Teams move up in the lottery and teams fall backwards as well. The protections for the picks give the chance that a team can fall back and into our hands based on the protected order. So they really are lottery tickets. Plus if they are so bad that the pick doesn't convey the picks become second rounders at the very top of the second round. Thus pseudo firsts with better salary cap freedom for the team who owns it.So the picks aren't worthless as I thought myself. They really are lotto tickets that some team might want to bank for the future a good team might just keep those picks in the drawer and see if they hit
If we don't make a trade better play Fornier he can shoot and do some playmaking. If nothing else he can help off the bench. Hope that scared you make a trade to bring in a playmaker like Brogdon and get a big for the bench

I have much more confidence in Detroits pick because it defers for longer and Detroit is trying to win. They will sign players. Monty Williams is not a coach who is going to keep them at the very bottom. It’s protected thru 13 in 2025 so it’s not happened. It’s protected top 11 in 2026 so it’s got a chance. But in 2027 it’s only top 9. So pick 10 on would be ours. I fully believe we could end up with a 10-13 range pick because Detroit is going to keep trying to add pieces to win.
Murray would be the perfect 6th man but I have a feeling he will not like coming off the bench. I think DVo has earned that starting spot with his play and his skillset just fits perfect with the SL. Brogdan might be a more realistic option anyway. We did business with Portland last trade deadline for Hart so there is some history there between both teams.

yes but are we going to pay a backup that is older and worse than IQ $15m per year? and does he want to stay here to be a limited backup?
And even if you resign him at $15m thats not enough salary to go out for a star trade, and how much value does a 28 year old solid backup PG making $15m even have in a trade?
Just too risky, he's not a game changer that is worth all that risk.

What is the market for Jones? Mid-level? Slightly lower? Slightly higher?
Now maybe there's another deal that works for Tyus.
Something like Mitch, and a 1st for Tyus and Gafford could be interesting.

You are constantly only thinking in terms of one move or the next move and having it equate out or have the floor lifted. You don't always need to frame it that way.
Tyus definitely a secondary option type.
We not loving on the recently extended Deuce anymore?
Isn't this were we root for him to succeed and earn his minutes?
I get we all miss and will miss IQ, but we a middle of the pack parity team with him and he could not take Brunsons place.
Brogden is a very good player. For now, Im cool with Deuce and Grimes getting some room to grow.
