Randle is such a frustrating player. His turnovers are so killer and he’s not making much progress cleaning them up.

Disagree. If Grimes had kept starting, and probably still playing poorly. Then his confidence would likely be shot.
This is Grimes chance to put his money where his mouth is, with a second unit which will do a better job of getting Grimes more touches.
I'm also surprised that Grimes was benched so soon after his comments. But the behind the scenes stuff about his frustration, probably made it inevitable.
Grimes is admittedly not my favorite player. That out of the way, Grimes is tough and plays D and shoots well when on, but he has a lot of flaws. I have never seen so many people willing to change a whole system to "activate" at best a 4th option (when he out there with Mitch) or lower-Randle, Brunson, IQ, RJ all rank above him in the offensive pecking order and guys like DDV, Hart offer exactly what people are saying Grimes is capable of, but they can do it in the system without changing anyway.
He can be a Raja Bell (my favorite comp), DDV, high level 3 and D type player.
That said, still feel like he was out of line going to the media given his role on this team.
He better be able to back it up.

Didnt have a great first, but we're still in it. Hope Grimes gets to the FT line. That should help boost his confidence.
The DDV/ grimes swap seems more natural. DDV is more opportunistic and lower maintenance to fit the starting lineup. Grimes gets to play a little freer and can also spot up in the corner and let Hart work the middle of the floor more. It’s a good transition.

With Grimes foot speed and anticipation, I'd like to see him take more charges. Too many guys blowing by him lately.

He played like crap as a starter and Thibs stuck with him until he complained to the media, then Thibs benches Grimes-instead of running more plays for him as a starter- who then proceeds to play better than he has since the first round of last year's playoffs, and allows the team to play better because DDV is just as steady in the starting lineup as he was off the bench.
Now the question..........who did the right thing?

Exactly. It was too much too soon for Grimes as starter. He shooting improved but little else last season. Cant start a player who is allergic to the rim.
Knicks are playing well, especially on offense but this is like deja-vu with a great team shooting lights out and clicking on offense. Knicks can beat anyone except Boston and Milwaukee playing like this.
I also think with the starters you already know 100% of shots going to RJ, Brunson, Randle. With the bench, he's splitting with IQ.

Mitch a complete zero again - KP looks like Wilt with a 3 pointer and Mitch looks like he’s playing on hockey rink on D.
Celtics on pace for 148 and treating our D like Bucks did — hopefully something breaks and these tools start missing.
This may be a reach but anyone sensing Jalen is not pushing action as much as normal - could be D but hoping some of the bitching about shots/flow haven’t pissed him off.
D is 95% effort and last 6 quarters we getting absolutely cooked.
