Looks like they need to trade at least one of their players, right? Probably Kevin Porter Jr.
They have Jalen Green and Amen Thompson.
It could be that in the last week they realized they drafted the wrong twin… or shouldn’t have drafted either of them.
I think the team direly needed some veteran presence, and FVV is a pretty legit floor general.
I have no issue with him getting a $40m deal.
And hypothetically Brooks brings similar value as Fournier on paper. I reckon he’s supposed to teach the team how to play with a high motor?
Brooks is the "Tossed Salad Man".
They going to get them "Scared Straight".
Yoot needs some vet presence.
Maybe even worse
Houston has the best young players in summer league
They have players who can be nba stars
Why put so much into
Dillon brooks???????????????
I don’t love his gane or character

They could’ve traded for Evan Fournier to reach the salary floor. He’s a good vet and his contract is closer to end.
rockets with an embarrassment of riches. wonder if they can make the playin this year

I thought brooks would have trouble finding a min contract
FFV is a team option in year 2 so basically a 1 for $40M where you hope he comes in and sets a foundation of playing the right way and with effort. Brooks is similar in terms of they want to show all the young guys how they need to compete defensively- issue with Brooks is he shoots too much but Udoka may rein that in.

I think year 3 option.

they took two expensive cracks at finding the next Jalen Brunson (with older players at 2x the price)

I mean, you would rather have Fournier at 19m than D-Bag Brooks at 22m? They are going to struggle to hit the salary floors for the next several years as it increases with the players they have on Rookie scale contracts.
FVV/Kevin Porter Jr
Jalen Green/Amen Thompson
Dillon Brooks/Cam Whitmore
Jabari Smith/Tari Eason
Alperun Sengun.
I mean, I would give an arm and a leg to have Thompson, Whitmore and Eason as three players off the bench.
