Is there any issue with them stating their desire to extend him on August 9?

eh, they are technically not supposed to talk about that but we already know the Knicks DO NOT TAMPER! Unless it's for low level 2nd round picks

I think this is a sign that DiVincenzo is going to the Knicks with them able to use the MLE on him. Villanova connection.

I like Hart but $80M seems like a lot for a bench role player. Hoping this doesn't mean we chose Hart over IQ or RJ.
MaddogSharp @ 6/30/2023 10:24 AM
Great news. Yes this sounds like they are working on a bigger extension but it’s good to see him opt in showing that he wants to be here
Panos @ 6/30/2023 10:35 AM
Yet another move this FO has orchestrated that shows they actually THINK about ways to make things work for the team. Unlike prior FOs that tripped over themselves to make terrible deals hamstringing the flexibility of the team.
Also, it's a two way street. Since the FO has displayed competence, the players are willing to be flexible to allow the team to make other moves to strengthen the roster.
Feels weird, don't it?

Yessir. As good as done IMO but definitely no tampering so that's why Bruce Brown's name keeps popping up

Underrated benefit of adding Donte could be our play against zone defenses- he’s a big guard who could play perimeter & at foul line against zone - he can shoot and most importantly he’s smart - outstanding passer.

Think he had 24 games with +5 assists or more last year (26 mpg and 3.5 assts) —- IQ as a compare as a PG had 20 (29 mpg and 3.4 assts).

It's just a huge win for the culture. You can see down in Philly that Harden wants out because Morey promised him a big deal last summer to get Harden to opt out and sign at a lower deal to make room for Trez and PJ. Now Morey is balking on the deal (after a 10 year relationship) and Harden's response is get me out of here.

Josh is showing a lot of trust in the organization and that will continue to pay dividends as long as they are honest.

Awesome. Feel like this type of guy is going to be a mini revelation just like Brunson was last year. Gonna take a minute to warm to him then it's going to be all love.

An in game line up of DDV, Grimes, iHart, Randle spacing for Brunson and his flurry of dance moves is gonna be KILLA

The cap is set to explode. The last deal was for 25B over 10 years, the next one is supposed to be 75B. The current deal pays 2B a year or so. 2B/30/2 (revenue split) works out to 30M per team. So over the next 4 seasons, that number might climb by 60M, or about 200M per team. In that situation 20M would be equal to his 12m salary today.

I saw Harden is upset that they told him to opt out and test the market. They had to know there isn't any market for paying harden 40M except Houston who seems to be all in on overpaying the Toronto PG. That Houston would want Harden anywhere near the kids on that team seemed self destructive. This is got to be Hardens last payday. At some point teams have got to be like....wait a minute, you want how much for how many years..ROTFL

and Hart is a guy who's going to keep adding wrinkles in his game. When his shot isnt falling he played great D, gets to the rim and ends up having a 12 rebound game.

I am all for locking up IQ/Hart and running this thing back a few times.

Stay away from these 2nd tier stars who get paid like MVPs. We building a nice program here

SupremeCommander @ 6/30/2023 12:42 PM
I didn't like signing him to a $20 million contract, but now... I am quite okay with rewarding him so that we can add some talent
Nalod @ 6/30/2023 1:41 PM
Donte is not a done deal so lets not get to fancy yet.
They opened up space to get it done and the rumors are nice.
That crowds things up a bit but we all fancied a consolidation trade for excess talent and picks. IQ and Grimes will factor in. Perhaps deuce as well.
LIke to see Rokas in SL and see whats there. They getting a new coach in Barcelona, maybe time for a change? Who knows.
