Knicks · Knicks traded for Towns (finally official 10/1) (page 45)

I kind of like the trip to the semi's and KAT kind of like played, not injured, and kinda, you know like we won shit.
Randle, Who was super happy with did have some untimely injuries. The "PhuchFace" attitude at times? That did not bother me like some others.
The DDV thing? Pehraps we created a nice fable to his one year here as if he was an alltime great? His Career has been uneven and I was super glad he really was quite a suprise, but we all pine for the past and he had a good run here.
His moments were nice but also he really did well when we were short handed and earned a double "BANG" from Breen with an excepional moment! Hell, Melo never had a playoff moment like that as knick and he a freakin HOF great!!!!
I know knicks not doing well now, and KAT not playing well this year. Jules is a happy camper in Minny so it naturally that grass is greener today.

The amount of times I have to shake my at this $50m player every single game is nuts.
If there's a way to package him for the Freak, sign me up.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't dream about a KAT for iHart and DDV trade (and Siddiq Bey). Hell, bring back Thibs if that could happen.

I am optimistic a reunion could happen. iHart has only one more year left on his contract and they won't be able to keep him considering how much they are already paying Shai and now J-Will as well as Chet. If we can find them a cheaper long-term option (by trading KAT for that player and pieces), I think we'd have legs for a deal.

I also think DDV is not long for MIN. He will also be on an expiring contract next year and has not fit in with the Wolves. Quite honestly, I think they'd be willing to dump him especially if we could find a capable PG for them. I'd be willing to trade our youth (Kolek, Pacome and Diawara) in that deal.

I wonder how much a bottom-dwelling team like the Nets or Suns, would be interested in KAT. At the very least, he could help provide better spacing for younger, developing players, which has some utility.

Maybe KAT for Nic Claxton straight-up and then re-direct Claxton and his declining contract for iHart.

I also think KAT to PHO would have legs because of the Devin Booker connection. Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen and Nick Richards would work for me. Maybe we could re-direct Grayson Allen for DDV and Dillon Brooks for assets to get back iHart.

I like that Phx trade and would actually keep those hypothetical players unless OKC was willing to give up IHart pretty easily. I loved DDV but think keeping G.Allen and D.Brooks would help more as we would gain 2 solid defenders (plus Richards as C insurance).

I definitely like the Suns idea better because of the optionality involved with getting 3 rotational players that can be moved in other deals, if necessary. I just want DDV and iHart back for sentimental reasons. I also think they'd be more inclined to sign team-friendly contracts because of the connections and history they have here.

I'm riding and dying with KAT unless Giannis becomes available in a fair trade.

...then prepare to be released from this mortal coil, brother. Lol.

Out of curiosity though, why do you feel so strongly about KAT?

NardDogNation @ 11/28/2025 9:15 PM
Another idea...involving 4 teams....

Knicks Get: Anthony Davis, DDV
Mavs Get: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, WAS 2026 protected first
Suns Get: KAT, Naji Marshall
Wolves Get: Gershon Yabusale, Jordan Clarkson, Pacome Diadet, Mohammed Diawara, Tyler Kolek

Panos @ 1/9/2026 11:43 PM
I can't stomach that were paying KAT $50mm+ per year.

Neither could Minnesota.

The advantage of having KAT on team is because of his offense and spacing capabilities. This is fucking stark.

KAT is having a career worst FG%, 2pt%, 3pt%, eFG%. ALL OF THEM.

Shooting 35% from 3 on not very high volume.

On a per 36minutes distribution, he is shooting less 3s than theses guys on team:

Rk Player Age G 3P 3PAV 3P%
1 Miles McBride 25 27 3.9 8.7 .450
2 Jalen Brunson 29 35 3.1 8.0 .391
3 Landry Shamet 28 15 3.2 7.6 .424
4 Jordan Clarkson 33 38 2.6 7.3 .353
5 Mohamed Diawara 20 30 2.8 7.0 .400
6 Guerschon Yabusele 30 32 2.3 6.6 .345
7 OG Anunoby 28 28 2.2 6.2 .354
8 Kevin McCullar Jr. 24 10 2.5 5.9 .429
9 Mikal Bridges 29 38 2.4 5.8 .405
10 Tyler Kolek 24 34 1.8 5.5 .333
11 Karl-Anthony Towns 30 35 1.9 5.4 .349
12 Josh Hart 30 28 1.9 4.8 .389

There are 2 possibilities: return to the mean, he is not jiving with a system that was supposed to emphasize KAT and team.
martin @ 1/10/2026 11:51 AM
Dillion Brooks is having a better offense year than KAT. And he plays defense and is a dog.
ToddTT @ 1/10/2026 12:13 PM
This is gross. Almost as gross as the year Leon the genius signed Kemba and EF.

2024-25 New York Knicks $49,205,800
2025-26 New York Knicks $53,142,264
2026-27 New York Knicks $57,078,728
2027-28 New York Knicks $61,015,192 (Player Option)

These numbers are like wtf

KAT is only shooting better % than Kolek and Yabu. He is only shooting more volume per 36 than the one guy who’d rather not shoot them.

I said it last year he was on my wishlist.
I have a man crush on Brooks. Dude does not take a single play off.

Teams win or lose but this is not good either and is effecting the team, cause this is his lopsided talent

newyorknewyork @ 1/10/2026 5:11 PM
How about Kat for JJJ, Edey & Pope(cap filler)?

Memphis hangs up immediately. Plus JJJ is arguably not even a third option offensively on a championship contender.

You probably disagree but I think we should have kept Julius.
At the time of the trade, felt KAT may be slightly better but no way he was worth the money.
Hoping it’s a system issue or that he just repeats what he did in the playoffs last year in this years playoffs.
