixes.
My take is teams go into seasons understanding its limitiations and that thru 82 games things change. Players improve, contingencies if they don’t are anticipated, and injuries happen. NFL teams rare think even if really good that they go undefeated. Not that they settle or are complacent, but just anticipate shit happens.

Really, its often said its far easier to go from 35 wins to 45, but to 55 is another story.
The Bing Bong mentality creates extreme highs and lows.

Fans can “think” and write things like they know things. Since we don’t have the working knowledge nor detailed reporting its always perception. Some of us get really carried away with thinking “We all that” and more. Like Randle had 5 bad playoff games two years ago and this last season was injured. Now some indict him as a playoff loser for all eternity and we will “Never ever” be better.
Children do shit like this. Those with knowledge can at least have contingent scenarios that produce outcomes and statistical probabilities to make it happen, and what are the costs to do it. Often good ideas just don’t execute. Then some do!

Fear only dolan regressing into starphuch mode to keep sales going. While things are taking longer than expected one can imagine in the era of this new CBA and even more parity teams can find a fast path to success, but also to decline. It would appear we are positioned nicely for many opportunities that might come about, but I cannot tell you how or when.

I was baby sitting my two young nephews yesterday Asking so many quesitions about when is dinner?” when are leaving the pool?, when is mom and dad coming hime, etc etc. They know the answers but emotions are whats driving the anxiety. Fans are like children. FO are running a business. We are the customers. We are emotional. Its entertainment.

Sorry to step on anyones toes.

who is that 6th seed you think can jump us?

Boston
Milwaukee
Miami
Philly (as currently constructed)
Clev
Knicks
Indy
Nets

Then there is the surprise teams:
Orlando
Bulls
Toronto

Knicks were a surprise. There is always a surprise team. Knicks will be good.

That would only happen if we really took a step back and missed the playoffs. With JB I can’t see that happening but yes we are probably a 6-8 seed right now

who is that 6th seed you think can jump us?

The Bulls, Pacers, Heat, snd Nets all finished behind us last year and all have the potential to finish in front of us if they get a little lucky and we get a little unlucky

So true. Yet, Philly, Cleveland, and Boston finished ahead of us but can easily finish behind us.

It's the new NBA. The new CBA will make it tough for teams to keep their cores and keep their role players. I think you'll see drastic swings in the standings and the end of GSW like standings. GMs will have to approach signings like NFL teams. NBA teams didn't get their hard cap, but what they did get will produce similar results.

I get it but that's not luck or a coincidence, we have a very young, durable team. MIA has an older, injury prone team.

We can finish anywhere from 1st to 10th really, MIA was the #1 seed 2 years ago with only 53 wins. If I had to pick the most realistic range it's probably 4-6th, but what we do in the playoffs is really whats going to matter.

I think it would take something major to happen for Boston to fall out of the top tier but overall I agree. I think this more reinforces my point then anything. Their are a lot of teams with little separation. I think the Knicks are better then the teams I listed but not so much better that I think they can be penciled in as a higher seed. The same is true for some teams that are thought to be a little in front of us. I don't want the seed to influence judgement when the margin is so tight. The 4 doesn't mean we are set and the 7 doesn't mean we have to do something.

This is an interesting take. The NFL is so different year to year. The NBA has never been anything like that in my lifetime

Let's relax on this stuff please. My father has a permanent brain injury from the Pfizer booster. Not anti-vax speculation, full diagnosis of limbic encephalitis caused by the covid vaccine. If you heard what the nurses told my family about what they see you guys might feel differently. It's prevalent whether you want to believe it is or not.

Sorry about this man. We all have different experiences.
Some of us lost people to Covid who did not vax, and perhaps as you experienced others affected by it. No two are the same but it was real either way.
When symptoms occur shortly after the immunization and in the absence of another identifiable cause its plausible to consider the Vaccine as the cause.
Just the same as if he was not vax'd, but contracted it while infected by covid19 it would have been considered a statistic due to virus? The science of medicine is imperfect and its why they call it "Practicing medicine". We are all biologically different and react as such.
IN any event so sorry you and family experienced. We rarely cut a personal nerve on such events but it happens.

Sorry for your family member and I wish everyone peace and healing. Every single vaccine and medical treatment can and does have a negative and adverse to someone. I know a woman who years ago had a severe reaction to the regular flu vaccine. The regular flu vaccine not COVID. Name the treatment, medication, and vaccine we will find negative side affect for a unfortunate number. I won't go further into the issue but I wish your father and your family the strength you all need.
