Knicks · Donte DiVincenzo to the Knicks! 4 year for $50M (page 4)

BigDaddyG @ 7/2/2023 9:16 PM
I just compared Donte's season with Max Strus. Either Donte is underpaid or Max's agent is a genius.

Both!

Donte gets to play with his boys though!

Max also went to the finals and is bigger
Nalod @ 7/3/2023 8:35 AM
So what don’t we know?
Why did he sign for so little?
Is playing with his buds really worth 5-9mil a year?
Or one might look at his injury history instead of circle jerking and thinking this gets us Mykal Bridges!
Im not tempering the good thing we did, but there is a reason he played for less than 5mil last year and did not get a multi year deal.
I love the deal BTW. It gives him security and a 5 year career without having to bounce.

I don’t think tons of teams were lining up to have him as a 5th to 9th man

Let’s be honest. The RJ-haters are celebrating as if we signed Steph Curry is because they think adding another SG means we will soon be trading RJ

The guy is good at a lot of things but not great at anything but he was underpaid last year and probably is still slightly underpaid now. I think he could have held out for the full MLE or slightly more if he wanted. He took this deal to come play with Brunson and Hart.

You don’t really add much to the larger conversation, do you?

Perhaps just speak for yourself instead of some made up boogeyman

TPercy @ 7/3/2023 10:58 AM
I think Donte at the contract we are getting him for is fantastic value. I think the only concern that people have is how small our team is at the wing/F position but if we can make it work then I guess it’s not that bad.

My dream lineup with all these guys would probably be
Brunson
Grimes
Hart
Randle
Robinson

Quickley
Donte
Barrett
Hartenstein

martin @ 7/3/2023 12:31 PM
Jalen starting to see some breathing room, and both guys make great cuts from the perimeter

Eh, the size difference is negligible. 6'5" versus 6'4". Donte is definitely a better athlete. Miami "culture" FAs get a zenkai boost with their perceived value followed up with buyer's remorse.

Julius Randle shot 43% from TopRight on 122 attempts

Brunson shot 43% from TopLeft on 67 attempts.

They can put 43+% shooters around the entire 3 point line.

Kind of made for a 4-1 offensive set with a powerful center. Mitch better get to work on those post moves…

Powerful center who may know a lot about Cameroon?

I just love being wrong and this FO has earned my trust. I honestly thought we kinda overpaid for Brunson at the time because of our need and my god was that opinion utter trash. I did think he was a good player.

Look I really like our IQ/Grimes/RJ young core, but I also think healthy competiton is positive. I also think high IQ 2 way guards who hit 3s and do other things are like pitchers who throw 98.... When do you have enough? Never really.

I like the team and these contracts for Brunson, Mitch, RJ and Randle and hell even DD are aging like fine wine. I hope we lock up Grimes and IQ and just roll with these guys.

VDesai @ 7/3/2023 2:58 PM
Its a really good signing. Its all a bit fit at identity. DDV is a Knick the way Hart was a Knick, and that matters a lot. He is playing the style of basketball we want to play and Thibs will trust his skillset.
ccch @ 7/5/2023 7:19 PM
I like it...finally going after a shooter. We need more shooters...not streak shooters!

I think there is more of a chance they trade Quickley after this move.

no way... I bet his extension gets done especially if he's willing to take 5/$100

Knicks have a nice identity. A little small outside but we that's the team. Its 3-4 guard sets with Randle and a rim protector. Thing is all the guards are two way guys who do a lot.

We are
Brunson/IQ
Grimes/DD
RJ/Hart
Randle
Mitch/IHart

Josh is the perfect guy to slide into Obi's minutes. He literally does everything we wanted Obi to do and everything Obi did do

We are tough at the rim and our guards rebound, play D and come after you on both ends.

Sims/McBride/Fournier are you 10-12. If we dont have a deadline deal for Evan we cut him for being a good soldier

GustavBahler @ 7/7/2023 12:10 AM
Almost every past regime this century had a theme, a connection "Utah" "Chicago" "Triangle" now "Villanova". Hope it works. It wont if this is the biggest move the FO makes this offseason.
