My guess is Dadiet is on the roster and plays all of his time in westchester. Kolek is on the active roster and has legit value on the current roster as a 3rd string PG. As for McCullar and Hukporti they are flexible pieces for reasons we have just discussed.
I think all of this could be true and I hope it is.
It is wild to me that the Knicks are possibly taking 2 forks forward at same time: 1) did their best to fortify end of rotation for this upcoming season and championship push and 2) possibly starting a well thought out GLeague dev team that’ll feature on 18yo with high ceiling.
The Dadiet pick is so interesting because it’s never a player any of us had on the bingo card but if the Knicks honestly took him in the first round simply because they see a high upside prospect and are committed to keeping him on the active roster that is such a revelation. This is the one thing this front office has lacked; real upside prospects in the pipeline. They always lean towards nba ready when they commit to the draft. This front office has been pretty much perfect except for this one area and a commitment to it is really impressive.

Quite frankly, another possibility is that the Knicks picked him is because they like his ceiling and hoped he would take a few years before he came over. Wouldn’t be surprised if an effort to change his mind was going on.

The pick just doesn't make sense given we are such a NOW TEAM at the moment - I don't believe they are all of a sudden loading the pipeline. Fact he is euro and could be stashed is also suspect.

Yes Martin that's what I'm suspecting but who knows.

being win now doesnt mean EVERY pick has to be a NOW player, smart teams can balance now and the future and I think thats what we did with that pick.
Let him practice, sit and learn for 2 years the way we did with Deuce and look what we have now. SPURS were always great at winning while drafting for the future too.

There was no pick at #24-#26 that was going to crack the rotation. They also weren't in a position financially to trade the pick for a proven veteran. Getting the youngest player in the draft with some of the highest upside who they can be patient with is a pretty logical choice within those circumstances. Especially with 3 draft picks around the same range. Can afford to gamble, and were def feeling lucky.
They probably would have liked to have traded up for a different guy they liked under different circumstances. But cap wise it they weren't trying to do that.
We should be getting more clues into what is the plan later today.

I think the quote martin just posted from reddit applies here.
Knicks need to find $4,268,001 in outgoing salary to be able to hit the second apron. Knicks can add one of their minimum salary players to the deal and then ... I'm not sure. Burks minimum of 3, 644,798 is tantalizingly close but not enough.
Some other options I'm seeing on the internet ate trading Randle or Robinson- both of which seem like mistakes. Bridges will start at 2 and DDV will move to the bench so I don't see how many more minutes will be available for McBride anyway.
The biggest factor will be if another team offers IHart a contract to big too refuse.
Centers making 17-24 million are Nurkic 19, Vucevic 20, Capela 22, Draymond Green 24, and KP at 29. Add Claxton to that list as well. I'm skeptical IHart will get a big FA offer.

It was Colonel Rose in the library with a pen! The way we’ve been cost cutting I’d say with 100% certainty Bon voyage, hasta la vista baby Knicks
For all we know they have agreed in principle but Leon got work to do.
For all we know iHart might be making plans for his free agency and what the money might look like.
For all WE know Leon and Co. might have other plans that could be a better fit then we know with another player.
THis is all so fun!!!!

I mean, we’ve been rolling with Mitch as our starting C for how many years?

If Mitch can stay on the damn court then yes.
If Mitch can hit a damn FT, then Yes.
But at the same time crunch time playoffs is this the guy we want on the floor if he can’t hit a FT?
We talking 4 series to win a chip.
He is family, Im not sure he is our dude. Not saying he can’t play a role.

My understanding is the Knicks have the moves lined up, they just need iHart to accept and that in part, he needs/wants to see offers Sunday 6pm or whenever FA starts.
For instance, they’re not going to trade McBride if iHart isn’t staying. So I think that is where things are.

Randle is going to have to play some 5. He started out as a F/C he just doesn’t like playing C

Knicks should exercise the option on Sims he’s cheap and effective

Coincidentally those are the same years we have been playing winning basketball and not been a joke

Mitch ain't the guy - Knicks fans overrate him - he is bad at basketball.
Seems like a great guy - nice kid but the lack of development offensively and the injuries are harsh --- his offensive rebound rate looks great but shouldn't it given he literally has no other skill offensively and hangs around the rim all night. Even screening he is piss poor at.
