Knicks · Villanova Knicks Complete: NY lands Mikal (page 21)

Now we know why we signed those end of the bench guys even though Thibs was never going to play them. They had this figured out from last season. Only mistake was giving iHart a 2 year deal.
Clean @ 7/4/2024 1:03 PM

Brock still working.

Leon Rose should offer a course for being a cap god.

Dadiet was clear he wanted to play next year and not be stashed. OK, take 80% and we can find room for you.

Brock been on this for months. Just because we don't understand the plan does not mean there is no plan. As long as we were close enough that it was possible I knew Brock would figure it out. Now lets see how they sure up Center.

Had 0 concern about them nailing the cap part. The only question was who do they inevitably end up pulling for the C rotation?

and there goes part 2.

Weird how we went from eurphoric to get Mikal, ecstatic over OG signing, to despondent when iHart left Despite warnings to its eventuality.

Since we don't want any of the leftover centers in FA speculation is we use the mid level to sign buyouts next season for more than min contract. That would give us a leg up on signing them over other contenders.

yes, Perhaps thats on the table and an option. FO now has the tools to be patient. I have mentioned Capella as one option. Being under the apron make it easier to make a trade for Kessler or its irrelevant? Same for the Detroit thing we talked about previously? This is good fantasy play, but Im good going in with with Precious backing up Randle and double duty as back up Center if Sims can't get his mind right. Also im good with Mitch as our starter.

WE just restructured with OG and Mikal. We have 4 starters that are young in prime and depth in all areas (But the 5). HUK might contribute. Unknowns can also be invited to camp.

I don't think knicks would be part of any of this (unless Randle is offered) but I can't fathom Minny going in second apron/tax hell with Rudy/Kat/Naz.

I waited this long for this roster, Perhaps we don't get our chip this year, but we moving closer!!!
next year will be fun!!!

Wonder why they only went for 2 years without year 3 option.

Comparison

Mikal makes $10-20m less too, it matters

Rudy Gobert:

• 4 firsts 1 swap

Donovan Mitchell:
• Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Ochai Agbaji
• 3 firsts 1 swap

Kevin Durant:
• Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder
• 4 firsts 1 swap

Mikal Bridges:
• Bojan Bogdanovic, Shake Milton, Mamadi Diakite
• 5 firsts 1 swap

We’re like sugar rushed kiddos on Christmas ripping through the presents and then melting down when there are no more.

WOW - had read a few blips on this finalized trade but for the life of me I kept missing that we got KBD also.

I think this is an underrated add - first off Thibs drafted him, 2nd I’ve always thought he was a well rounded / decent player and seem to remember J Cohen (KFS) pushing for him as a Knicks guy/fit all last summer. Jeremy may have been right long term.

Do wonder though if KBD could conflict with Precious coming back but Precious is more a 5 now vs KBD a 4.

I'm guessing that was on iHart. He might've decided to gamble on himself and the gamble paid off. Might also be that the Knicks thought there was no way iHart was going to get $30M a year at the end of the deal. I can say with confidence that there was no way iHart saw himself get $30M a year when he signed with us.

At best his guy is just depth but we sure needed that last year.

Good depth pick-up. Can play the 4 as well.

Thibs looks like Bates-Diop's agent.

Glad we're adding depth to the wing position. Long season, and post-season
