we've been great at adding good young cheap depth to offset these moves.
Deuce, CAM and Kolek for peanuts are 3 great guys to have now.

I can’t tell if Marks in in hurricane territory or in jail

They made DDV very expendable. This was a smart move, especially if we weren't re-signing Randle.

IHart opened up the offense at the high post with passing and a floater. Kat in this similar role, but a 20pt 40% three pt shooter 80% from FT!!
Defensively he isn't elite, but he holds positive defensive analytics. Last season 109 DTRTG, 3.6 DWS, 0.9 BPM.
Not to mention surrounded by quality defenders: Precious, OG, Bridges, Mcbride, Hart, Mitch.
It is amazing how people are talking about KAT defensively like he’s Eddy Curry.
He’s a very similar makeup to iHart in terms of size, footspeed, hops, instincts etc. I think he will be fine.
If you could dream up a wing lineup with KAT at C how many would be better than Hart/Mikal/OG?
If you want to go small and press KAT is the ideal Center he’s fast, athletic and can finish around the basket with the best of them

Just to add... I'm glad the Nova core doesn't own this team's moves. This will reassure non-Nova Knicks players that the Nova core isn't the only focus.

It’s a good trade for both teams. Especially if Randle is recovered from the shoulder injury playing for his next contract. DDV will beast for them and they get a pick
If Minny gets the pick, what did Charlotte get in this deal for eating salary?

It’s between this team and the ‘92 team with Ewing, Mark Jackson, X-Man, and Oak
Ill take Reed, Monroe, Debusschere, Lucas, Frazier, Bill Bradley, Phil Jackson,Dean Meminger
He said since 70’s
gotcha

Ahhhh, there was a Randle 4.1M trade bonus in the deal. Really good breakdown of how this deal works under the new rules

Knicks signed DDV for free last offseason with the MLE.
Detroit pick was acquired by moving down from #11 to #13 (Duren) in 2022 draft (DEN, WAS, DET picks acquired to move back) and then trading the Denver pick and packaging Kemba to Detroit to acquire cap space for Brunson while getting a Bucks top 4 pick they traded away in Mikal deal.
DDV & Detroit pick (from the 2022 #11-13 move down) from above plus Randle for KAT.
Knicks got that lonely WAS pick from 2022 trade left.
That’s the trade tree. That 2022 draft trade WAS WILD AND KEY (or additive) to Brunson, Mikal, KAT

i dont care what anyone says about protections or what not but turning #11 into THREE future firsts AND cap space for Brunson was genius and a franchise altering trade.

So who will replace DVo? Mikal is a different type of player and shooter.
Shamet can do a little bit of what DVo does but who knows if he makes the team.
The more I analyze this trade the more I dislike it.

DVO was barely getting 20 mins off the bench this year. We have a bunch of guards who can fill that role and we get elite volume 3 point shooting from the C spot now. It’s not about replacing a role, this team is drastically different now ala Boston after Porzingis trade.
