60 mm per for Dillon brooks and FVF
I thought brooks would have trouble finding a min contract
A team desperate for an identity. I agree though, it’s not money well spent.

They overpaid and foolishly bid against themselves
Its insane.
They also already have Porter Jr, Amen Thompson and Jalen Green to man G spots & Wings.
FVV I could understand for his leadership and Thompson can come off the bench as a rookie. But why commit 4 YEARS and 80mil to Brooks when nobody would come close to offering that amount and years. And his role probably won't even warrant it.
They are gonna have give up assets to dump that contract when its time to extend that young talent under this CBA.
Max for brooks is 4 years, 50 to 60 million
Rockets line up
Fvv/kpj/mills/dj augustin
Jalen green/amen / Josh Christopher
Brooks / cam whitmore/ tari Eason
Jabari smith / Tari
Sengun/jock L/boban
Could get to the playin. Doubt get out of the playin tourney.
They will play hard.
The Brooks contract was the most surprising, so far, this off season.
The FVV is A LOT but if you look at the numbers, it was deserving.
Reminded me of when we wasted money on Lopez and Afflalo.
But it's a flaw in the CBA where a team has to hit a floor and have a certain amount of money committed. They were kind of forced to make these insane signings.

But the number of years??? 3 years with an option after year 2. Why not put in lots of options
Atleast we won’t have to see Brooks acting like an idiot in the playoffs.

Need to close our eyes all season long though
And I thought advanced stats hated RJ! Brooks was number one in minutes and number 11 in winshares, behind Kennard who played a quarter of the minutes. Maybe Houston wants to keep on tanking
part of the new cba is that teams must be at 90% of the salary floor by the start of the season so houston HAD to spend at least $50 mil this summer to meet that.

The weird part was they dealt a fair amount of guys like Garuba and Tyty to the Hawks to open up more space to give Dillon a deal when A no one else was giving him 4 years and B no one else was going to give him 20 million.
I think they could have at least made a play for Austin Reeves who took less than he should have because of his draft history. Just offer Reeves that same deal and see what happens, though he does have considerable Linsanity potential.
There's also the option of eating someone else's bad deals for draft picks. Clippers would have been motivated to give up Morris or Covington to keep Gordon.
This might be the results of the new rules that you have to have a certain percentage of the salary cap to get paid at the end of the season from the revenue share pool. So teams with a ton of cap space have to overspend to get paid.
I personally love what the rockets did
They have a bunch of young players that will get paid. AFTER FVV/Brooks come off the books. They need some toughness. The Yoots need to be shown what to do. Yes, they overpaid, but does anyone think players were lining up to come to Houston for Fair Market Value? Come on

3 year deal with team option after 2 is the new one year prove it deal in today’s nba where any scrub can get paid
The moves were fine in theory but they clearly paid too much for Brooks. I would have offered him just above the MLE (like $13 million a year). No one else in the league was going to offer more than MLE. Even if they really wanted to ensure they did not lose him, a $15-$17 million a year would have the absolute most they should have offered. Plus, they gave him 4 years??? Bad deal but I do like the players they picked up.
I’m with you Briggs. I think the Fred contract isn’t good but there’s a team option on 3rd year so it’s really a 2 year deal which isn’t terrible. The Dillion brooks contract is god awful. Brooks should be playing in a China but an incompetent organization just rewarded him for being a negative sum player. Terrible.
Like if the Knicks gave brooks that deal you wouldn’t hear the end of it. I’m so mad this bum is getting paid Lmao
Looks like they need to trade at least one of their players, right? Probably Kevin Porter Jr.
They have Jalen Green and Amen Thompson.
It could be that in the last week they realized they drafted the wrong twin… or shouldn’t have drafted either of them.
I think the team direly needed some veteran presence, and FVV is a pretty legit floor general.
I have no issue with him getting a $40m deal.
And hypothetically Brooks brings similar value as Fournier on paper. I reckon he’s supposed to teach the team how to play with a high motor?
