Have to admit OG on Toronto really did not blow me away in the time he played them. The intangibles he bought to the knicks and the resulting chemistry was impressive. Calmly the game comes to him and he devours his opponents.

From what I recall McDaniel was more offensively aggressive and playmaker which really might be why I say they are not comparable.

Given that PER is not a good statistical measure for what OG brings it might be hard to fully compare the two. I'd suspect OG's defense outside of blocks and steals really does increase his performance. Lose balls, deflections, disruptions all matter.

I find comps for OG not easy. At some point Andre Iguodala when his offense output dropped and he was more of a glue guy? He did more ball handling and assets were higher. Shane Battier? His contributions also as a defensive disruptor and 3pt shooting are things to think about. Both let the game come to them. Battier with Heatles especially.

All things considered, I can't really recall too many players like OG that got the type of contract he did and offensively low key.
