Knicks · Siakam traded to Indiana for 3 picks and Bruce Brown, etc. (page 3)
Pascal obviously will be an UFA this offseason but apparently he and Hali have been on the phone and are pumped to play together.
For reference, the Knicks own 2024 picks #17 and #21.

Yet people say our protected picks are worth so little.
goes to show you what a few 1sts can get you. Siakam obviously didnt fit here but we could have easily matched that package and barely touched our picks after this year.

Raptors were not up to maxing out Siakam, probably the same situation with Randle and Knicks, something to look out for.
I can't tell if this is another adult trade or if Raps were just in a spot and that's the best they could have gotten.
Gobert trade and some others have really skewed things for some teams. It's no wonder Atlanta is trying to drum up market for Dejounte.

The MIL '25 pick is also looking better and better... Lillard went to a team where you'd think his efficiency would skyrocket not having to do it all anymore. Instead his scoring is down over 7ppg but he's shooting under 43% and well below league average from 3.
He'll be 34 next season, Middletown 33, Lopez 37...
Not saying that's going to be a lotto pick but it may very well be in the low 20's instead of the high 20's. and if Giannis misses time forget about it.
So you have that '25 1st in a draft where ATL doesn't have picks, and they don't have picks in '27 either. Give them the '25 and the better of ours or DET in '27 and call it a day.

Yeah, really weird

Given the Siakam trade, what's your take on Murray trade value with Knicks? What's your adult trade?
Those 2 picks and Grimes/Fournier?

Yea those 2 picks and Grimes/Evan.
Maybe the WSH pick as well since that might turn into two seconds.
That's a very solid offer. Essentially Grimes + 2-3 firsts.

And the Knicks would STILL keep both their 2024 picks.

yea and I think ATL prefers it that way since they already have two picks in '24 and this is perceived a weaker draft.
we could probably use 1 of the picks and kick another one down the line for future use.

I'd prefer it if they used a pick this year since the roster could use young, cheap talent. But I'm expecting Brock to have the team set with protected picks thru 2036.
martin wrote:Obi got Siakam in front of him and Walker putting up gonzo numbers in the GLeague and breathing down his neck from behind.
If Walker can net you another piece in the "Win now" thought, you trade him and extend Obi for a reasonable cost.
All this is fluid.
Siakim at his age and potential pay was an issue for Raptors. Perhaps trading him last year would have been best but looking back is easy.
The adults also know sometimes let players walk. When you do that you allow for opportunity also. Some call it luck.
Dallas let Brunson walk. NOla Let randle walk. The system works. It benefits the players and creates opportunities.
Now Toronto has a young core of Barnes, Barret and IQ and bunch of picks. Trent JR is also UFA and perhaps his trade value is slim. If we can use him this year he is a straight trade for fornier. Seems he gets a DDV type deal if he is even that? I don't know.
Now, we see all that is EF and there is a team option, perhaps Trents "expiring" has benefit to them to do a trade now?
His minutes are down, he does not start, but he attempt abotu 5 3pt a game making 42%.
His game I don't believe is rounded enough for Thibs? He is very "Fornier".

Pacers needed IQ for roster balancing. Siakam's impending FA also knocked down the amount of suitors.

Oh you know what... I think I got it: Their pick this year is top 6 protected. 7 or better and it goes to San Antonio.
And now Raptors should be in full tank mode.
