Knicks · Knicks traded for Towns (finally official 10/1) (page 9)

Lets not forget there were times in the playoffs that DDV was benched late in games for Deuce. Deuce's 3pt shooting AND defense were elite.

is Mitch tradeable? Package Mitch + young assets (Dadiet) + whatever picks left for a PF. Not sure who would fit

IHart opened up the offense at the high post with passing and a floater. Kat in this similar role, but a 20pt 40% three pt shooter 80% from FT!!

Defensively he isn't elite, but he holds positive defensive analytics. Last season 109 DTRTG, 3.6 DWS, 0.9 BPM.

Not to mention surrounded by quality defenders: Precious, OG, Bridges, Mcbride, Hart, Mitch.

It is amazing how people are talking about KAT defensively like he’s Eddy Curry.

He’s a very similar makeup to iHart in terms of size, footspeed, hops, instincts etc. I think he will be fine.

If you could dream up a wing lineup with KAT at C how many would be better than Hart/Mikal/OG?

I’m not there yet but we kind of need Hart as a supersub / finisher more than starter.

Kolek - Deuce - Shamet/Morris - Mitch/Precious is a weak bench

Payne, Deuce, Hart, Morris, Mitch?

why would we trade Mitch? He's just what we need at C right now.

If the plan is for KAT to be the full time center, then I would have no problem trading Mitch.

Knicks leapfrogged Philly and Denver and now have 3rd best title odds

Mitch for Herb Jones makes so much sense for everyone

Yea Mitch is a keeper now. Mitch and Precious give us a lot of lineup flexibility around KAT.

Great point. I remember that. DDV is streaky and was on a bad shooting streak. Plus his defense against certain players was not on deuce level. Love DDV and his passion but I agree. Deuce had moments where he out played him.

DLeethal @ 9/28/2024 9:57 AM
We have big man depth now. Trade Mitch and we lose that.
NYKBocker @ 9/28/2024 9:57 AM
Ok. I am brainwashing myself that this is a good trade for us. I will be fine. I just love DDV so much.
DLeethal @ 9/28/2024 9:57 AM
Dadiet is a wildcard now. Wide open for him to take an every night bench scoring role.
DLeethal @ 9/28/2024 9:58 AM
If Leon nailed his draft picks this year he will be a legend. We need those guys immediately now.

Except for our backup C slot?

KAT may very well be the full time C that doesn't make Mitch expendable. Especially considering both are injury prone.

How many minutes is KAT playing? 32, 33? that alone leaves 16mpg at backup C. But even if KAT starts at C i'm sure we'll see him at PF for stretches, especially against bigger teams. KAT was a PF next to Gobert, he'll def get run at PF here next to Mitch.

I don't think Mitch's minutes will be affected at all by this move really, he'll play as many minutes as he can stay healthy for.

DLeethal @ 9/28/2024 10:00 AM
Mitch gives us flexibility to play KAT at C when warranted. We want that option. Mitch gets a lower minute specialist role which is better for him with his health. He’s in a great spot now.
nycericanguy @ 9/28/2024 10:00 AM
Deuce isn't the natural shooter DDV is, but he's elite in his own right and plays much better straight up defense.
martin @ 9/28/2024 10:01 AM
Yeah these timelines get moved up just a smidge, it’ll be fun to watch.

And if Dadiet even gets a chance, that’ll be wild for him. And us

You all pumped for the “He’s your Daddy” chants at MSG 😂

I think that’s a dangerous lineup. Plus it keeps the center spot warm for Mitch. Thibs has so much flexibility.

EwingsGlass @ 9/28/2024 10:05 AM
The Precious starts argument has holes. For starters, Hart is the better rebounder and passer. Second, his contract is a 1 year. I don’t think they give him prime position without some sense of continuity.

Brunson/Hart/Bridges/OG/Kat makes too much sense. The positional size advantage of Bridges at SG and OG at SF is hard to overlook, but you can have that in a “big” lineup when Robinson comes back. KATs ability to stretch might actually make Robinson more effective.

Fact is that the options are great.

Brunson/Bridges/OG/KAT/Robinson is just pure beast mode.

Payne has scoring chops. Deuce can light it up. KBD has been know to drop 30+ on occasion. Morris used to be able to score. Achiuwa csn be a 2nd unit center easily. Or Robinson.

Kolek/Dadiet will need time to adjust but that pairing will solidify the second unit.
