His game 3 shots vs DET were massive as well in a critical game we had to win. What’s crazy is how they’ve been overshadowed by so many wild plays that followed them.

Herb Jones
I’m with it. Taller Nesmith?
Maybe the slight body type of Mikal with a bit more height and combine it with strength and explosion that OG has and with much better ball handling than both. He is a ball mover like Josh but more willing of a scorer and light years better defender than Hart. Thibs guy. You’d have to give up Mitch, and Mitch is the perfect player for the Pelicans IMHO. It’s a swap that makes too much sense for both teams.
And then I’d move KAT just for funnsies

This was my initial reaction to the KAT trade, and I think I'm back there. I just don't want him on the team. He's a knucklehead. I can't stand seeing him make the same stupid a) defensive fouls, and b) or drives that are either nearly offensive fouls or getting his shot blocked. He looked good early on, particularly because he was making good passes, but he stopped that, and now just bulldozes into multiple defenders. I'm really done with him. I wish we could rewind the clock.

I couldn’t even comment on this thread the first day. I went from diehard fan to not even looking forward to the season.

Passing KAT is elite and that's what I want. Thibs will not give it to us tho. ISO KAT is not something I like, but then I don't like ISO Brunson either, unless it's with less than 5 mins left.
I honestly feel like Brunson+KAT can be a #1 offense in the league. A stronger offense can offset the D shortcomings of this pairing. But it's not going to happen under Thibs. Out of Brunson, KAT and Thibs- one of them has to go

This is insightful and speaks to the limitations imposed by this offensive scheme - or lack thereof.

What ever happened to passing KAT from the early season? Dude was doing Rucker park no look pass shit on a nightly basis. What happened to the offense of the early season needs to be studied. Is it simply every team put a small on Towns and a roaming big on Hart and that was RIP elite offense?

I thought it all changed when he got hurt and then it never came back. However, that may have coincided with how he was being played as well.

Think this is fair. Offense has been built around Brunson. Ie., give him the ball and spread the floor. No back cutting wanted no off ball picks. This comes from coaching staff. They just added KAT to be a secondary ISO player in case Brunson gets doubled and to be a floor spacer. Not exactly what you want to ask of a $60M contract.
The sad thing is that we have the roster for a quick passing offense. Quick decisions with 3 second hold times. Drive , kick and rotate the ball to any of our guys and I feel they can do something positive. Well maybe except for Hart.

Except for OG, you mean. Who will bobble the ball and kick it out of bounds. Hart can pass.

Awful season. Team made it to ECF's first time in 25 years. Minutes police wore bodycams this year and was found innocent.
Carlisle might be a better coach than Thibs.

Could be. He was also the coach who didn't do very much with young Brunson, Doncic, KP lineup.

So one can surmise its not plug and play? Rick had a good run with Detroit, then came to Dallas were he won a chip. So players matter. Chemistry matters. Injuries matter. What guarantee is Spo, Kidd or Rick himself would do better? None. "Can't do worse"? Yes they could. Knicks got here on talent.

OG can hit an open three. Hart? Maybe sometimes. But yeah, he can be frustrating as well.

I've had many of the same reactions to Kat's bad decisions and sloppiness.
But dude is putting up #s - highly effecient #s and his D (outside of awful drop coverage) has been solid in playoffs (he can guard).
Averaging 26/12 on 52/46/84 % shooting %s.
He is averaging almost as many rebounds (12) as entire Pacers frontline combined Siakim (5), Turner (4), Nesmith (5) combined.

2021. Looks leaner and quicker.
Damn I could say the same about myself.

Towns had a really good year for us...was 50, 40, 80...3rd team all NBA. His concentration wanes at times and he has lapses in judgement that makes you want to throw your remote through the TV, but this is a trait most players share that are all stars but not hall of fame worthy. I suspect most fans that had a problem with Kat, especially when the trade was announced were Randle fans...
Nalod@ 6/14/2025 7:38 PM
Win a chip and all will be celebrated for years! Kat won’t be all defensive. But win a finals mvp and keep putting up gaudy numbers and he might make HOF. Jalen with HS chip, 2 NCAA’s, player of the year and say 7 more years like this might get him Jacket also. Add A chp, he there. Get an olympic goal and he gets the Grand slam! He’d be in rare air. First things first, lets get the coach……

If anyone gets Towns to put more effort on D, fewer dumb fouls, Im guessing it will be KAT's teammates, not his coaches. Not letting him drift mentally, encouraging him to keep his head in the game. He took some flak from the TNT crew over his stupid fouls. What bothered me is that KAT didnt seem all that bothered about it himself.
I remember Dirk's defense wasnt up to snuff back when he was with the Mavs, rarely took it to the rim. But Carlisle got the job, Dirk's D improved, was playing more physical D. Didnt just rely on fall back jumpers.started taking it to the rim more.
I still think KAT's teammates will be the ones to get him to play smarter, but maybe a new coach will also help him play with more focus.

He’ll be 30 in November. I think the most significant changes to his game we can expect will be more nagging injuries.
