Good number for IHart. Good pay day for OG.

So many options in FA.

I expect them to bring back their top 8 players (Brunson, Randle, OG, Donte, hart, Hartenstein, Mitch and deuce) plus Sims on his cheap deal. Then it’s all about filling out the roster with draft picks and cheap help. I think the draft will be our busy time, then it will be a lowkey summer. Bogey is the biggest question mark. I think he’s either used in a deal prior to his full contract guarantee or the Knicks let him go. He’s very expensive and Knicks can easily avoid the first apron without him. They can simply retain both Burks and Achiuwa for less total dollars than bogey will cost to retain. Just a guess though. Maybe they don’t care. Either way it will be good to bring back this entire group plus hopefully have 2-3 rookies on the roster to watch develop, which this team needs. They have been excellent at drafting later in the draft (IQ, grimes, deuce, sims) when they have actually drafted. The culture is set and player development is there.

I would be okay with that. Granted we have a window to try net a guy before the cap becomes an issue. But looking around the league. I don't see the guy that's available to be had that is able to put us over the hump. Us completely healthy is a pretty damn good team.
9 man rotation:

IHart/Mitch
Randle/OG
OG/Bojan
DDV/Hart
Brunson/Mcbride

-I think Sims is out. Can get a player with better impact at the draft with more offensive upside. Plus need better coverage for Mitch injury issues.(Edey? Dickinson?)
-Need a Forward that can sit behind Bojan being groomed to take over for him after this season. Can slide in if Bojan becomes often inj at his age for next season.

Sims is cheap and was drafted by this group so I’d be surprised if they let him go. If they want center coverage, Edey, Ware or Holmes are all possibilities that might be there at 24/25. For a bogey replacement either now or in the future, Scheierman is an option as a backup wing shooter/ scorer.

Keeping Sims or letting him go wouldn't matter to me as much as having someone more talented ahead of him capable of contributing as a 2way player during our upcoming playoff runs.
Bojan's understudy doesn't necessarily have to be a replica of him. But someone with an offensive bag for the long term.

Sims is okay but I expected more progress.

There's a reason he was nearly the last pick in that draft. Even in college, people were disappointed with his development. I'd say he's been alright for an end of the bench guy.

I think he is gone this offseason. Definitely a disappointment. Time to move on

I dunno. $2mm seems like a no brainer.

Yes he’s too cheap not to keep. He’s getting paid less than the late first round picks will be. And he’s a quality backup and we really need 4 centers on the roster.

With Mitch they need 4 centers. Ideally, one of those 4 centers should be able to swing to PF. If you were able to trade Mitch and get a center that isn't as injury prone as him (or iHart to a lesser degree) you only need 3.

Some good stuff in here and I haven't watched the whole thing.

At the 7:30 mark, Scotto says OG floor contract extension number is $35M (according to casual ask of GM's around league) and I think also said the most the Knicks (or any team) can offer him is $42M. The $42M number is news to me, hadn't realized.

Never thought i would see the day where I just hope we can lock in our core guys and run it back. Improvement around the margins is my only other expectation.

Man might be the first time I've rooted for a Heat guy in any capacity. Go Quinn!

If we need to get a low cost vet to back up Ragu how about Chris Duarte. Knicks wanted to draft him a few years ago . Two way player, off the bench. Don't think he will cost much. Better option the Alec Burks ???

Why you gotta take minutes away from Deuce?

Duarte would be a depth piece. Injuries, suspensions, fouls happen. Duarte would be outside the 9 man rotation but have to have depth beyond the 9 man rotation. That's my opinion every year.

Duarte has been really bad the past two years. Forget about Burks, I'm not sure he's a better option than Duquan Jeffries or Jacob Toppin.

Anyone have any insight on the 42 million cap for OG? Is that his max salary number?
