Knicks · Knicks are center hunting... KAT, Kessler, Sengun, who else? Randle could be, of course, at the center of all of this (page 2)

I 100% agree. And I don't think he's worth his contract.

We say that and inflation occurs. IQ is going to make $35,000,000 a year!!!!! IQ!!!!
As said, randle can walk so we get out ahead and move him to a team that will meet his price.
He'll want more than OG and deservingly so.
Is Kat worth 49mm? This year he was. They got to Conf. finals.
Next year? As a knick? Thats the question. "Were they worth it the year they played".
Is Randle worth 45mm? He a two time all NBA the last 4 years.
Last January he was playing at that level he worth it?

KAT is definitely worth it if you sense that you cannot sign Randle and/or Mitch to contracts you like or if they walk, which they can.

I think the vision for the Knicks with someone like KAT is offensively bonkers though and they would value that tremendously. I would start by saying I am guessing at what role KAT would fill; I thought he could be an offensive hub on his own without Brunson but am not familiar enough with his play.

The PnR with Brunson/KAT with DDV, Mikal, OG on the perimeter is not stoppable. It's a dream wing lineup - cutters, defenders, 3point shooters - with 2 offensive savants around them who are also deadly 3point shooters themselves.

Think JB with any All Star (Randle) and those on the wing are unstoppable. Which has already proven during run in January.

Don’t see the over hype on KAT? He had a solid team at Minni. Two high high level NBA stars. Yet what? Reason why they would move on. Believe they overvalued him as well and now trying to dump their mistake. See no reason we should fall for the star#*@#.

Do see a path where Knicks would need to trade Randle. But feel it would be due to a fear of losing him at free agency with limited return. If that becomes the case, I vote for Jackson.

Still feel we will be fine this year even if we don’t get another C. Keep pushing Randle at 5 and Hart at 4 small lineup.

KnickDanger @ 7/10/2024 3:20 PM
You’re the boss here, Martin, you can trade Randle all you want. Not against that which makes the team better. Will repeat what I have said elsewhere though, seems coming off a major injury and surgery you would be selling low.
VDesai @ 7/10/2024 3:31 PM
Sengun doesn't seem realistic. He is the best player the Rockets have so why would they be selling? Also under his current contract scale its almost impossible to put together a compelling trade package for him without all of our picks.

I can't believe fake information from Freaking Berman and some Podcaster are actually driving news sites into reporting things that are so far off from reality. CC the Podcaster said "I think they'll go after KAT" and people are acting like it's some sort of reality. Marc Berman literally creates fake tweets to troll Knicks fans and people actually believe Houston is going to move their young almost star center to the Knicks for.. what? I wish when I see things like this I can post the Michael Jordan please stop get help video.

Randle torn labrum repair is not major surgery. He was producing at a 25-8 clip and playing some great ball. All star, all NBA player.
Mitchell was a DPOY candidate before he got hurt.

Sangun makes a bit over $5mm. Sounds to good to be tru.........
Wait for it, the bad part:
WE get Dillon Brooks with Sangun. Thats how the money works. They want to roll with Tara Eason.
bit expensive for a back up, but that gives us depth, and that gets Rockets out of that contract.
Im not selling it, just how something like this might work........

Of course it is

Rockets already have a young promising PF in J. Smith Jr. Why would they want to bring in Randle and stunt his growth?

And any conversation regarding KAT for Randle is laughable...and the fact that Martin thinks the Knicks were the ones that put this info out just to get a reaction from Randle is the most outrages thing posted in this thread.

Nalod @ 7/10/2024 4:37 PM
Jabari Smith numbers went up offensively when Sengun sat the last 18 games. They won 9 in a row when that happened. They might have seen something. They really liked chemistry wise. Both are he and Sengun are 6-11.
They were locked to the play in then fell apart losing 5 in a row. Not sure what happened.
As good as Sengun is, maybe they don't see both him and Smith together and, perhaps they want to move up that time table a bit.
Both Players are 21-22. Super young. Sengun made a big leap this year. Is it sustainable? Do they want to pay up for both him and Smith in lock step? Sengun is better than thought so maybe they see this as a big plus and Jules can help the younger guys as well. They have Steven Adams on the payroll one more year. He Sat all last year.
If Smith is to be an great player, he'll still will be one. Sengun might not reach more with him and Smith together.
Outrageous? Randle is not 30, a two time All NBA player. Sengun is a rising promising player. You lose him then run off 9 in a row? Not like Rockets are not rich with picks. They are. And Sengun is Restricted Free agent after this upcoming season. Maybe they don't want to pay all the young guys. Maybe they regret brooks and opening up that money allows them other things. Jules is an all-star all NBA dude. 25-8. Don't grow on trees.

I responded very directly to you. You read what you would like to read, not to really understand what is going on. You are reading what I posted incorrectly, twice.

I've never said it was to get a reaction from Randle as you are thinking or insinuating, like to get a reaction response from Randle. That's dumb thinking. They are assessing the market. Both for a center and to see where Randle is with his contract extensions. These are all intertwined.

Let me know what parts you don't understand. Swishfm3, these things are pretty straight forward when you read them correctly.

It is very well known and well documented that the Knicks FO have conversations with all teams about most of their players. They undoubtedly have talked about a KAT exchange or what Minny is looking for if they would ever move him. To NOT do so would be criminal.

You let me know why you as a FO type would not talk about a Randle for KAT exchange and I'll follow that up with how delinquent a GM thinker you are.

I was hoping the KAT rumor would go away but should we really take it seriously coming from CP? This has not been reported by Woj, Shams or Begley.

I don't think it sounds realistic at all considering how successful Minnesota was this past season with KAT and how much Leon, Thibs and co. feel about Randle. Why would either team make this trade? Both of them are going to be in the same ballpark salary wise in the future. And basketball wise, both teams would take a step back.

No secret I don't like KAT. I think he's extremely overrated. I hate his style of play and demeanor. Too much like Charles Smith and Bargnani. I know KAT is a better player then those 2 but he is not a better player than Randle. And Randle fits so well with this current roster!

And we'd lose Mitch too? So who is going to replace the rim protection and attack the offensive glass? Kessler? LOL!

Thankfully I don't think this rumor has any legs. Kind of reeks of CP trying to get clicks in the summer.

CP is being a self promoting opportunist, with this fake story. He better not continue this his fan base might not like it if he keeps it up. Plenty of other blogs

As you remember from your time as a regular on the old ESPN Knicks board many years ago, all this KAT talk is like Chris Webber all over again. It never dies.

As a Rookie KAT was already a top 5 post up player. The league got away from Centers posting up, but KAT completely abandoned that part of his game. Now its all from the arc, with the occasional drive to the rim. If KAT started posting up defenders again, showed more versatility to his game, I'd be more interested in a trade.

Interesting point. I think that's the player the Knicks need. The versatility to step out to the three (pulling an opposing goon with him) to clear the paint, but the ability to play the role of the 1 in a 4-1 offense. Meaning his work on the block and ability to find the open three in a motion offense would be critical. I think Randle can also be that 1 on offense but lacks the reach to handle the block on defense.

Good point about keeping the defense honest and kicking the ball out to the open man for 3.

Tony's a damn genius.

Personally I'm more concerned about Embiid injuring our guys than facing the Celtics in the playoffs.

Nick Richards is a guy I just see breaking out here. In the same context as Hartenstein where the numbers say he’s pretty good but he just needs to be on a better team. The issue is his contract. I don’t want to deal McBride for him. Achiuwa S&T plus the fake Washington pick makes the most sense, whether Achiuwa goes to Charlotte or a third team.
