He would have been in our draft range so I'm sure we scouted him. I don't know why he dropped out of the lottery where he was projected to go. His rap is that he has lost the athleticism that he had in high school. He has a high floor. I'm interested to see if we could develop him on the same trajectory as IQ who came out of the same program. IQ was weak on fundamentals when he got here. Not exactly a 3 and D wing but I'm intrigued at the opportunity to add depth with upside on the cheap

"Losing his athleticism" was what I bought up by "zionism".......By that his muscle mass matured at an early age and his propensity is to power vs quickness. Zion still is a freak but lessor so as time goes on? If his continues to work his fundamentals Zion can have a long career. Just not as the high flier he once was. AJ in college I thought came in as a 17 year old and looked big. Still does.

I know Gaffords name has been tied to the Knicks. Even if Mitch is scheduled to come back I can see a Fournier and minor draft comp for Gafford and shamet deal. 2 contracts Knicks can carry over for a star trade. It wouldn’t surprise me if Mitch is part of a big star trade given his descending contract and current value. For example Knicks could go for Mitchell in the offseason and flip Mitch to a 3rd deal for a high value draft pick or high-level role player that can go to Cleveland. Knicks can resign Hartenstein and Gafford becomes the primary backup. It would just give the Knicks more options. I still think they have to move Fournier for a contract that extends beyond this year. So either a Gafford/shamet package, Brogdon or Clarkson. Someone like that.

Does Wizards want to trade Gaffords?

I think they will trade anyone but the rookie for picks. This is year zero of a long rebuild for them.

Would the same logic apply for Cappella from ATL ?
