Looks like the FO is/was going after Lavine

Roby, McBride and Sims will serve as depth behind the main rotation. It should be a fun group that is good but not great. There’s no easy upgrade in any area of the rotation right now.

I think the Knicks are waiting out an opportunity for 1 of 3 guys; Paul George, OG Anunoby and Joel Embiid. OG and PG are the cleanest fit. PG would be acceptable if it’s Barrett, Fournier and the right pick compensation. For OG I could see Barrett and a filler like Jeffries along with picks for OG and Thad Young. Both PG and OG fit cleanly in place of Barrett because they are both better shooters and defenders, and can also provide backup PF minutes with the second unit. Just a really clean fit. Embiid is the pie in the sky that would require Barrett, Quickley, Mitch and a kings random of picks but would essentially open 2 rotation spots the Knicks would have to backfill. Deuce could replace some PG minutes, but Knicks would have to find another wing, unless Fournier re-enters the mix. Either way, at this point these are the only guys who make a lot of sense as it stands right now. LaVine makes less sense now with DiVincenzo here, and harden and Lillard aren’t the guys.

It just comes down to either OG or PG becoming available at a slightly lower cost than the current perceived price, or Embiid demanding a trade and the Knicks putting in all of their chips. I think there’s probably a 50% chance of one of these scenarios coming to fruition later this summer, otherwise we will ride the current rotation into the season.

Thad Young would be an incredibly good/sneaky add on. I don’t know if Thibs would do it but he was also excellent as a small ball 5 in Chicago

Not really. They have checked in but that’s it, more the due diligence side of things.

I just don't see the FO doing the overpay these clickbait trades would demand.

And yet there are fools who keep falling for the Click N Bait rope-a-dope. Repeat and rinse.

Knicks FO are not without flaws but by now we should be able to hone in on their MO, it’s pretty well documented at this point.

Agreed, rumored to check in on Towns, Dame, PG13, Lavine, apparently won't overpay and get locked into the older guys, I do love that approach.

Knicks a true threat to trade for Joel Embiid?

Sirius XM: Keith Pompey on Joel Embiid to Knicks possibilities: I would say the Knicks [as a potential Embiid landing spot]. Leon Rose used to be his agent, Joel already owns a house up in New York, he’s had it for a while. And the worst-kept secret is that the Knicks have been compiling and keeping a whole of their first-round draft picks hoping and praying that Embiid asks out. If you add Joel Embiid to that team, that team is going to be catapulted to one of the top teams in the East. And I could see that absolutely happening. – via Twitter SiriusXMNBA

If he has 10-12 players who play really hard for him every night — do you really care that the 1 guy he benches has issues with him? Seems to me that Thibs has the support of players that primarily matter to winning/ losing.

When he was with Boston, those guys loved him. Same in Chicago and NY. I have no idea about Minny but Jimmy loved him, right?

So where are all the guys who don't? They on min contracts

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with being a demanding coach if you get results and Thibs gets results. I heard Towns hated Thibs, but he also didn't like Butler, and has a rep as a semi-lazy player.

Per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News:

The issues with Thibodeau in Minnesota were more concerning, but they’re also not all his fault. Word is Thibodeau was fine with Andrew Wiggins but the problem was Karl-Anthony Towns, who is gaining a reputation of being a selfish player less concerned with winning. It’s not surprising that his personality didn’t mesh with the demanding Thibodeau.

KAT recently made some point about his team being better then GS because they played them hard without years being together. Man he seemed delusional. Hard pass

Good. If we are trading assets I’d much rather go after Mitchell. LaVine is so overrated

The clips wanted the entire roster for PG13. The guy is 33. Do they know Isiah is no longer the GM?

Stephen A. Smith is making a strong argument to bring Dame to MSG. I have to say his schtick has really grown on?me over the years. It's tough to discount his love of the Knicks. "Don't go to Brooklyn- it's just a borough." LOL

Omg this seems like it's akin to punching yourself in the balls, you know, until you like it

SAS is no Knicks fan. Guarantee you he couldn't even name every player on the roster. And he wanted Miami to make the Finals OVER "his Knicks" just a few month's ago. I personally cannot stand him.

I'm guessing Leon will talk when the Knicks go deep in the playoffs. Not used to answering questions from the media about the job he's doing. If he talked to the media at all it was about an athlete he represented.

Still, its NY, very loyal fan base, couldnt hurt to sit for an interview. Like every GM he's had his missteps. But more to be proud of at this point than regret. A mega-trade might get him out of the shadows.

I understand the plus side. Nothing really leaks from the FO unless it's intentional. But give us something, even if it's just WWW speaking in generalities. Knicks fans have been through some stuff. Throw us bone now and then.

In a city where the media seems like it is always trying to "zing" the Knicks, its not hard to side with Leon Rose on this. He clearly is doing a good job and I think there is a lot of uncertainty in where we stand, that he probably doesn't see the benefit of speaking about. The only group that benefits from him talking to the media is the media. There is no way the press turns that conversation into a feel good story.

I’d add in the entirety of the rest of the national media as well

For better or worse
