I think Bridges could be featured off the bench while still giving us great defense (along with Hart and Deuce). Think Bridges is more of a creator and could thrive with minutes being centered offensively.

Brunson seems to have good chemistry with DDV already and he's more of a stand at the 3pt line and wait for the kickout type of player.

Not sure Bridges (mid-range) would fit as well playing most minutes with Brunson (now not having IHart screening every play), Randle needing touches, etc..

Who do you finish the game with? "Thibian Hot Hand"? or your very expensive bench guy?

I think the focus is on defense, not offense though. Have to imagine the plan is OG and Mikal are supposed to take on Tatum and Brown ( and whatever other wing duos)

That leaves us w two all NBAs in Randle and Brunson initiating and outletting to corner 3s. Mitch and whoever else crashing the glass. Seems surreal that DDV and Hart will have to fight for minutes

I think instead of subbing OG out at the 5 min mark it will be Bridges. Bridges will come back in at the start of the second period and anchor the bench. Basically Bridges will assume RJ’s role which became OG’s role.

Yes. Bridges back to start and run with Randle when Brunson sits.

Brunson and Bridges both have elite mid-range games. Should get enough attention from defenses to create good looks from 3pt range.

Im also excited about the fact that DDV proved that he can be a quality starter for the Knicks. And we're deep enough to bring him off the bench.

Brunson might be the best mid range shooter in the league right now

I agree. One of the few players that should be taking mid-range shots from an efficiency standpoint.

Judging from those numbers, Bridges should be as well. Its going to help collapse the D, and give our 3 point shooters some open looks. We're going to be tough to beat if we're a good 3 point shooting team, and dangerous from mid-range as well.

Things about to get spicy?

This new cba apron thing is a disaster. Its so bad teams are working with each other to get around it.

To me this is sort of a given. Knicks want to get around the first apron. Maybe they decide it’s not worth it, but they have 2 objectives; get around the first apron and add a center (or 2.) we will see if they can accomplish one or both with this trade expanded.

The players union only has itself to blame. Mid tier players are definitely feeling the pain.

If a mid-tier center getting $30m per year is pain in your universe, then I really envy you.

But the way owners are coming up with all these complicated schemes to police their own spending reminds me of that movie, where a junkie boarded himself up in his room to combat the urge to go out and score a hit.

that is one extreme example. The reason they overpaid so much is because he would have taken less to stay. They had to make the gap so wide he could not refuse. ALso watch for the other players who are left and how they get squeezed out when teams over the 2nd apron can't sign them to anything over a min deal and teams near the first only have a mid level exception to offer.

DLeethal @ 7/4/2024 9:08 AM
As much as it would sting I would probably support Deuce being included if we can get back a good young C. Seems we could probably find a vet min point guard more easily than a C. Mitch is too high injury risk to not have someone good there.
SergioNYK @ 7/4/2024 10:05 AM
This means it'll either be Deuce or Precious being traded, correct?

That sucks. Kessler and Richards aren't worth that imo.

Part one of sending out more money. More is needed after this.
Clean @ 7/4/2024 12:22 PM

and there goes part 2.

Now we know why we signed those end of the bench guys even though Thibs was never going to play them. They had this figured out from last season. Only mistake was giving iHart a 2 year deal.
