Around 1 p.m. Saturday, an official with the U.S. Forest Service, which is supporting recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, sent an urgent message to numerous federal agencies warning that “FEMA has advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediately. The message stated that National Guard troops 'had come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying there were out hunting FEMA.’”

“The IMTs [incident management teams] have been notified and are coordinating the evacuation of all assigned personnel in that county,” the email added.

Two federal officials confirmed the authenticity of the email, though it was unclear whether the quoted threat was seen as credible

“It’s terrible because a lot of these folks who need assistance are refusing it because they believe the stuff people are saying about FEMA and the government,” Duncan said. “And it’s sad because they are probably the ones who need the help the most.”

The other thing is the national debt increased from $20 trillion to $27 trillion during trump’s 4 years in office. The national debt is still increasing thanks mostly to his tax cuts for the rich. The higher the deficit and debt = higher inflation.

Ofcourse the media and right wing pundits will never discuss this. Everything is the fault of poor people and immigrants

All true! Right wingers forget how they too benefited from the cash handouts to keep business and households going. Sure there was those who were not entitled as was many right wing business's that took advantage was well. Inflation "cash chasing hard to find goods and services". Countries like ours that printed money have faired better than most. The economy has spots that are "landing harder than others" but no recession to speak of. Unemployment is still really low and while inflation sucks, its part of everything. Fear mongering Right wing is effective campaign strategy. Trump lying telling everyone what they want to hear is not going to benefit our country.

I thought inflation was caused by supply chain disruption but trade with China actually increased in 2021, 2022 before falling in 2023. Weird.

"too much $ chasing too few goods". Classic inflation definition.
Cash handouts created some of the fuel.
Tarrifs for sure did not help.
Supply chain disruption created pend up demand.

This all occurred during both administrations and in my opinion circumstantial rather than to be blamed.
Oil prices on Biden is ignorant.
Be like blaming trump for toilet paper shortage.

Trumps campaign pinning inflation on Biden or Harris is ignorant.
But thats what you got folks, a country made of mostly an ignorant voting population.

Sports and media is about pinning blame all to often.

Who had money on Harris's best interview being on Fox?

I have to tell you, the Harris team has done a very good job of both navigating the different types of media and setting/shaping the expectations a well-run political party should have when engaging these sources of media.

The mainstream media has been put on notice via that engagement level and I love it. Harris campaign has done a very very good job of engaging differently to gain leverage back for and to themselves, as they should.

Ramiro Gonzalez is now my favorite (ex?) Republican.

What a load of verbal diarrhea that came out of Trump's puckered sphincter in response.

Sadly, Trump supporters don't really care about facts, or whether or not Trump answers questions or just baffles with bullshit.

All they want is a clown/entertainer in the White House who make them laugh and emboldens their own shitty behavior. That's it.

"Nothing done wrong, at all, nothing done wrong." No, prick. You're inaction during the riot was exactly what you did wrong. Great attempt at covering your ass though.

Please let there be the largest turnout in history for this election.

martin @ 10/17/2024 5:32 PM
These people LOL

I just realized I’m simply having a REALLY, REALLY STUPID ****ING dream. Phew!

Can’t wait to wake up!

Elon set up a SuperPAC that legally can't coordinate with any political candidate. It is just about confirmed that Elon put $75+M in a PAC called "American PAC". That's the public number and only Elon's portion so far. Definitely no coordination between this PAC and the RNC, right?!

Elon's vote - a legal immigrant to the United States - counts more than yours and mine. He is paying people $75 to sign up other MAGA voters, something along those lines.

What you guys think? Do you think the Middle East, Russia, China are also contributing to this PAC so that Trump can win and pardon himself and then step aside for... Vance who is owned by Peter Thiel and Elon?

What happened with all of those classified documents that were just sitting around for months and years? Why is that not the first top story EVERYWHERE!?!?!

martin @ 10/18/2024 11:21 AM
Everyone who is voting in this election should have heard by now that one of the two candidates literally had boxes of super duper classified documents in his basement, bathroom, and ballroom and this is still a tight fucking election?!?!

BLOWS. MY. MIND. AWAY.

But you know me, I'm a free wheeler, and what have you got to lose, right?

martin @ 10/18/2024 11:31 AM
These are the people that are representing full states. Sitting governor running for re-election? I don't even know. Not only leading millions of people, but asking them to put their faith in him that he is going to do them and their family and their kids right. But decided to stick his face and his family's face in the trough first, sucking up as much as they can and then maybe when they are good and done drinking everything, maybe they will may attention to the hurricane coming through their state or the failing healthcare and roads and schools that are also failing.

Hogan is already worth between $10-$35M. His governor's salary is between $150-$180K and maybe he gets free mansion and board and protection and lots of free car rides for his family.

And yet, that was not good enough. He wanted more.

This is America. This is Capitalism at its best, right?

We need even more deregulation? Less rules? Less taxing the rich? I don't think so.

Found it!

Elon has friends too! I wonder if his friends have friends or have international friends?

Old lug-head may not even make it to election day.

I don’t watch or listen Elon speak much but just listen to this James Bond villain character and tell me I’m nuts. He actually says “I could talk like a normal human”.
