It's a title whose name will live on in infamy.

Classic Knicks fans overreaction but that’s what we roll with, cause that’s us

We gave up two players capable of 20pts a night. Including the 6th man of the year runner up, not in his prime yet.
Chemistrywise the trade is paying dividends already. OG is much more effective off the ball than RJ. Although we give up some scoring.
One of our "big three" had to go. But the price was steep. No getting around that. It really wont matter if we get that instant offense back that we lost with IQ. If the price is a bunch of picks instead of IQ and RJ, for that last piece.
The roster will show that we gave up IQ and RJ, a bunch of first rounders. And got back OG, and a 6th man who is good enough to get us to at least the ECF. But we arent there yet. This move only makes sense if we can get back the production we lost in the IQ trade. A player with his skillset.
Raps were looking for that kind of player for a long time.

I think we gave up “FGA” more than “PTs”.

Agree with most. Mainly that IQ could be next level and hates for him to go. However, my gripe ignored the possibility the Knicks may not have matched a hig offer. And we would have lost him anyway without anything in return.
Hopefully it continues like last night where Grimes and Deuce stepped up. Which I felt, would happen by moving IQ to SL and Grimes to second unit. Now with IQ gone and Grimes in second unit, maybe he continues to flourish and we miss IQ less.

Have to look at in from the perspective of OG going to be a $35MM a year guy. That’s a lot of money.
We’ve looked very solid the past for games. IHart has played like an Allstar.
I don’t think 22-25MM is a lot of for IQ. He’s going to average 20pts and be dynamic for a long time. Losing him is tough.
If Grimes plays the way he should and continues to be aggressive OG doesn’t have to be an offensive force.
But again, love the defense, but Brunson is going to from $25MM to $45-$50MM they need to hit on the draft picks this year. IHart is going to get interest from Spurs, Pistons etc.

IQ will get 25m+ as well, we would have been paying RJ & IQ around $55m combined so I get it.

I believe RJ is a very replaceable player. He is basically a mid efficient scorer. Those hit the NBA regularly. IQ on the other end is a rare gem similar to the rare gem OG is. IQ is a 2-way player positive offensively and defensively. Can play off ball and space the floor. Can create his own offense or for others. Can start or play off the bench within multiple different roles. Offers quality points per min instant offense. He will be locked in at 30mins a night and grow much like Maxey has with free reign.
With that said I view the deal as mostly IQ for OG. As again I see RJ contributions not that hard to replace.
The key is working Hartenstien, Hart and Grimes more into the offense and letting them grow their games. Though I'd rather move Grimes for more size and keep Hart as a 2-3 where his 15reb explosions and ball pushing is devastating.

the worry with IQ was also can he do it in the halfcourt when teams gameplan for him?
MIA took him out pretty easily last years playoffs.
In 13 playoff games 7.8ppg on 33/27 shooting.
So far in TOR also shooting under 40%.
I think he'll be a very good two way player but I always low key worried about his ability to do it as a starter for 30+mpg against mainly other starters, and come playoff time.
SergioNYK@ 1/6/2024 10:16 AM
RJ and IQ will always have a special place in my heart but so far it looks like a good trade for one simple reason - defense. OGA has fixed our defense! We're allowing 14 fewer ppg and went from 48% to 43% defensive FG%!
But we need to add some scoring. OGA doesn't seem like a scorer.

Thankfully I did not have to say it this time. People will become enamoured with his regular season stats. Like Randle the regular season is not his problem. He was just darn near 6thman of the year. It's when team specifically gameplan to take him out of the game. What do you do then? Until he shows he can handle that this is a better trade than the general fanbase will think.

While his production in the playoffs have been pretty trash. It's way to early in his career for it to be any type of stigma.

That apostrophe is doing some heavy lifting...'Michael Jackson bad' is a whole new level of bad.

I’m in this boat, with the addition of more DDV, Grimes, Deuce.

You answered your comment. 20-25 is not a lot for Quick but we Have Brunson. Grimes and Deuce get sunlight to grow. We develop. Thats the goal. It might not execute but to sports is about taking risks and trades are just one way.
OG was messing up Embiid on defense. We fucking blew them out on their own court! This trade was in part about chemistry. Randle was ugly last night. Thibs benched Randle down the stretch. Lead was down to 14 and He pulled the cord on Deuce and brought back Brunson. With Josh we ran them off teh court. iHart was fantastic. Maybe the money we did not spend on IQ will be on Isiah? Im far from euphoric about our how or where we end up but this is fun stuff to watch. I think OG will be getting more shots as its part of the process. We are to "recruit" him to stay. Part money, part fit and happiness.

Good thing Toronto won’t have to worry about the playoffs
