If you could make 3.5 yrs worth of salary in 2 yrs worth of work and sit home on your butt for an extra 1.5 yrs in retirement you'd do that every day of the week.

not sure i agree. the marginal utility of that extra money isn't the same when you're already talking 18mill/year isn't the same compared to someone making 50k vs 100k.

there are more important things than money. I wish no ill-will but i suspect as he's counting his money he might wonder whether it was worth it. He had a very good thing going here.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. Even though iHart is dead to me, I still wish him well. But an Achilles or MCL tear and he might wish he had that extra security of 4 years. It's a gamble. That said, I'd probably take the upfront money. I think he's good for a MLE at the very least if OKC opts out. And given the surge in AAVs, I think they keep him anyway as salary in a potential trade.

iHart would have generational wealth with one year's salary from either contract. If he doesnt try to live like a rock star. Also his wife's income gives them added security as well. Although I dont know what she clears.

I think there was definitely a point where she made more than him before he came here. But she's coming an ACL tear,uh, I mean baby. She might not be gigging like she did in the past.

If a guy can't figure it out with 72 million he has major problems with numeracy.

one day he'll wake up staring at his gilded ceiling in OKC and say to himself WTF. But at least he'll be able to console himeself with the lower cost of living resulting from eating at Denny's and Craker Barrel rather than Jean George and whatever other fancy schmancy places NYC offers.

hope he likes rodeo

If a company offered you 60% more for the same job in OKC over the same job in NYC, you'd go too.

I can't say that I would. Like i said elsewhere, the marginal utility once you're in that range is not as big as you think.

You are very far off on that opinion for a lot of people.

Question:
Are the Knicks better with Mikal after losing iHart, or worse?
Nalod @ 7/2/2024 10:48 PM
WE got some "sour groping"?
His wife is 33 and with baby. IM not one to judge models but its hard work and we have no idea if she wants to work, getting jobs, or what ever.
As for the money vs winning? That team won 57 games tied for 1st in the west and as far as we did in the playoff. Seems like he got along well in LA and of course in NY.
As for the window to earn and how hard he works I don't think any of us can really juxtapose him to anything we have experienced.
His career is about himself and for his family/loved ones, not the fans. He is not fucking us over, he is 26! He is making 59mm in two years than 72mm in 4.
Thats not even close. Saying the difference is not a big deal? TWO YEARS!! If he gets hurt his is ok. If not, he is a free agent perhaps at age 28!!!!

Vegas just put our odds at second highest of winning the NBA Finals next season right below the Celtics for a reason

I wonder who Vegas thinks our starting center will be around May/June.

Don’t know from what experience you speak but $15 million is a shit load of money.
When he wakes up he will be laying next to a model, a beautiful kid in the next room, a gorgeous house and access to many fine restaurants. He will also be part one of the best young basketball teams in the world. And yes, still have the ability to visit those restaurants in NYC you think he can’t live without.

The NBA is a business first and foremost for players like IHart. He may only get one big contract. As mentioned, his chances at a ring may have improved. So there is that. He made the right move for himself. Despite what some unhappy Knick fans may think.

Of course. I would say the disgruntledness of some of us is largely tongue in cheek. It certainly is for me.

But screw him.
