iq/barnes fit should be great and hoping iq explodes like maxey.
detroit 2nd is #31 - guaranteed. the knicks other picks (like dallas and washington) will never convey so they don't have as much value imho.
this is an old school fair trade by 2 teams that want to re-balance their teams. really solid deal! nba needs more deals like this.
how did this trade happen with both teams in court?
Yo thanks! And Happy New Year!

One of the worst feelings as a fan is when players you like and become attached to get traded. Especially for players who aren't as good. OGA is the most overrated player in the league imo. An overrated role player who will ask and likely get All-Star level money. He's 3 years older than RJ too. Say what you want about RJ. I know he never lived up to the hype and expectation of being the 3rd overall pick but it wasn't due to lack of effort. RJ worked hard, was a great teammate, no drama and gave us some nice moments and helped change the culture. We get swept by the cHeat if it wasn't for RJ in that series. Same with IQ! Another player who is better than OGA imo. Was graded a D + when drafted and went on to develop into the best 6th man in the league. Another kid who was all basketball, hard working, improved every season and was getting better.
Achiuwa and Flynn are garbage. This makes us a playin level team unless there is a follow up trade quick.
Sad day.
OG is definitely not garbage.
However, always question a player who came from a so called well rostered team who just did not do much. OG was surrounded by really good players and they did nothing.
Also feel we have up a dog in IQ, who played well in this jungle we call NY for a guy who seems afraid of his own shadow despite talent.
Roster management played a part, I think. Those Toronto teams were oddly constructed. OG was a dog in the games I've seen, he's just not gifted scorer off the dribble. As for IQ... It's tough But this team had too many guards and I'm doubtful IQ was pleased with the situation. At least we got something for him.
Probably.
What is true, is that we would be in for over $50 million with IQ and RJ. A lot for a second round exit tram. But just liked IQs potential. Would have loved to see him inserted into starting SG and Deuce as backup in second unit. But we know Thibs likes his 9 man rotations.
Also thought you have to reward your home grown guys when they produce. IQ did.
Did not want to see RJ go just yet but his inconsistency made him hard to keep. Especially if you want to compete in next couple of years.
you actually think there was room for a 10th man? do you not see all these guys we had at or near career lows in MPG already?
If IQ started, then yes, you would need a backup PG. Ie. Deuce.
Mentioned how Thibs thinking would make this unlikely.
Placing IQ instead of Devo at SG would not have changed the problem of minutes.
We now have one less wing. Unless Flynn gets PT.
Question will be does Grimes or anyone else fill that important instant offense role in second unit.
Grimes and our 2 firsts this year alone is probably a solid offer for Lavine based on what I've read.
Brunson - Grimes - OG - Randle - Hart
Deuce - DDV - Hart - Precious - Taj

we're going to see 25mpg+ now from DDV and Grimes.
Now we have a more normal end of bench with guys that don't demand big minutes.

Deuce and Taj got that covered man!

I don't think we have enough salary to make a trade work for LaVine or Spida. Unless you add Randle but that wouldn't make any sense right now. The only guy that's been rumored and makes sense is Murray. Atlanta is having a poor season and they might want to reset the counter and rebuild. We can offer Grimes, Fournier's contract plus 3-5 picks. Murray would make a lot of sense and is a better fit with Brunson then Spida. I wouldn't want LaVine here for free with that knee!
Sorry. I f—-ing love this trade. I hate the headline on this and think folks should be welcoming OG with open arms.
1) Guy is a perennial All-NBA defense contender. He guards 4 positions. You basically took a mediocre defender and replaced it with a 7’2 wingspan above average efficiency shooter TS% .598
2) This is not the same situation as Toronto for OG. He basically can have some combination of IQ and Barrett’s shots straight up.
3) IQ and Barrett were likely to make 50mm combined next season. I have OG at 35mm. We will see if this is a net savings.
4) His 37% from 3 will result in more point per possession. Huge wingspan, can release much higher. Will spread the floor better than RJ.
I am gonna miss Quick. We may really regret moving him. For sure. But he deserves to start somewhere and I just don’t see us moving Brunson.
I think that Murray trade is coming soon too.
Raptors Reddit looks 95% happy about this trade.
They are stoked for IQ.
yea Murry makes more sense now. He would have really made IQ obsolete and we couldn't really add another inefficient scorer with RJ in the lineup.
but now those 2 issues are removed.

I'm in this kool aid drinking boat.

you're right, we could add Mitch though or even DDV or Jhart but that seems unlikely.
The boys need to fly to Indiana quick!
fuck it go get DJ for Grimes and a 1st.
maybe there is a path now for Rokas to come over next year now as well
