Knicks · Kevin McCuller is a straight up steal (page 1)

I was on this guy for one of our first rounders. Has been compared to Hart, I saw a little of Grimes. Bottom line this is an experienced college player who scored 18pts /6 rebs as a wing on Kansas, one of the top programs in the country. He had a lot of OG Anunoby like stats for them in terms of on court / off-court stats and record. However he has one key issue - a knee injury that kept him out of the NCAA. This was why the on-court/off-court thing was such a big story. That said, he and Kolek have a ton of playing experience and fit the profile of Thibs guys - maybe less of a ceiling, but NBA ready. I think McCullar gets the Hart comp because he's not necessarily a star, but a connector. A guy who is always on the floor doing important things, but isn't the focal point of the team.

I do wonder if he has to miss more time and that's why he slipped. He should have been a first round pick. We can wait him out a year if he's not healthy. Great pick by NYK

Just be better then Jeffries and Brown.

First watch Kolek get compared to Brunson and then watch McCullar with the lockdown, switch and closeout.

I see a lot of similarities with Josh Hart. Would be a great mentor there.

Yeah, he is a good fit guy

Good boost in talent for the G-League developmental program with Dadiet, Kolek, McCullar.

Hopefully he's recovered and his knee issues are a thing of the past.

I think if he hadn't gotten hurt this season and was able to finish the year on the court, he would've been a late 1st, or more likely, an early 2nd rnd pick.

If healthy, we really did get a steal.

If he’s not damaged goods he’s a steal. I had him as a good first round option awhile back too. Knicks got a good reload in their prospect pool from this draft.

Already has an nba body, can score inside and shoot mid-range. Good defender and rebounder. Good length and height for a 2. Mediocre at best 3-point shooter

I mean, unless it’s career ending, we can afford to give him time to recover

Wow. What a great analysis. Hadn’t seen this Heat Check before. Really solid work.

Based purely on highlights from this very thread, he looks like a perfect roll player for a capped out championship team.

In time... Right now he's looking more like a potential G-League candidate. It's funny, the team went from being deep with big men to balls deep in wings.

I like his defensive skills, anticipation. But McCuller needs to work on his conditioning, finishing stronger off of steals. Some of those finishes looked like high school layups, which will be swatted in the NBA. But overall Im impressed with what he brings to the table.

Interesting comp. Might end up being the right one.
