Knicks · Siakam traded to Indiana for 3 picks and Bruce Brown, etc. (page 2)

EwingsGlass wrote:1) Does this deal push RJ back to SF? Thought Raptors had RJ in a good spot at SG.
2) Love Brown. Hare his contract. Not looking to mark that move but if the team doesn’t pick up that option, I’d be looking to use that MLE on him next year,
3) Not really sure Siakam fits Indiana the way they expect. Feel like he occupies the same mid-space as Turner. He is also a bit ball dominant, so I am not sure he delivers the same stats with Hali being such a good distributor. I would expect him to slow down the Pacers offense.
4) Interesting price for Siakam on an expiring.
5) Only move I really want to see the Knicks do right now is to get healthy.

I think you can only use MLE every other year?

Hmm. I thought that was why the Bi-annual was called the bi-annual exception, cause you can only use it every other year.

But, I’ve been wrong enough that I will accept correction if anyone knows more specifically.

Wow .. we lucked out whiffing on Strus.

Has he been bad? I don't really follow.

Knicks only had MLE to offer.

Shooting 40% overall and 34% from three. Averages 13 ppg in about 34 minutes.Wont even bother with the DDV comparisons.

So inline with RJ's career %'s

People will finally admit he is only a back-up

Status remains the same. "Decent role player"
Guess Indiana did not see him as most here did either.

I will take another "trade Randle thread" for $100 Alex.

1. True. Although he was playing a lot of SF with IQ and Shroder both in.
2. Next season is team option I believe.
3. Agree especially in a contract year. Seems to have been putting up a lot of shots. Maybe the possibility of winning changes his approach.
4. Agreed, Indiana really going for it. Don't see how they keep the team the same with new contracts coming up.
5. Healthy is good. Another vet to score down the stretch would not be bad either.

Bruce Brown makes a lot of sense for the Knicks and Toronto in a Fournier, picks swap. Although I have no clue what picks would satisfy.

Raps got IQ, Schroder, Gary Trent Jr, Grady Dick, RJ at the guard, wing spots?

I think we need someone more dynamic if we're going to trade picks and bench Grimes.

I'm not sure what Brown does for us that Grimes can't. If anything Grimes is a much better shooter.

We lost alot of scoring/creating/ballhanding with RJ/IQ... we need someone that can create and handle it more.

I dont know enough about Brown, but wouldn't he slot into the backup PG slot?

And he would definitely be a 3rd option type dude if other trades are too expensive.

nah he's a tough defensive 3&D SG that can pass a bit but has a suspect shot. he's def not a PG. He scores pretty much the same as Grimes on a per min basis.

Grimes is probably a more capable shooter but Bruce is a more willing one which i think is important

Grimes is at the point that on many nights an opponent need not really worry about him; his defender can be spying others looking to help until Grimes nails some. Bruce wouldn’t have that. He’s very competitive

He would be a good addition to this team chemistry wise but personally i hope we focus on clutch shooting or at least clutch scoring (need not be high scorer but need someone who will not wilt in key moments)

TBF, it took Brown 5 seasons to reach double digit scoring, Grimes did it last year in his 2nd season.

Grimes has shown if he plays 30mpg like last season he can put up 11ppg and really good 3pt shooting.

Brown is older and more experienced, but he's really not much of an upgrade overall and he's a pretty big downgrade in 3pt shooting.

Not the guy I'd make a move for.

Bruce Brown is literally Josh Hart. Very similar players.

So the Pacers sent picks 2024 #18 (Pacers pick), #27 (least of a OKC/LAC) and their own top 4 protected 2026 picks plus salary filler for Siakam.

Pascal obviously will be an UFA this offseason but apparently he and Hali have been on the phone and are pumped to play together.

For reference, the Knicks own 2024 picks #17 and #21.
