Right on the heels of Silver hardlining Dame and his agent for suggesting he wouldn't play or wouldn't play hard for a new team. Suspend him without pay - if it drags on, suspend for the year and grant Philly a disabled player exception?

Frankly should just void the contact Harden opted into, but I know that's got to be far more messy and slippery than I would imagine.

I don't think there exist a path to do this under the CBA. He is a no show, he is not paid. To void his contract there must be language that speaks to a "Breach'. If you void it he becomes a Free Agent. HE did not have to opt in so his actions speak to regret if he is no show with the intension of being set free. He could negotiate a $1 buy out? But Philly has a contract and extracts no value if he is granted to do this.
About time maybe NBA went for a breach but again, it give him Free agent status. Slippery slope.

OK, league does have some things in its CBA that will mess this up for Harden. its why we don't see holdouts I suppose.

Despite James Harden’s public holdout threat, the 76ers might have the leverage. A clause in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) reads that “a player who withholds playing services called for by a Player Contract for more than thirty (30) days after the start of the last Season [of his contract] … shall not be entitled to negotiate or sign a Player Contract with any other professional basketball team unless and until the Team for which the player last played expressly agreed otherwise.” – via Lev Akabas @ Sportico

Makes sense. This way player can't be rewarded for holding out even if for a year.

Seems kind of weird he made this comment in China given Morey's history. Harden must be a handful for his agent.

He looking a bit porky in this pictures. Full face and all. He posting on Twitter his trip to China.
When he wanted out of Houstan a few years ago, he looked out of shape then. 10 days later looked like 30 lbs slimmer with nets.
(Windhorst reminded this in this mornings cast.)

Simmons got away with it after getting the doctors to write him a diagnosis (no doubt there are actual mental health problems with the man...but I'm skeptical of the back problems that supposedly kept him out afterwards...).

The cynic in me says expect Harden to show up with some health problems his doctors and the Philly staff can't quite agree on...

Imagine a universe where Spencer Dinwiddie gets paid more than Jalen Brunson. 🤣

The Bitcoin thing got old quick.
Im down with digital currency and invest in the infrastructure of its future, but "Currency" as an investment not.
"Eligible" and what he really gets will be interesting.

He has one of his best seasons in a while last season from a health and shooting standpoint. But he's 29 and has already been through the ringer physically. You have to wonder if last season was a fluke. He's a legit starter and can fill in at either guard spot. I'm thinking an Evan Fournier type deal.

Thats what he has been playing on. Set to make about $18.5mil. Nets have to decide also if extended is he a good trade asset also if they are moving on from him. This is a team that is not poised for anything great but they rebooted longer term and did ok given the circumstances. Many were critical they would be screwed for years. Not sure its nearly that dire. They are at best mid pack. Who and what becomes of Ben Simmons becomes a big story if he returns to form. If not, he slips back into irrelevance where he been for over a year. Im not Net fan, but sure as hell more interesting to beat them if they are good than if they are cellar dweller.

They have Dinwiddie one more year. No surprised if they let him to UFA. Not sure what the extension discount (security for player!!) is but he need to have a good year and be healthy if he wants to "bet on himself". If so, he earns it.

I hate Harden probably more than anyone but have to give him credit on forcing his hand to go where he wants.

I would put a bet on him to win Ben Simmon's ROY this season. Wemby is a great prospect but based on the tiny bit I have seen offense will take some time.

THe Ujiri Myth.

He did the Melo trade. Melo told him he was leaving. Did him a favor. When Walsh played hardball, Dolan jumped in.
Both teams got what they wanted.
In Toronto the team had floundered in the playoffs. He made a bold ass move to get Leonard and it payed off.
Kawai left. If they don’t win does he get burned for that? He mostly inherited that team.

To some extent the Raptors are in a pickle. Losing FVV had to sting and he has Siakim and OG to expire after this year. It too early to tell but is he living up to his reputation? Shit happens. Even to him???
This man was lauded as top of the food chain. Did the media and fans build him up?

Time will tell. Massai is solid, that I won’t dispute. He comes with a big cred.

I think there is probably a little luck in every great story of success. Philly was one Kawhi turnaround jumper from being in ECF's? Or Massai was one missed turnaround jumper from having a lackluster season that precipitated a big trade.

Do the Nets have any bad contracts other than Simmons? I don't think it's "dire" at all. They are loaded with defending wings that can shoot and have a very good defensive center who is on the upswing. They don't have great play-making off the bounce which makes Spencer more important to the current team than he should be. I don't know what they do with him long term. he is a good player but one that gets hurt a lot and maybe one that sometimes needs the ball more than you would like for his ability. Right now he is important to them. Ideally, they could get to a place where he is more supplemental than integral if they keep him

I disagree. I don't think he is solid. I think he made his name off KL. They also made some magic happen by drafting Pascel and finding Fred. If that was under his watch he gets credit for it but I think in terms of team building he's been bad. The Raptors just don't make sense as a team. They keep adding the same player type. Even this off-season they got Jaden McDaniels for next to nothing. I like him and think it is a good deal but he a long switchable wing who can't shoot and is weak on the ball. This describes the whole team LOL

He came to Toronto for the 2013-14 season.
Look at their record:https://www.basketball-reference.com/tea...
Its solid.
Playoffs? Because a team does well in the regular season they are deemed "Under achievers". They had their share of disappointments. Two of the 4 years they got bounced they lost to Lebron and the Cavs.
Its solid.
He did the trade that took them over the top.
Its solid.
He Was exec of the year in Den. Solid
Basically he put them in a good situation and built the foundation for others that came after him.
Solid.

My point is the run prior to the chip was 5 of 6 years first in their division.
Made playoffs 8 of 10 seasons. Went from 34 wins to 48 his first year there.

My point was he is over rated a bit given his name comes up for any opening and when his contract was up he was given a massive deal.
He is in exec starphuch status.
That is debatable, but not "Solid"? His current team is a bit disorganized and redundant but not all teams win every year.
I don't know what constitutes a HOF exec career but he can't be too far off track.
