Knicks · Knicks are center hunting... KAT, Kessler, Sengun, who else? Randle could be, of course, at the center of all of this (page 3)

I don't think it sounds realistic at all considering how successful Minnesota was this past season with KAT and how much Leon, Thibs and co. feel about Randle. Why would either team make this trade? Both of them are going to be in the same ballpark salary wise in the future. And basketball wise, both teams would take a step back.

No secret I don't like KAT. I think he's extremely overrated. I hate his style of play and demeanor. Too much like Charles Smith and Bargnani. I know KAT is a better player then those 2 but he is not a better player than Randle. And Randle fits so well with this current roster!

And we'd lose Mitch too? So who is going to replace the rim protection and attack the offensive glass? Kessler? LOL!

Thankfully I don't think this rumor has any legs. Kind of reeks of CP trying to get clicks in the summer.

As you remember from your time as a regular on the old ESPN Knicks board many years ago, all this KAT talk is like Chris Webber all over again. It never dies.

As a Rookie KAT was already a top 5 post up player. The league got away from Centers posting up, but KAT completely abandoned that part of his game. Now its all from the arc, with the occasional drive to the rim. If KAT started posting up defenders again, showed more versatility to his game, I'd be more interested in a trade.

Damn we're old.

You shut your whore mouth!

Holy crap I need to cut back on the caffeine.

I don’t get the incentive for Charlotte to move their backup C for a backup PF.

The bigs for Hornets: Mark Willams, Nick Richards, Grant Willams, Miles Bridges. And their PF/SF 19yo rookie Saladin and Brandon Miller.

They got a lot of PF types and only one backup C?

Why do they want Precious?

I'm going with Precious over Kessler and Richards.

Hey no one believes Simms is going to break out at center like Deuce did at guard last season ? Have to say very disappointed with CP dishing out the crap he did about Kat for clicks

There is a world in which I see this. But you will be giving up quite a bit of body weight. He has the reach. In that regard, Sims is the same kind of player, but a bit bigger.

I just think maybe Charlotte might still be in asset collection mode. They aren’t quite at the level of their rebuild where they should worry about backups.

What do you call a Precious asset that will never play behind all the other PFs? Useless?

I think the vision for the Knicks with someone like KAT is offensively bonkers though and they would value that tremendously. I would start by saying I am guessing at what role KAT would fill; I thought he could be an offensive hub on his own without Brunson but am not familiar enough with his play.

The PnR with Brunson/KAT with DDV, Mikal, OG on the perimeter is not stoppable. It's a dream wing lineup - cutters, defenders, 3point shooters - with 2 offensive savants around them who are also deadly 3point shooters themselves.

Yes the hub of the offense would revolve around Brunson/Kat screen roll/pop and everything else in 1/2 court feeds off that. Kat would provide extra space where Randle would squeeze things and Kat gets his shots quickly - catch/shoot or quick drives so not as much ball stopping as Julius.

Nice thing about Kat contract is it would be big enough to move for another star if someone (Greek) forced themselves to only NT.

Brunson, DDV, Mikal, OG, Sengun/KAT. Less bench

Or

Brunson Mikal, OG, Randle, low cost center. Stout bench

That's my baseline.

They also need to create a market for several players, thus the noise. I wouldn't also be surprised if this was to feel out what Randle wants and make decisions after that.

Are you implying that the Knicks org are putting these rumors out to gage how Randle would respond??

IMO...This rumor, from pundits, that Knicks want to mimic Boston's model is absurd considering that KP only played in like 5 playoff games.

He was pretty much a non-factor.

Boston had a historically good regular season from a NET RTG perspective which is meaningful, and they wiped the floor with a team who beat two 55 win teams in the playoffs en route to the finals. Nothing absurd about it.

DLeethal @ 7/10/2024 11:01 PM
An offensive C makes sense because we can put out the best wing/forward defense in the NBA with any combo of DDV/Hart/Mikal/OG. I could see it. People are underrating the combination of Mikel and OG on offense as well when they say we need Randle for extra shot creation. Brunson with Mikal and OG and a guy like KAT is lightyears different than Brunson with DDV and Hart and Hartenstein, from a "forced to do everything" perspective.

I don’t know either well enough but Sengun in that same KAT role with Brunson and the wings would be bonkers too

Saw a bit of Kessler tonight...Had some decent numbers, but didn't do much scoring.

He didn't jump out at me, and he's a 3rd year player out there. I saw him moved around rather easily at times and he looks like someone who will pick up a lot f fouls on D.

I did see some nice ball movement from him, though, which was nice to see. Seems unselfish. Also saw some quick hands on D a couple of times.

Maybe some of you know him better than me...I've rarely, if at all, seen him before, but I don;t see him being worthy of significant draft capital.
